Exciting! Roof going on today! You finished putting the trim around the windows and covering them with white coil stock flashing. I love the copper roofing material! I think putting in a lot more screws into the roof panels m is a great idea with the road speed it can be towed at. Used the nibbler to cut the last sheet. Is it still going to have the one inch overhang in the front? Too bad about forgetting the drill! It must get pretty tiring going up and down the ladders all the time. That's a great idea to add screws in the front side. The copper looks so nice! I like it too Ken, in the famous Al Lumnah fashion. I like how you prepared the ridgecap for the front of the tiny house. The Kenstead looks so pretty in the background. Too bad you ran out of battery Ken! Yay, the roof is done! Wow, 11 feet and 8 inches. That's good to know! Thanks for the drone shot around the roof Ken! Your tiny home is a beauty Ken. Thanks for the video!
I love the color Of the roof. Plus, the view of KENSTEAD Is FABULOUS. Good morning 🙏 KEN. Thank you. I look forward to the drive next Trip. GOD BLESS YOU. SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
That was satisfying! What a job. I felt all your aches and pains when you were finished. I am slowly getting the confidence for my build at the end of June thanks to you. I am not sure if I am going to put the metal on myself or not. I want a perfect job done so I wont have to have it replaced in my lifetime. But finding someone available might be tough. Also seeing how your building turned out completely square is making me raise my own expectations for my build. (I need to prepare myself for a bit of disappointment) Thanks again for taking the time to film all of this. It means a lot to me.
Fantastic my friend looks perfect..looking forward too the next video..I have been up on a roof all week over 100 degrees, I woke up the this the frist thing I said is NO MORE ROOFS ....my body can't handle it ..cutting the apron strings Ken today ...the younger guys are now going to do it ...thanks for the inspiration ,to let go lol lol..🌴🐊😎
❤Good Evening 🌌🌆 ken 🤩 Beautiful Roof you put on 1-2-3 so nice & easy 👍 can't wait to see the inside, riding it on Travl👍So Awsome you can take your little Home with you 🤩🌞🌻💫I would like to see 1 done in Metal 👍🙏🙌✨⭐🤞👌✌️🌅🌄🌟🌠🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
@ 15:38 this is where if you just had a board at the eave held by clamps all the sheets could lay/rest against ( because top is covered by ridge cap ) and you could fit all the way to the end and screw end piece and just fill in all the other screws needed
You always do a great job. The only critique/suggestion I would offer is, with the green paint and tan roof, I would use tan paint instead of the black and white on the trim. If you are still going to put battens on I’d do those in tan as well. Really would stand out. This is one really nice project.
Ken copper look 👀 great . When I done my hunting & fishing lodge use hunter green with copper for face . I pre drill my roof metal 16” on centre because we hurricane wind 💨 in Newfoundland from last October to end of March . It’s own extra bags of metal screw . Ken I drill 5 pcs or sheet together with a good drill bit. I must be lucky drill all roof with one bit. You and I know everything got to be level and square for everything to come together from start to finsh ken . 😊
Yep, you did look pooped at the end. Can't wait to see the road trip and the weight ! I actually had a great young painter come today to apply another coat of rubber membrane on the roof on my tiny house (25 sq mtrs) The roof is 4200mm off the ground ...... too high for me to get up on at 66yo now. Was a beautiful sunny winters day here in country Victoria, Oz, 16C
Ken, I am really enjoying your tiny house build. Love the color choice on your metal. Does the roofing fabricator up there not handle rake trim? That would have wrapped the edges of your roof stopping wind uplift.
Oh! Did not expect that color for the roof. Thought for sure you'd go with black. But that looks great as well. As someone we know would say, "I LIKE IT!" 😂
Let it rain ... Let it rain ... Let it rain! Looks awesome. Love the copper tin. Kenstead is looking great with the vegetation. It looked like you got the other tree transplanted into the large pot. So far, through 12 episodes we've seen blood and sweat ... (no tears please). haha
Good Morning Ken. i Love watching your videos. Love your attention to all of the details. love the copper colored roofing. the tiny house is looking Awesome! :)
Glad you all safe from climbing all over the roof. I have wonky knees and that's why I have great simpathy with you getting up and down those ladders. It looks great. Now for the inside. Love it. 🙏❤️
'PERFECT' Great job Ken. Since I retired in 2021 I have build two storage buildings. One is four X 8 X 7 feet tall, other is four X 6 X 6 feet tall. These are replacing an old storage building that I demolished and took out. They were made low enough to put on covered patio. The part I did not like the most was the roof. Medications make me unsafe at the top of the ladder, but I got them done. Metal roofs on both. I moved about 90% of my woodworking and outside work to covered patio. Allows me to park car in garage, which I like. Thanks again I enjoyed.
I also love copper roofing with dark green siding. Our home and chicken complex are those colors. Our window trims are dark. We're building a cabin and cut sycamore framing lumber today. The sawdust is also a copper color and has a sweet fragrance.
@ 25:29 Ken add some simple closeable shitters to that front window so when you go down the road you won't have to worry about that front window being smashed, broken or cracked ( ounce prevention worth pound cure ) by limbs, rocks or kids with baseballs LOL do kids still do that ( get off my lawn !!! )
Nice looking color on that roof Ken! It looked like a missing screw during your drone coverage at 26:20 on about the fifth ridge in on the ridge cap. When you were walking the roof earlier it was there but not during the drone footage. Maybe you caught it earlier or it was just editing…or probably just my eyesight😆. Great job. Keeping fingers crossed on the weight.🤞
with the spray foam crew you could do some shipping containers like Al and Gina did ( and they haven't shown lately ) cause shipping containers are easy to move anywhere and you could have one dropped in your driveway and work on at your leisure / I bet I can keep you busy enough that you will want to retire all over again LMAO
@ 9:40 especially on such a small roof, I wonder ( if no wind mind you ) why you don't just lay all 8 or 10 sheets on roof ( dey fit ) and then screw so you can square, adjust, or generally get all measurements right, screw the four corners and then fill in all the rest of the screws / it might alleviate adjusting each sheet as you go ???
The project is going great. I am indifferent to the copper roof, black trim, white doors and trim. Looks busy for me, others will love it. My concern is for your test drive and actual drive to its final destination. The weight of the house itself will not keep it on the base trailer. I may have missed the part of carriage bolting it to the trailer. Be careful and drive safe.
Looking great, Ken! Are you still going to build drawers for the space in the trailer? Enjoyed the video, hope you have a great day, and take care of those knees!
just episode 12, but I think you semi-retirement may be interrupted by requests to build many more of these ( you may have to reopen that modular home factory you closed/sold ) hopefully you could sit in the office and supervise
Ken, great job. Have you heard that Gina and Al lost one of their cows to it falling and breaking it's neck? Both are pretty well sad of the whole situation.
@ 25:00 get a full time spray foam crew as the 24 on center will be more feasible because spray foam stiffens and adds structure to any building and you could save material as some of the jack studs and cripples could be eliminated
side hustle, run drone for insurance companies or roofing companies / saves them money from sending people on rooves and injuries caused / many insurance companies you drones after national disasters to assess damages and roofing companies to show damages to crew and home / business owners to explain what needs to be fixed
you do know this type of metal roof will fail within ten yrs. as soon as the washer fails the roof is compromised. Ok for a tiny house but junk otherwise.
Ken just like everything I've seen you build over the years you did a great job on the tiny house like I said before put it in back yard be great house to put your in laws when they visit great video Ken

