I know what the Ken-Stead means to you. You inspired me to build a shed that I had always wanted after I had a stroke and had to retire. It was a lot of work at first, but pretty quickly turned into a labor of love and a tribute to my father. My beagle has a puppy and grew up watching me build it. His name is Clyde, named for me dad, so we call the shed “Clyde’s Hideaway. Anyway I think the build was complete therapy after such a drastic change in my life, like you after retirement. Thank You for the inspiration sir.
Hi Ken, this is Bob, from South Jersey shore. I was watching you transferring your tree into that beautiful wooden barrel half. Here is a suggestion I do all the time. First, when using my 20 gallon barrels for garden plants, I drill a few hole in to bottom for drainage. Then inside the barrel, I cover the bottom with small rocks and gravel, and I add a half a bag of mulch. On top of the mulch I mix some peat moss and top soil, or you can use potting soil. You're all done the one bag of soil you are using can now do 2 barrels. I hope this help. Great programming Ken, I'm loving your retirement videos.
That tiny house is coming along beautifully. Clearly, it takes all the same skills and knowledge to build a tiny house as it would a larger building. It sure shows you have the skills and knowledge to do both. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks...
Good Thursday morning Kens Karpentry .... excellent work on the trim👍🏻✏📐🔨🪜 Glad that bear🐻didn't mess with your chickens🐔🦇🚫+🐻= No Bears Allowed .... that should take care of the situation🤣 Have a very nice day Ken & family✌🏻👣
Finishing the returns and putting the corners on! Those corners are going to look so good! Good idea to seal the edge around the big window with silicon and then put the trim board around the window and finish with bent flashing coil stock. Yes, plant the tomato plants deep so they make more roots and make more tomatoes for you. Those look happy planted in the pool. I like your containers for the spruce trees. Oh boy, a black bear checking out the Kenstead! I'm glad the black bear didn't eat your chickens or mess with your plants! I hope you slept well. Thanks for this video Ken!
Tiny house looking amazing ken ,doing coil stock trim work ,is an art form...and your great at it ,and i love how you explain and show the process....your garden beds look great....have a great day ken
The next time you mow the lawn, take some grass clippings and spread them over the tomato/pepper raised bed. This keeps the moisture in the soil from drying out in the sun.. I have a similar setup (a bit North of you) and the grass breaks down into compost for future planting. Trim on the tiny house is looking sharp! How is the interior for air flow? Cheers,
Tiny house is looking good!!! Can't wait to see it with the roofing on!!! Tell those bears they'd better be leaving our chickens alone!!! Grateful our neighbor scared him off for us!!!
After seeing you trim out this project I really want a sheet metal brake. Have seen you doing the flashings on your garages before but doing these custom ones on the fly, and being able to make flashing for the little downlight boxes has highlighted how creative you can be with the brake and coil stock on hand. Love it.
Good morning 🙏 KEN. Tiny home looking sweet. Garden and chicks are doing well. Love watching all your your vlogs. I'm praying with you in JESUS'S NAME AMEN. SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 ❤ bye bear.
WOW, that trimout is sweet!! Seems like the $3k investment in the metal brake was wise, considering how long you used it and saved money every time you did. That sucker looks FUN to use. Hearing those corner pieces snap into place was wildly satisfying ... but, admittedly, I'm easily amused haha Enjoyed the video and the Kenstead update. Can't wait to see those red ripe tomatoes. Hope the bear stays out of mischief.
Good morning Ken,,looking fantastic my friend, just remember silicone is glue lol..after I break I run 3 light lines on my faucia stick it to the wood and just end nail only, of course the tiny house will probably be traveling down the road at 100 mile hour and you don't want it blowing all over the country. Lol lol lol..🐊🌴😎
❤ Good Evening Ken🌻🌄🌅 Trim looks great, Beautiful little Garden👍Great idea with Baby Pool👍can move it where Ever you like✌️Be careful with those Bears& baby Cubs🤞They Smell Food cooking miles away& eat everything untill winter! So keep Garbage & Grills in Garage,Shed& clean the Smells awayThey don't like Loud Noises likes Bangs or Dogs Barking, Sirens! To Bad you couldn't or could rig up a Sensor & Camera that would make a loud noise when they come around 😉👍🤩🇺🇸🙏🙌🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇲👌🐻🐺🦝🦊🐹
Ken, nice video. Fun watching you build stuff. One comment on your transplantation of the blue spruce trees. In such a big container, we have a hole in the bottom for drainage, then we put down rocks like river rock 3-4 inches, cover that with some weed barrier and then dirt, compost or just bagged miracle grow dirt. You might have been able to use just the one bag of dirt for both trees. Also, I would recommend breaking up the root ball before you cover them up with dirt.
Nice trim work Ken! Will you be installing the door knob before you take the house to the weight scales? Was also wondering if you had drilled a couple small holes in the swimming pool for the tomatoes so they don’t go swimming during heavy downpours? Keep up the great work👍
Did you ever try a woodworker's apron? I love a tool belt for certain large projects but I find that I prefer a carpenter's apron with lots of pockets for most woodworking.
I’m glad the cortisone shots kicked in. I’m usually a little stiff and sore for a day or two, but after they kick in I’m fine. I can tell when I’m coming up on another shot, though!
Bears love to rumage through garbage cans for scraps of food. Not particulrly tidy after their done, and not willing to share. Can be nasty, so hide your dogs and hide in your home. Bear are wild predators known to kill for food.
It always feels like I'm "cheating" if I'm doing this kind of work without wearing a tool belt. Not to mention, I'm WAY less than efficient without it since I'm constantly putting tools down without thinking and needing to "hunt" for them two minutes later. ;o(
need sign no bears allowed but you need to post in multiple languages world gone crazy sorry also brail please someone has to think of our blind bears too thank you
Hey Ken, just out of interest, how are you doing on your weight loss ??? I've lost 37lb since the beginning of February, I'm aiming for a starter of another 35lb by Xmas, then I'll look at another target
You can always tell a great craftsman by whether they take the time to make sure the little details are done right. Then you can trust that the big things are done right, too.
Thanks for showing how the metal brake works. I'm surprised there isn't something you can set for various bend angles. The tomato plant will create roots on the buried part of the stem. You will want to break off more of the lower leaves once the plant is established. And break off the suckers (growth between the stem and a leaf) as they show up. If the bears show interest in the chickens you might have to get an electric fence set up. Not much else will deter a bear.

