We test drove a couple of Q5s and an SQ5 and the giant mirrors are something that my wife loves about them, as compared to the S4/A4 normal sized mirrors.
same for me i don’t have an issue with them tbh
The big mirrors are an advantage, you have more control of the surrounding rear, the visibility problem can be fixed if you put your seat higher, the position on which you see is too low. The trunk cover can be totally dismounted on 2 seconds if you have big stuff to carry. The rear seats space is big, only problem is that you haven't adjusted them backward with a little level behind them. For the aluminium scratches, it's an issue in all the cars that have aluminium trims, you should pay more attention not to scratch them with sharp objects or with the keys, and there are carbon ones that are better in many sq5... what else ? The front seats design ? They're awesome and so so confortable, the circuit racing one corpse ones are just ugly and selfish, because they make visibility lesser for passengers in the back and they make space feeling tight, I really can't see the problem with sq5 front seats, it's not a racing circuit car, and the style you showed is meanly used in more racer cars which are most of the times 2 seaters and coupés.
I have the B8 2014 Glacier white with Black leather and Magma seats. You're right about the carbon fiber around the shifter being more resistant to scratches and damage. I can't see a single scratch on mine and I bought it used. Absolutely love the car though. Lots of plans!
Dude im so glad you did these SQ5 vids I have 2012 Q5 2.0 4 cylinder I'm in love with it. I totally agree with the side mirrors being too big aswell. Im going over to check out the break vid next seeing how I need those. Keep these videos coming dude!
I love the big mirrors on mine, but agree with all others! I have the carbon package on mine thankfully! The things I hate with my 2016 SQ5 are the fact that there is not a single USB port in the vehicle, and also just how there is no CarPlay!

On the cargo cover, I went form a '14 Jetta SW with your style cover, to a '15 golf SW that had the roll up cover. The roll up cover sucked when you had the back full of stuff as you had to push down on it to unlatch it. I coached soccer at the time and always had a bag with 15-18 balls, cones, pinnies, etc., and it was often difficult to get it to unlatch.
You are so right about the mirrors lol, it's worse when a make a left turn at a light, ill have to sit up to see the the upcoming road, I ran into the middle divider once.

I absolutely love my side View mirrors because they are so big. You see everything and this car has zero blind spots.
Besides the blind spots behind the giant mirrors.

Exact same things I hate on my sq5 haha although I swapped out the trim for the carbon trims no more denting 👌
I finally got a front facing car seat for my daughter but the legroom situation isn't much better still, this is my main complaint from passengers. My main complaint is the seats... I miss my S5 alcantara seats🤷♂️
My gf has a 2017, the MMI is painful to use. The beeps and alarms drive me nuts, but maybe I can code that out. Hers has the CF console trim though and it looks great! Honestly I love driving her car, I think more than mine lol
Agree on everything with mine, the mirrors are a huge blind spot. The cool thing about the seats is they're the same from the first gen R8's
I got my 2016 SQ5 about the same time you did. The seats aren’t very comfortable, they don’t really fit me, especially the back bolsters are for a much larger person. Also, I didn’t realize how small the trunk was, but still love the car. I did get the carbon fiber trim so glad to not have that scratching issue around the console. I suspect the large mirrors would be great if you are towing something. They are large.

I own a '13 Audi Q5 s-line prestige sport 3.0T and your interior is very similar to mine. I have the same seats without the badging.
U missed one! The front break dust bugs me. I have to clean my rims almost every week. Either way I luv my SQ5
Same with my S4 it’s so annoying. I don’t even make a week sometimes😂
I'm regretting taking the dust shield off of my rear rotors.... They are starting to look like the fronts!
You are correct I love my Q5 but the brake dust is crazy.
Easily fixed with aftermarket break pads

I had S4 seats installed in my SQ5.
The funniest thing is the same complaint you made about the SQ5, can be said about the Tiguan as well. My Golf R fits baby stuff better than a Tiguan
ALL Q5 problems... big mirrors... lol also do your rear seats recline/slide? myn all the way back in more upright do the trick for me. Great video Eli hopefully we get some meets this summer! Miss my s4 seats haha
I thought you were going to talk about major maintenance issues. I am considering buying a Q5, so I'm relieved you're not having any serious issues.
We had a Nuna in the old Q5 and there was no room between the car seat and the front seat. Then we had to upgrade to a Q7 for 2 Nuna's + 1 Clek (three across the 2nd row).
Totally agree on the trunk cover. Every time I go to put something large I'm the trunk I have to remove it. - Dave
Tint the windows and take it out. Mine is blacked out in back. No issues.

