Thanks for the shoutout !! I hope your patrons enjoy the T Shirt ! :D
You got it Regis!
Hey, seriously tho, where did you get that shirt? I never realized till now that I need a Hero Quest shirt in my life.
Fox Toxic There is a link in my description where you can buy it :)
Thank you! 😃
@@foxtoxic9722 You got it Fox :)
Really what you're doing is visual storytelling. Every choice you make in the details helps tell part of the story. If you had made a straight tree with green foliage and there were fully clothed people, not decaying, it tells a completely different story. Maybe something happened recently, like the people were hanged for being witches. You did skeletons on a bare tree. Their skin decayed a while ago, their clothes are in shreds and one skeleton has been there so long it fell apart as the vultures sit by with all the meat gone. You don't need words, the image tells the story. Cool!
luvz2reed Very cool insight into the piece!
It's a joy to watch original works and ideas. Not only the "traditional" ideas with foam and the likes. Very well done, congratulations.
Thank you Zombieland III. Definitely a fun project.
Great job on the tree. Quick tip for doing rope with hanging objects attached to them like bodies, bells, etc. Lightly weight the object that is hanging in order to pull the string taut, then apply CA glue to the string /rope, and accelerate it . The "rope" will dry hard and straight and looks more realistic. A hanging rope with little bends or curves in it gives an odd look( see body on left at 00:16 and body on right at 26:26). This also works with hanging chains and such. If you want it to be able to swing just break it at the pivot points. Cheers
firehigh38 Great tips, thanks.
I don't use twine for such things, get your thinnest copper wire (salvaged from a motor for a lifetime supply) and twist two bits into a braid. It's both smaller and can be shaped to realistic shapes. Good for all your rope needs.
@@davidbrown4849 I like that idea.
If you don't want to mess with clay, wet crepe paper (like party streamers) and wrap it around the trunk and branches after the foil. Then spray it with a 50/50 mix of water & PVA glue. The crepe paper gives a fantastic bark-like texture without the need for sculpting. If you need it more rigid after it dries, give it a coat of Modpode.
I'll check that out!
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT the wet paper is not always easy to deal with, but it just takes a bit of playing to get used to how much to wet it first. I give it a light spray- just enough to get it to stick to itself as you wrap. Then spray a little more so you can work out any air bubbles. Once you hit it with the pva/water mix and let it dry, the result is solid.
I gave it a try and I am very happy with how it worked out so far. I decided to give the base more attention and added a tombstone and flocking and I really like the project! Thanks!
Sounds awesome, glad the video helped you out.
Where you mixed the colors together so they would be cohesive is the same technique I used in frosting my decorative cakes..we called it browning. You are very informative and knowledgeable. And you are opening up a whole new world of miniatures to me. Thank you!
Thank you Edie :) Cool to see how both of our hobbies cross over! I'm glad to hear the video has expanded your world of miniatures !
Nice build! I happened to build a hanged man’s tree at the same time. I used hot/cold water baths to shape the mini’s into a hanging position. Fantastic stuff, man! Keep it up!
The Artist Dm Yeah I ended up cutting the arms off the Zombie, reattaching, filling with greenstuff, then painting. That video can be seen on my Patreon Account. Thanks !
I love how it can be used as a set piece for a campaign or just a display piece
josh gregory I agree :)
Honestly, this tree looks eerie enough by itself, even more so without the handing corpses than with them. Maybe it's the paintjob, but it really gives me the impression of a creature from Silent Hill. As in; the Otherworld misinterpreting a person's subconcious memory of a tree and manifesting it as a twisted, branching mass of _flesh._
I really need to get me some of that clay...
RokuroCarisu Perfect! As long as it gives you the creeps mission accomplished:)
That tree looks great! Thanks for sharing.
Jacob Hope You got it. Thanks Jacob.
The tree of woe!!
Oh yeah!
Great build! I’ve been using Sculpey Premo for about a week now and find it quite nice to use.....I made some medieval tents in 15mm for my DBA armies. This will make a great center piece for any DnD campaign! Thanks for sharing!
Andy Gorman Thanks Andy. I’m really enjoying working with it too. The tents sound interesting!
Tabletop WitchCRAFT hahah, yeah the tents were made for a camp base, for the game DBA, and then I thought I should make some scenic scatter....inspired by your ideas! Cheers for being a resource of ideas and techniques! Looking forward to the next vid 😉
All the differents steps are very interesting. Love your T Shirt too !
Patrick Massé Thank you Patrick.
You should think about getting a past machine/roller if you use modeling clay alot. It makes rolling out sheets of clay a lot easier and faster.
Yes, I've thought about it. That just might happen!