Hi Ken. Window finish looks amazing & the four corner edging gives a nice look to the body.
Thanks 👍

Right. Ed is a good neighbor
Ken, be careful outside at night. Bears are pretty fast.
Haha yes they are
Good Morning Ken. the tiny house and your homestead looks Amazing. :)
Thanks so muchp
A great video, thanks for showing the trim work and explaining in detail.
Glad you liked it!
Anytime you break off, tomato plant leaves or stems feed. Them to the chickens cause they'll produce better eggs .
Cool thanks
Things are looking great. Hope the bears wont cause trouble. Thanks Ken!
You and me both!
It's really coming together ! Big thumbs up.
Thanks
Looking awesome
Thanks a lot

. . . just the bear facts. . . . We all know that they can be a nuisance. You are making great progress.

Good morning, Ken! Love the attention to detail on the aluminum around the windows. Question, will you silicone the aluminum edge that meets the wall?
Probably not

Impressed with the metal work. I have been watching for awhile and never noticed you doing metal work.
Thanks I quite often didn’t show it
I really like your brake! Nice extra features, too.
I'm praying that your bear buddy leaves everything alone and moves on.
Great trim work, Ken!
Thanks 👍. Me too
Looking good Ken !!!
Can't wait to see the bathroom part of the built .
You and me both!

Good morning have a great day
I like the idea that the people who are getting the Tiny House will have a build video. Added value.
Yes definitely
Good idea to plant in wading pools. I,m wondering if you drilled holes about an inch from the bottom for drainage. Good job on the tiny house.
Yes, thanks. I drilled holes so it wouldn’t flood
Tie those tomatoes and pepper plants to some sticks. I forgot last year and a wind storm knocked them all down. They were never the same after that.
Thanks
The Bears always looking for food in spring time.
That’s true

Boy the outside is coming together!! I don’t think you were being a pessimist, a realist actually! Some finishing details are a booger!!😳
Thanks. Slow going

Yes definitely put doorknob on. Right i drilled holes in the pool
Did you ever try a woodworker's apron? I love a tool belt for certain large projects but I find that I prefer a carpenter's apron with lots of pockets for most woodworking.
Thanks I have
I’m glad the cortisone shots kicked in. I’m usually a little stiff and sore for a day or two, but after they kick in I’m fine. I can tell when I’m coming up on another shot, though!

Haha true
Good day to all. Ken, a mobile home?...... Yes. Do you have a cover for the windows when you are moving?
Thanks. No it should be fine
I've always liked Hunter/Forest green. That's the color of our garage and front door.
Nice
Looking good Ken, I live about 25 miles from your town, and a few days ago I had 2 black bears on my porch
Oh very nice. Yes they are out now
It always feels like I'm "cheating" if I'm doing this kind of work without wearing a tool belt. Not to mention, I'm WAY less than efficient without it since I'm constantly putting tools down without thinking and needing to "hunt" for them two minutes later. ;o(
Right. Finding tools is always a challenge
Ken, bears. Love chicken, but they don't like electricity!
Right
Retirement suits you. Being active makes it so much fun. 👍👍👍
Yes it does! Thanks
Put pot in the new larger one, fill then remove the old pot and put the plant in hole
Oh. Good idea
It's great. It looks like Fred dibnahs travelling van.
Haha cool
If the tiny house will be travelling on the road, does it need any type of permit, registration or inspection?
No it’s all within limits
need sign no bears allowed but you need to post in multiple languages world gone crazy sorry also brail please someone has to think of our blind bears too thank you
Haha I’m on it
Masterful!!! Fun to watch!
Thanks
Internal contents and wall linings is that included in your weight of the final product

Hi Ken
Just loving the tiny house you are MASTER of the wood
Thanks so much
Thanks
Looks amazing! Love that green
Thanks
Tiny house looking good Sir Ken!
Thanks 👍
Hey Ken, just out of interest, how are you doing on your weight loss ??? I've lost 37lb since the beginning of February, I'm aiming for a starter of another 35lb by Xmas, then I'll look at another target
Terrible on the weight loss I need to get back onto it. Sounds like you’re doing it!
Could silicone be used as an adhesive?
I don’t know if I would trust it
Exterior will need to survive 60+mph sustained wind (transport)
I won’t be going over 50 so that will help
@ 00:50 aren't you worried that the dead tree in the background will fall on your project ??
It’s gradually getting shorter
Thanks, Ken. Have a great day.
Thank you too
❤glad all ok when you checked on arrival home. I like the look of your tiny home🙏🙂
Thank you so much
@ 17:50 wear overalls and a tool belt isn't needed or a belt or suspenders, I like Liberty brand !!
Cool thanks
You can always tell a great craftsman by whether they take the time to make sure the little details are done right. Then you can trust that the big things are done right, too.
Thanks I appreciate it
Get a belt loop for your hammer
Right
Love the tiny house I need one.
Thanks. Yes you do! :)
👍👍👍❤❤❤
The blue hat looks great but will be even better when broke in like the old grey one!
Very true
Foarte frumoasă meserie.
Thanks