I have a b9 sq5 prestige and love it. Carbon fiber interior trim is way better than the silver.
I will be doing upgrades but after the warranty is expired.
I don't have mind the mirror size, makes it easy to see behind, especially with mirror dip when reversing to avoid curbing the alloys.
I thing the trunk cover can be taken out and folded and put back or just taken out. Either way those sliding ones suck.
No issue with car seats here, maybe you should get a or test a different type.
Agree with the aluminium trim. I should have got the carbon fibre as well. Lucky mine is still in almost mint condition.
It’s the design of that damn car seat base and the footprint of the whole unit when it’s in there rear facing. I have the same ones - 2 for f-king twins - in my X5 and we have to move front seats forward in that too. Yet somehow I can fit them in my 2 door gc8 Subaru and in the back seat of my Evo 8. Front seats have to be manipulated forward obviously. I’m gonna get a 3.0T A6, 16 or 17 model year with the gen 4 motor and assume car seats will fit with no fuss. Anyone reading between the lines, no I will not be trading either of my cars for it. I’m pretty excited to run the gen 4 tho. The multi point fuel injection alone gets me aroused. Thanks for your content dude - it’s largely responsible for my interest in ea837 3.0t cars

I’ve had my sq5 for about five months now and the thing that annoys me the most is the controls for skipping tracks. That and my hood latch switch failed and now it tells me I’m low on oil when I’m clearly not. Which leads me to the lack of an actual dipstick. Other than that I absolutely love it.
I ordered the didstick for my S4 on the first oil change which is a lifesaver because the gauge in the infotainment has been a real hassle for me at times.
The mirrors are great IMO
I prefer the piano wood with the silver pin striping. I have it in my S4 and 😋

I rarely agree with you on things but you are 💯 percent correct this time. The mirrors are the worst. I actually called Audi of USA to complain about that. They belong on an 18 wheeler. And yes that rear trunk lid sheeesh!!! I would add 3 other things but that's most common with almost all Audis they barely have compartment space. What's funny on the SQ5 is the sunglassholder I don't know what kind of sunglasses that supposed to hold but it doesn't even hold the kids sunglasses.
Right, I've only got a normal q5, but my sunglasses live on the visor. Maybe a pair of bifocals would fit but that's about it....
Also bummed that I can't skip tracks with the steering wheel controls when Bluetooth to my phone.
Mine fit the sunglasses holder!!

Definitely right about the legroom. Had a MK7 GTI previously and the cabin room was better even with a rear facing car seat in the rear. I have two kids now and we fit fine in the SQ5 but marginally. 5’10 is probably the max you can be in the front
I totally agree on those Mirrors! Damn they are Truck mirrors. The Blindspot on the passenger side is really bad indeed. I had a Estoril Blue 2014 which I sold to get into a 987 Cayman S. But a Year later I got another 2014 SQ5 because its just such a good Allrounder. If only We could get a B8 S4 Avant in the States I wouldnt need a SUV but hey what can we do..
APR tune on those 3.0s recommended.

Mine has wood with aluminum inlays and it looks sick! 5.5 years and looks new. I like the trunk cover the way it is. But agree with the rest.

Yeah, mine has black wood and it looks awesome. Slightly scratched but you have to look for them.
That’s what I’m saying. The wood grain with the accenting is definitely the best design for the interior.
My Q5 has the silver inlays, however even 10 yrs old looks new...Guess it comes down to how well the car is looked after. Boot cover would be better as retractable I agree. Also got to have the right motor. 3.2 naturally aspirated is just beautiful winding up!
I might put sq5 mirrors on my s4, or swap yours for s4 mirrors. I’m sure it’s the same plug and shape.
Where can you get the carbon fibre surround around the gearbox?? I have the same thing with my SQ5. IM with you I love it (mines the TDI version)
So I know you are a big voice for IE but I'm being trying to get an intake for my Q7 so I can get some whining noises 😍 but no one seems to be making intakes for it. Do you think the sq5 intake would fit right on it?

on the car seat- I found with my SQ5 that it was better to put the seat in the middle.
Honestly, not the worst- but I could see the need to upgrade to an SQ7 if we had 3 kids.

Put a vinyl on the aluminum parts in the car. You can make it any color you like then.