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT I use to do it by hand with an acrylic rod as well then remembered I had an old pasta roller that I never used so I tried it out and man did it make things so much faster as well as getting the same thickness all the way through.
I even made texture sleeves for it so I could roll stone, brick and the like in not only clay but foam as the one I had you could set the thickness of the "pasta", in my case clay and foam. And was able to crank out walls cobblestone streets and the like extremely fast.
@@seangere9698 Great idea, how can you made your texture rollers?
@@zombielandiii2711 I used PVC pipe and a dremel to carve a negative texture pattern into it. Then I would slip the PVC "sleeve" over the roller. Then just adjust the thickness i needed and rolled out the clay or foam. A note on the sleeves. If you just slide them over the roller bar that's already on the pasta roller they either need to be extremely snug almost to the point that they don't want to go on so they don't slip on the roller or you have to use rubber of some kind, like O rings, to keep the sleeves from slipping on the roller and not rotating as you turn the crank.
That was so awesome. Love the dark, gothic-ness to it.
Sean Ward Thank you Sean, and yes!
Tabletop WitchCRAFT haha, I edited my comment asking if you’d be doing more of this stuff, I subbed today and realised you had lots of this stuff already, I didn’t need to ask 😂
Sean Ward It’s all good. Thanks for subscribing!
I've got a video suggestion. I played D&D many years ago when we were using hand drawn maps and the books, so playing with these cool miniatures is something new. How about a video of some folks actually playing D&D using these? Show us how they are used in actual gameplay? Considering that each game is a series of adventures you might even be able to make another series of videos of D&D adventures kind of like the what the Deerstalker Pictures folks are doing.
All of your projects are really great, and using your flickering torch and bonfire ideas I'm making a fire for a miniature library my mom has.. and yes, I used the affiliate links to order the LEDs and tubing.
Hi Jeff, I appreciate the support and I have been toying with the idea of a series aside from my crafting showcasing some of these builds in action. Probably not coming out too soon, but we'll see :)
Love the video as always. The only thing that rubs me wrong is the body positioning of the minis, one of my favorite tricks for that is hitting my mini's with a hair-dryer for a few seconds to make them more pliant, then using good rubber bands to reposition the limbs or body to suit my need. Also, the soundfx on your intros tend to be a little loud, washing out your voice for the description. Again, love the content, can't wait to get my own videos up and hopefully get your opinions too.
Dade Thanks for the feedback Dade.
Nice build! Also, nice Heroquest T-shirt! :D Been really enjoying your videos.
Perry Grosshans Thanks Perry. That’s where it all began for me.
Thanks for this video. You continue to motivate us to keep crafting
The Crafting Brothers Thanks :)
This is awesome! I need to try to make a version of this for a Halloween diorama I'm trying to get done in time. Thank you!
Erin Shoemate You got it. Check out my gravestone video. That might give you a few ideas as well. Thanks for watching.
Very spooky! :D The hanging bodies really sell it!
Jagelsdorf Creates Thanks :)
OMG. It's time to show how the Evil Horde is evil. this gone be an epic MOTU diroma.
Oh yeah, love to hear it hahah.
Cool build, really enjoyed it.
Ian Cobb Thanks Ian. Give it a shot.
Fantas video as always buddy loved the little embellishments really maid the tree pop just gave it that little bit extra
Thanks Michael !
Super cool! I'm curious how it would look if the swinging minis were filmed in super slo mo mode. Would it feel more realistic?
RowUrBoatGently Aww man, yeah great idea.
That's awesomeness 😁
William Dodson Jr :) Thanks.
This is cool AF, hottie!
PS: you have the cleanest oven I ever seen 😂
TheEmanueleCastelli Thanks. :)
very good!
Thank you kozi fran.
Most of the XPS foam I find come is huge 4ft x 8ft sheets. How would you break something like that into more manageable sized pieces?
Hank Metzger Great question. Olfa Knife, and a large framing square for the rough cut ( you can make your final cut this way just go slow and use a new blade) then to the Proxxon. Check out tomorrow’s video, I cover these steps in the first few minutes of the video.
DUDE!!!!
Jimbo Hull :)
Hey that Grey and black primer . Can you use a paint brush if u don't have a air brush ?
You sure can!
Can you make a giant tree with a door In it and stairs that lead downward
Kenneth Young I can definitely add that to my list. Cool idea.
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT where do you get your foam from?
Kenneth Young Home Depot
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT ok ty. Nerds are cool again.

Nice build! What do you film on?
Scratch Bashing Thanks, you looking for software or camera info?
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT camera, please :)

Whats the song played in the intro?
groovy
Right on :)
Intro was nice, but the crow noises were too loud, when they were playing as you talked it made it impossible too hear you.
Cool build too.
Noted, thanks for the heads up.
