Love how yall let DJ Hed keep it a thousand with counter culture and having respect and listening to each other just adds layers to what the community can do
I feel like I shouldn’t be hearing this clip.. Hed is talking rn.. he got some great Wisdom to share and I know it’s way more than what was in this whole interview..
You’re right about that. I tell people to stop focus on writing a hit. If you focus on writing a hit song or making radio hits, you’re going to get lost in the sauce. Me being a producer/songwriter, the main key of how to write a song is to let the beat tell you what to do. After going thru beats and picking the one that you like, listen to the beat a few times. It’ll probably take you few mins, hours, weeks, days, etc. When listen to the beat, follow its cadence until you get into a trance and once you’re in a trance, the beat will tell what to do. When it tells you what to do then the lyrics will come out of you naturally. That’s how I write music.
@@SoulOfTheSouth that’s one way, but there are many approaches to writing a song. Most of the songs I write were written laying down in the middle of the night to no beat. Some were written to a skeleton and I built the beat around it. Some were written to a whole other niggas song (not instrumental, but the song lol) it’s a hundred ways
Wish ppl cared more about Classic Hip-Hop albums than how to sell a trendy hit.. and knew the difference and caliber artist it takes to do one or the other and both.
The problem is, the real producers are gone. Its a bunch of beat makers and noone is really producing records anymore. Yung Berg is one the few producers left and he pumps out hits left right and centre.
He was active way before that. The way he moved to get to that point is what needs to be studied. Cool that he got more doors opened by the situation though.
That was cute. I dig it, but when I say “west coast,” I’m talking about California. LA, specifically. Because that’s the only MOVEMENT we’ve ever had. Don’t believe me, make an all-time top 25 “west coast” rappers list, and I guarantee every last one of them is from California. Peace to those other spots, but they haven’t contributed historically on the big stage.
@danaholland1491 people think that just because THEY don't know someone that they haven't done anything of note. Lol I remember when people thought hed was someone that attached himself to the beef for clout, when dude has literally known and worked with those dudes for a long time. Lol people generally stopped yapping once they found that out. Lol I guess minus this dolt. 😆
Dot already told us. Hed is the answer
hed is the futuree😂
