- Hear from a Filipino nurse about why she regrets coming to work in Ireland. Learn about the challenges and struggles that she faced, including cultural differences and homesickness. If you're considering working in Ireland as a nurse, this video will give you firsthand insight into what to expect.
About the accent--I say this as someone who is not living in Ireland but married to an Irish person and regularly visit the country---the Irish are very understanding (at least that is my experience). If you did not get what they are saying due to their accent, you can ask if they can repeat it. Maiintindihan naman nila yon. Ireland has a history of immigration as well so most would understand your situation as someone adapting to their culture because they themselves probably experienced leaving Ireland for economic reasons too or know someone who did. Again, based lang ito sa experience ko being married for 23 years and have gone back to Ireland on a regular basis. So do not be shy or be afraid of asking them if they can slow it down or if they can repeat what they just said. Now, if they are rude (in case lang that you get a negative response), well at least you tried. You are the bigger and better person.😊
Income, expense like assets vs liabilities are something we have to be aware of in life. Here in the US esp in California, although the salary is higher than any states. Everything is relative. Taxes, interest rates, cost of living in general is atmospherically high. People’s mentality is about money, some wants to have more or need to have more because that’s how they act like hamster in the wheel. Too bad, we tend to worship money rather than things that also matter in life. And that is, your health. We don’t value as much, procrastinate our medical check ups, take time to exercise more rather than work overtime, spend more on things we don’t need, and not having common sense to manage finances. Balance is the key, wherever you are in the world, how much you earn and spend, happy or not, just think of balance. In California, we struggle to pay taxes almost half of what we earn. That money could have gone elsewhere like savings right? That’s the lesson and to be smart, add more on your retirement, savings, and spend less on what you can afford or just need. Travel is fine, make sure you’re healthy, having big houses, investments in the Philippines like condo, land, businesses, that’s great you’re helping our economy. But never worship the golden calf. GOd is not asleep. Give some to charity, your family and relatives, or start a charity yourself. Life is long, not short, you have more days, months and years to fulfill this. Bottom line is, ireland, UK, US, Asia- your mentality is the one on drive mode, be smart.
Ang ganda nitong vlog na ito. You just don’t know how it suddenly inspired me and gave me more hope. Keep on doing this. More power.
Hey , thank you! That’s very thoughtful ❤️ happy to help! More power to you too Russel!
Gratitude is the best attitude ika nga. Whatever is in the table.
Agree🙌🏼
Well said.
True, im very domesticated and independent so hindi ako na culture shock pag dating ko dito, di rin po ako na homesick...kasi marunong ako makipag kapwa at mag connect sa friends ko. Nagluluto at gumagala kahit mag isa.
Good topic, Nurse Boyet and love your perspective. If I may also add that our own lived experience can be very different from each other so the way we view things, the way we we adapt, the way we address challenges and rise up to it, would also be different. Our motivations can also be different--I know most people will look to salary as a major motivation and that is fine. Others might however look for life/work balance. So even if salaries are higher in the U.S. perhaps generous timeoff or professional development plus enough pay (equitable pay), or proximity to mainland Europe (for travel) might be sufficient. I hope folks would also consider the totality of being in Ireland i.e. sometimes, it's not all about the money (well, to some maybe 😊). I also find that you make your own reality i.e. to your point, Boyet about that quote, "Wherever you go, there you are."
Hi thnk you for sharing your thoughts po ☺️very wel explained. I totally agree with the fact that money is nit the only factor why we do what we do and we live where we live, Money is important at a certain level but there is more to life that gives more lasting fulfilment and happiness than money and material possessions. Thank you
More power sir! God bless you always.
Awww, sorry hahah and God bless you too as well ❤️❤️

@@BoyetVentura Keep doing what you do, sharing our OFW lives - a lot of lessons learned! Thank you!
Love the quote you mentioned on the last part of your vlog..thanks for sharing..👍
I have been working as a nurse here in Dublin for 6+ years , but moving to USA soon. Hindi ko kinakaya ang winter talaga and also the weather in general. Not to mention the rising cost and crazy rent (Poor quality of Life). I live in a shoebox apartment. I'd like to believe I am not prone to depression, pero it hit me. Pati mga friends ko.
I can actually understand where you are coming from. I feel it too. Every once in a while ang hirap paglabanan ng winter , ng dark and cold, plus we are too far away from home. Mahirap. I have thoughts of moving somewhere where there is sun. But, I havent made any move yet hehehe. Hopefully magkaroon din ako ng lakas ng loob like you guys.
I hope you move to a state where the weather is mild (not too hot, not too cold and no bitter winters like California). And best of luck with the move.
Hindi Po ba mganda sir sa Ireland
@@aristondesingano3703 hello, may pros and cons. Depende kung anu ung magnda for you. Hehehe.
I agree - frugality makes us creative
Yes thats true about not relying on someones experience.. we have our own path with different experiences. However those experiences from others may also serve as our learnings. We cant say its a success, if we didnt experience failure.
Lear from each other’s experiences , if we’re lucky it can prevent us from making the same mistakes, but everyone has their own path which just have to choose wisely which path to take, that is aligned with our values and goals 😊❤️🙏🇮🇪
Very well said , thank you!
Napaka ganda ng message sa. Huli.
