A highly polished demo with some stunning audio and visuals. The flip disc screen is jaw dropping - easily among the finest pixel art on any 8 bit platform. Incredible technical and creative talent on display here!
Mark Meric This comment means alot to me! Thank you. (The Sarge)
@@JoachimLjunggren You have a truly awesome talent Joachim. I hope your work is receiving huge recognition, and hope you continue creating on the C64 for many years to come.
8 months of hard work... 🚚 load of respect!
Awww this is made with love. Even shout outs to Spaceballs. Its a perfect demo.
A personal favourite of course, but I am severely biassed;)
from all of us at truckstop alaska, thank you!
I have fond memories of Rubicon and the multitude of awesome loading pics/gfx by The Sarge. This is the some of best colour work I've seen. Top stuff.
I like Rubicon too. :D
Thanks! :)
One of the best C64 demos I've ever seen! Hell, just one of the best demos period! Amazing GFX and unbelievable music! Best piece of music I've heard coming out of a C64. What a mighty talent you have! The C64 continues to delight and surprise me even after getting mine 37 years ago! LOVE it! 💘
Humble thanks - I share your opinion over this demo :)
An absolutely stunning demo, in every regard. Really love it - easily straight into my top 5.
The music, the art and the coding are all flawless. Utterly flawless.
Nice! Was hoping to see some acknowledgment to Reyn Ouwehand though!
Reyn is great but this all ours.
Well done, keep the 64 alive!!!
insane to remember the last ninja music after all this years.
a game that had the best music but lacked resonable code for moving the character yet computer magazines where giving it 100%. the joystick were more or less challenged apart from just walking.
they didn't adress this in all the 3 versions of the game so the only customers from the first would be hardcore noob heads that did not mind the crazy, odd steering in game. surprised no one did a better job.
I'd say it was quite alright. But this is of course our demo alluding the game
Now that's what you call a fucking tribute!
when dreams come true 👍
Wonderful homage to one of the best game intros on the C64. Glad you also done the LN3 end tune. Well done guys!
Humble thanks :)
Everything about this demo is amazing
An absolute masterpiece! (How in the flipping heck can somebody down-vote this? They must be envious, I guess).
Cool, loved the last ninja nostalgia too. Used to trade with Northstar and Fairlight many eons ago. Rex had Northstar stickers on the amiga 3.5" disks, so leet lol. Great work on the demo.
Some memories, like waiting for the postman to deliver the next bundle of disks will last forever!
Thanks for getting me through my surgery recovery Fairlight, with your crunchy basslines & 3d graphics
best scroller i ever saw
OUTstanding work. as always
Humble thanks
I love the style!
Awesome! The first C64 demo I've ever seen - wow! :)
That deep SID bass is something
Its a demo with a storyline, music, graphics and great code. One of the demos we are the most proud of.

W O N D E R F U L ! ! !
great idea!
👌
Scrolling pics in hires mode like that. What the hell, using VSP and FLD or what?
Run it in Retro debugger to find out :)
LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG!!!!!!!!!!
maybe it's time for you guys to produce some good games instead demos for the grey box, and cash in.
you know... make good use of your talents. cheers. (top demo by the way)
I work as a graphic designer doing motion graphics etc. So making these demos is something else. Its doing something you love without any money involved. Noone telning you what to do. And this is how it all started for me without any plan to make a living out of it. /The Sarge - Fairlight.
We enjoy people, and don't do this for the money. This might have enjoyed people more than what a possible game project would have ever done...
Any mods to the machine playing this? This is just too wild to be running on a stock breadbox.
It runs on a standard C64 afaik.
Yes, its a standard C64. The only mod is that the demo runs from an USB stick instead of a floppy disk in the 1541 diskdrive, but that is emulated and does not give the C64 better speed or more features. It just makes it more convenient and safe than using old 5 1/4 disks.
@@JoachimLjunggren No argument there. I keep an eye out on Ebay for any CF drives I could get here in the states. They are plentiful over there, but I don't want to pay shipping! I got murdered when I bought that new C-64 board.
DID I SEE SPRITE ROTATION????
You see sorcery. Proudly provided :)
does't sound right compared to the original
It's recorded directly from real C64 hardware, depending which model C64 you use it will sound slightly different.
hq
that was bloody brilliant. loved all it it
Love it. Thank you.
