Holy cow, Dan! Not my idea of a good time, especially in the dark on a busy road! And then climbing up the Malahat to boot! But you’re strong and in good shape and I’m happy you successfully pulled this one off. If you come up against it again, you know what you’re capable of doing. I hope you had a good time with your friends in Victoria and I look forward as always to your next adventure!
That last stretch over the Malahat during the early a.m. - definitely not for the faint hearted, and not recommended ever. However, Kudos for fighting on! Such an inspiration. Safe travels as you ride on! I'm a Victoria cyclist myself. You passed within 10 minutes of my house at 13:32.
Bonkers, but I kind of get it, when you’re looking forward to seeing old friends after months of solo biking, the adrenaline kicks in. Another great watch, thanks for sharing, hope you’ve had a good restful break - stay safe!
I live on this island and do the daily commute of the Malahat Mountain pass. Much respect to you for biking it. As a fellow bikepacker, i've been enjoying watching your journey. Safe travels.
Great Episode Dan… full send !! I was late getting to watch this. Number of the roads you rode are part of my Caves & Coves photo-based Bikepacking race. Love watching your adventures!! 🫶🏼
Not sure if to congratulate you on riding your bike to the point where you were sleeping on your bike, but I’m glad you lived to tell the story. Stay safe and enjoy your journey. Thank for sharing.
Great video! It must have been tough to turn on the camera and talk when you're so exhausted! I would love to tour northern Vancouver Island sometime, those remote forest roads look like a lot of fun.
That was epic, scary, and inspiring. How did you manage your sodium and potassium levels over that much time on the bike? I find potato chips crucial to keep my body working on really long rides.
Having to climb the Malahat at the end of a nearly 200 mile ride is truly torture. I was hoping you were going to give up at Mill Bay and wait for the ferry the next morning :) Beautiful ride at the beginning though! Love the north of the Island.
wow...those are a load of miles you did...from a fellow bicycle tourist...you will have the memory of so many miles but I implore you to consider not riding out there at night like that...the risk is so big versus the reward. I am glad you made it to your friend's place but a road at night with all the possibilities to encounter things that can make you go down and break your bicycle or a body part. It is great to be young but remember...achilles was young and powerful and so was Hector, but Odysseus was the only one who made it back, because he was the astute one. Cheers and be safe, be will and see as much as you can as this is the reason for your touring...hard to see things on the road at night no matter how good your lights are.
Nicely done and thanks for sharing. Try not to be too risky, like riding at nighttime on busy roadways, as many of us are rooting for you to safely reach Argentina (and the great videos of your trip). Be safe.
I hope you're not doing anymore night rides on highways. Not the best use of a camera. Apart from that, great episode. Hope many more are being uploaded now, I've seem to have run out.

Yeah that was the worst part of the route for sure, and I got there just as the morning traffic started!
Holy moly amigo, that was real tough and totally crazy! But great video…. don’t know how you got the strength to film till the end!!

Would you do it again? 😅
Hopefully not haha
i cant imagine 200 miles in one day, you must have been sore and cramping badly the next day
I hope you're not doing anymore night rides on highways. Not the best use of a camera. Apart from that, great episode. Hope many more are being uploaded now, I've seem to have run out.
No that’s definitely a one off! New video should be out in the next couple of days :)
