I was a Junior in High school when this album came out. It was in the cassette deck of my car for at least 6 months. I listened to nothing else. I played it over and over and over and over. One of the greatest rock n roll albums of all time!!
I’ve been saying that for years! Haha he’s a lot like my dad but my dad’s music choices around the fire get sad. Joey would be full time DJ as we party and go deep!
Steven was their secret weapon period. If you listen to GnR play their songs with another drummer it sounds like a cover band, When Steven plays GnR songs with anybody it sounds exactly like GnR.
GnR, Motley, poison. The hair metal mutha fuckin trifecta of the sunset strip! These bands were the lion share of my musical interest in the late 80’s. 🤘🏼
Joey, when you going to give Wille Colon a shoutout? The baddest spick with a trombone, still kicking it till this day. Maybe even Hector Lavoe too but unfortunately he died of AIDS already. Probably spent to much time hanging with Freddy Mercury or something.
Love your show Joey! You should check out Hanoi Rocks. They were influence on whole sunset strip scene. They were about about to hit big in US but then their drummer died in a car crash with Vince Neil driving and they broke up after that.
Of the week? Album of a generation, still to this day vinyls are pressed, 14 year old kids can be seen wearing the shirts with the album cover on them, I love it but feel bad that this generation of kids is still living off our generations music!
I'm surprised night train never got any radio time. So many great songs, but people never realized until they bought the album. What I always liked about GnR and why I thought they were unique was the composition of the music and their loose playing at times and tightening up at others. Certainly bluesier than other bands at the time. TREMENDOUS

Check out L.A.M.F. by The Heartbreakers. Without that record there would have been no Hanoi Rocks, which would mean no GnR.

One secret weapon to this album. Steven Adlers snare sound!

@@ThundersMcCoyI think Matt Sorum was a solid replacement he fit the more technical style on the UYI records better imo.