Thank you. Im sure hindi basehan ang pag aabroad. We cann all be successful in our own terms, in our own condition, and our own definition of successful and happy. ❤️
weather..mahirap ang work kasi sobra lamig(field worker)
work load...iba ang work nila dito, as in lagi red bull, no lunch break.
terrain..mostly rural area ang Ireland, puro fields, maputik at lagi basa ang place of work.
nag research din naman, ngunit kulang..we dont lose, we just learn from it..kaya laban lang, hanggat kaya.❤
Gusto ko yung sinabi mo na we dont lose, we just learn ❤️🙏 thank you for sharing your insights ❤️❤️
Hi! Currently working here in Saudi Arabia as an HD nurse, ask ko lang sana kung marami bang hiring ng HD nurse dyaan sa IRELAND? and baka may alam kang AGENCY na pwedeng mag process ng papers going to ireland. Salamat po and more power!
hello. about to leave for Ireland to work as a Nurse. This helps a lot.
Hello! Thank you. It’s nice to hear that somebody finds this helpful. Congratulations! Where in Ireland will you be working? ❤️
I live in Melbourne, one of the cities in Australia. I don’t know the difference between cost of living in Ireland and Australia but yes, times are hard but keep trying.
thank you , what's it like to live in Melbrourne?
@@BoyetVentura the weather is 90% of the time its cloudy, 10% you will get some sun in Melbourne. many international students come here for work, study. Many skyscrapers 🏙 Many tourists. You can explore many great places in Melbourne. It’s great 😊
@@nguyenn99527 sounds like an amazing place❤️ thank you for sharing🙏
I am irish nurse in uk and have worked with philipino nurses and think they are great workers and nice people.
Awwww. That is very kind to hear ❤️🙏 any chance of coming back to Ireland to practice?
@@BoyetVentura . No, my home is in uk now. But i still love ireland.
Wala bang ibang OFW na ibang profession na hindi nurse ang pwede ifeature sa vlog mo like working on a resto, or maybe DH or in aviation maintenance industry? Why don't you try to feature them in your vlogs instead of your fellow nurses, and interview them about their work, and how they manage to stay sa Ireland amidst of cost of living doon? Why can't you do that in your next feature?
Sila pa nag sosory kapag hindi na hit yung vein kapag nag cacanulate 😅😅, sbhn nila sorry my veins are not good enough 😅
Here in U.S too, patients gets to be very demanding, if not the relatives...
Hello, my mga tao tlgang mas preferred ang city living, then Mero din nmng preferred un countryside, bsta kung saan mas happy ,follow your heart ❤️ thanks for sharing ;)
Hello Boyet. Thanks for this vlog and I have subscribed. Like you, I will be relocating to Ireland, with my nephew and his wife, hopefully in the Killarney area. We will buy a house and rent rooms through AirBNB etc. So I am very interested in foreigners who have relocated to Ireland. Best regards from Anthony Slark, Bournemouth, England.
Hello Anthony! Glad to know ! Killarney is lovely , so , so pretty, love it there. Never knew non - filipinos would be watching my vlogs - so grateful you find it interesting ❤️☘️🙏
Agree ako kahit saan nasa tao yan.. Waiting for my petition in less than 2 years 🙏(God will). New york cya pero galing sa Sultanate of Oman for 8 yrs as HD nurse...
@@bethjose2116 wow!!! Congratulations po in advance.
Hello! I believe basta stamp 4 visa holder kana meaning permanent resident kana sa Ireland ( which is after 2 years) , so mukhang mas mabilis jan sa states hehehe ng 1 year
ganda naman nun "wherever you go, there you are" actually totoo yan haha
Heheh.

Hello!!!! Tips ??? Hmmmm. I’m not sure anu ang coverage ng interview for healthcare assistant eh. But , I suppose may nagsbi sakin, be honest if you don’t know the answer don’t invent things - be truthful to the answer but at the same time let then know that you are very eager to learn and work on the things na wala k pa experience. i think if you’ve studied yung mga falls, how to prevent, what to do? Hand hygiene?isolation precautions? -TBH hindi ko alam ang itatanong sa mga HCA’s but ang alam ko mga gnagwa ng HCAs -- helping nurses to turn patients, feeding , stocking up supplies, taking vital signs ( sa ibang wards they do vital signs) handling and caring for infectious/non infectious waste, assisting patients on Activities of daily living…
Wala tlga ako idea eh but practical tips maybe , think for a few seconds before answering questions, dont memorise answers, be polite and respectful but at the same time be yourself, its easy to say dont be nervous but usually youll answer better if you’re less nervous. Speak clearly, they will assess your communication skills as well , communication is a big part of the job.
Sorry If im not able to answer your question clearly , but hopefully that helps ( even a little)
@@BoyetVentura thank you so much sir atleast you give me some tips isa pa naman sa problema ko is kabado ako. Pero sa mag sinabi mo na BE TRUE and HONEST I think mas maganda yun kesa nga naman magmukhang scripted ang isasagot ko sa questions nila. Salamat ulit sir and god bless 🙏❤️
@@custodiolabaniego2105 goodluck, you can do it, if you're nervous sabi nga nila fake it until you make it, one advice na nakuha before, if you're struggling with confidence, maybe think like you're acting.. and your character is a confident person, act for that 15 -20 minutes of interview ( they don't know you anyway)...you'll do great. but remember polite confidence is different from arrogance and overconfidence:) Congrats in advance.