Looks awesome Ken.
And I am so happy you didn’t fall.
I worry about you.
You are so funny.
Hope you rested well afterwards.
Thanks. I did!
The copper colored roofing looks great against the green. Keep cool. Thanks for your efforts!
Thanks 👍
it sure does, great choice for colours.

God bless you, Sir. Roofers have one of the hardest job.
Ya ! I was a painter for 35 years and we Could mostly try to paint out of the sun
But you guys didn't have a choice
I'm curious, what is the ball park figure to build something that size?
To quote someone we all know and love... PERFECT!
Haha thanks
@@kenskarpentry They had a tragedy and lost George. They are devastated. It was such a sad event. My heart broke for them.

Chickens don't like drones because they're perceived to be Dronehawks. It's a lovely building. 👍👍👍
Right. Thanks
Nice job Ken. It really looks nice. Are you going to tie down the bathroom shower stall before you take it for a test drive?
Thanks. Yes definitely

Haha
It's looking just "perfect", truly beautiful. Love the color combinations. Great job!
Thanks
That roof looks like a golden pagoda. Love how the color it goes with the green and black.
Thanks
The copper metal roofing is the icing on the cake; looks great.
Thanks so much
Next you have to build a Taco Wagon!
Ooooh
Ken, I am really enjoying your tiny house build. Love the color choice on your metal.
Does the roofing fabricator up there not handle rake trim? That would have wrapped the edges of your roof stopping wind uplift.
I don’t knew
the chickens think the drone is a futuristic chicken hawk

Ken, noticed that you are missing a screw!!!;o), at the ridge, time 29.19......;o)
Haha. I need to look for it
Oh! Did not expect that color for the roof. Thought for sure you'd go with black. But that looks great as well. As someone we know would say, "I LIKE IT!" 😂

It’s a beautiful tiny house so far. 😊

Beautiful roof. You did a great job. To chickens, a drone must look like an eagle or a hawk.
Right as well as the noise

@ 4:15 aw. the conundrum, screw on the ridges or in the flats, someone will one day give us the definitive answer ?
Haha
Going to need to cover the front window when traveling. May of wanted to caulk/seal the leading edge of the roof.
Thanks
They used to put foam under the ridge cap, is that not a thing anymore? The place looks fabulous Ken
I want the roof to breathe underneath coming up through that ridge cap

It maybe the video but your ladder looks pretty much 90 degrees. Like the ends of your ridge cap.
Yes probably the video
looks fantastic Ken, I sure hope you tie down that shower stall before you take off. Very interested to see what it weighs out as.

Screw it down? Looks great! Awesome color scheme.

Yes, it was so sad to hear about Lumnah's loosing George!!! Definitely a difficult thing to deal with!!!
Yes that was sad
The roof is finished, and the color is amazing!
Thanks
Will the soffit be white or black, and what kind?
Black sheathing
Good morning

Nice looking roof Ken! A touch of class.
Yes definitely
Love your videos
Thanks
Glad to see that the roofing got underlayment before the roof went on… unlike the chicken coop 😎
Thanks
nice job Ken anymore trim on the outside or that up to the new owners?
Still quite a bit of work to do on the outside
Is there a reason that you don't use closures for the ridge?
I want it to breathe
I have lost track of the exterior dimensions with the added trim boards and now the roof hanging out another inch. Are we still under 8 ft 6 in wide for legal road travel?
Close. The eaves are 8’7”
Just curious why you picked green paint for tiny house and black coil stock for trim ,but copper roof...why not silver ,or black roof????..its beautiful.. but not sure it fits a look id want!!
Thanks everyone’s tastes are different
Those were the customers choices. Ken sold it early on in the build.
Thank you ken, was just curious ,but thank you for answering my question...I agree ,customer choice, so you do it!!..I love the copper roof...,and I love the paint color..but I may have done white coil stock trim if I was customer and buying the custom tiny home ,you're doing an amazing job!!