The rear doors have really poor sound proofing and vibrate around 70hz. Dynamat was a no brainer for my sq5

carbon fiber inserts was a must when i bought my s4. i dont like the look of the aluminum trim that much. and most of the used b8.5 s4's had the carbon fiber.
The piano wood grain with the silver striping is a lot better the the carbon in my book but I may be a little biased🤭
You really need to upgrade your ride... my 2018 SQ5 is SO much better than the older models... Sports seats, virtual dashboard, carbon fiber inlay and is really quite an amazing performance coupe/suv. There are still some "bads"... the cup holders, the stupid mini phone slot that doesn't fit a phone, no charging ports in the hatch, fake exhaust tips...
I agree with you 100% on the mirrors. My wife hates driving my car cuz of the gigantor mirrors.
Yup my dad drives a SQ5 and the side mirrors are huge can’t see the pedestrians it’s so annoying especially if you are short lol
Yeah its the same issue as the Q5 also they should of moved the rear seats back a little.
I would agree with the last three. The dealer replaced the center console when I bought mine used bc it had a big dent in it. My gf has a Jeep Cherokee with the sliding trunk cover, so much better. I was surprised how little room there is for the back seats but coming from a two door coupe I didn’t care all that much. Here is my biggest complaint though. No radio preset buttons, and no skip/next function on the steering wheel! I mean seriously?!?!? How is there no skip/next/scan function on the steering wheel?!?!? Worst radio/media interface of any car I have ever been in.
They added the skip/scan button AND radio preset buttons on the B9 :)
Finally, a place to complain about my 2018 SQ5!!! It starts with comfort seats that are NOT, either in heat or cool mode; a garage remote that has a 10 foot range, all kinds of trim issues, the Max oil sensor that goes off even when the gauge shows between min and max. The ultimate piss-off was the rear seat cup holder that broke after a couple of uses and the under body panel that fell off, neither of which was covered by warranty. It all tarnishes a beautiful and fun to drive car. I expected a better quality product for a $80k purchase.

How did you fix the rattling noise from the panoramic sunroof?
CPO warranty replaced the entire frame 3x until we found one that didn’t rattle
everything you mentioned can just be replaced or taken off so easily,and if you want more space get a q7

I have a 12 A7. I hate my cup holder. You cant get a cup on it without it hitting the arm rest. But that's the only thing I dont like about it

The sister car Macan is just as bad. Loved the ride, but it was so tiny the car set was a huge problem. Got used RS7 - so much more room and stroller fits nicely in the hatch!
No one mentioned the cup holders? The shifter and center console buttons should be behind the cup holders.... Pretty sure I've got scars on my arm from reaching for the volume nob to skip my music (since you cant with the steering wheel controls) when my girlfriend has a drink with a straw in it....

I also hate the mirrors on the SQ5. Especially when getting into a roundabout with a slight hill. I can't see the cars in the roundabout to my left.
Hey man love your videos! The rear seats are adjustable with a lever just under where the leg-knee would be. They look like they could move back a bit more from that angle as they slide back and forth on rails.
Brake dust. I Changed mine to carbon ceramic pads, much lighter pad dust almost tolerable. Better initial bite than stock.
Soft brake pedal. I had to bleed it 5 times to get a somewhat firm pedal. But it still had an inch of travel before it engages. Audi says it’s built that way.
I tinted my sunroof with 5% tint. That mesh was giving me a headache during sunny days.
During light throttle inputs, the transmission uses too high a gear. Sport revs to redline too much, need something in the middle.
The giant mirrors .......I almost ran over a pedestrian because she was completely blocked by it & the A pillar.
The screws in the air box have 2 different sized torx screws.
Lifetime transmission fluids!! What a joke! If fluids were lifetime then so should the warranty!
Waiting to see how much Audi will charge for a new transmission.

Hate the crappy SQ5 stock front 15" rotors that are 1 part number fits both sides. How messed up is this. On one side the rotor directional veins face forward on the other side the rotor veins faces the rear.

@@IgnitionTube And I'm fully aware this could be user error on my part, But when you click the sun roof button to pop it up...you have to open it to close it. Probably just a me thing.
@@TheMoirLabel For the sunroof,, you can push it up to open and just pull it down to close. Don't need to open sunroof to close.

Well, this is what happens when you use a car for dual purposes. There is no perfect car unless you are going to buy two separate cars. From experience I can tell you it's cheaper to have one car modded than to pay insurance and maintenance on a family car and a weekend warrior. I don't the aluminum trim in the cars they dent easy and when people have kids it gets beat to faaaack.
You chose the car... How can you complain. The S4/S5 did come with those sport seats you're on about but they were an option. I have my 2015 spec'd with diamond stitch and carbon fibre - and that's only because I searched and made sure I got one like that
He struggled to find the spec he wanted for the car and he sorta needed one at the time because his old one lost a fight with a snow plow. He was mainly focused on the blue and the alcantara I think spec wise.

2018 sq5 here. The garage remote range is very short, you almost have to be right next to the garage. And the crappy tiny ass cup holders, can barely fit anything in there maybe a soda can or a baby sippy cup. This is AMERICA we are fat and need our big gulp cups that are like 32oz

Oh dear, bit of a moan....Great SUV... yes the mirrors are BIG, boot space is good, Carbon Fibre is deff the way to go, on my previous SQ I had the Alu Trim... on My 2nd SQ5 plus,I've got the C/Fibre... ( Atlas trim - they call it)
