2:11 I have both the Apple M1 iPad pro 12.9" and the Samsung Tab S7 FE. I'm currently trying to teach myself Python, and from my personal experience, the S7 FE is hands down better than my iPad Pro,. My reasons: 1. The SPen doesn't feel like tapping on glass when I write notes. 2. Multitasking on the S7 FE is mind blowinging better than my iPad. 3. I've been using Samsung Dex since 2019 on the s6. I literally cannot live without it. It has some mild limitations to an actual laptop, but for something that combines 2 in 1 for the size you can't beat it if you're a student Edit: my s6 has been so well loved the bookcase keyboard 1/2 the keys letters are scratched off from use and there's 1 medium sized crack on screen. But I've been holding out till release of s9. For 4 years of use, all I've noticed is some slight slow down. Nothing major

@@LUNACYSI recommend restarting your phone and/or tablet at least once a month or every two months to liberate RAM space. Some recommend even turning off and on instead of reset. This doesn't damage your archives (just save them normally before doing it) and it actually speeds up your device. Also, this doesn't close your apps either, just erases your notifications.
@HarrisCraycraft, Even though you are an Apple user, you were really objective when it came down to your opinions about the tablets on each section because your opinions were rooted in facts. It was nice to watch a video where there wasn't an evident bias towards one or the other which made it a lot easier to make a well informed decision. So, thank you for that.
One thing you failed to mention is the ipad lack gps unless you get the cellular version, which is quite a bit more money. Also, the file manager on ios devices is severely amputated, which get painfully obvious when you want to open a file in a multiple of applications, or you want to transfer files back and fro to a computer. Those 2 reasons alone are enough for me not to buy an ipad ever again.
This is why I love android devices. All you have to do is plug it into your computer and then open the folder you want and drag and drop. With Apple, they make you jump through hoops with different apps just to copy your files, pictures and music between devices. Before anyone says just use the cloud, NO. The cloud requires having a constant connection and I prefer not having to worry about that.
@@stevenalexander4721 At the base of all of that is the Apple attitude of "my way or the highway", an attitude that is reflected in everything they do and make. What is extremely surprising though, is their ability to market themselves, successfully I might add, as the complete opposite of what they actually are.
I have had the iPad pro seemingly every newest and supposedly latest and greatest model year after year up until a year ago when I decided to get the Samsung Tab S8. I wasted so much money on Apple overall and basically allowed myself to get caught up in their truly great ecosystem even though I was fully aware of their grossly overpriced accessories that are very literally marked up by in some cases, 500 percent. I however don't deny that IOS is the smoothest most fluid OS on the planet. Haven said that I use my Tab S8 for most everything to include recording my UA-cam videos on and as well it's essentially become my TV. My smart TV just sits in my place turned off and UA-cam is my TV. I decided for the most part to boycott apple which is quite difficult to do. Today I have two apple products. One, is the best iPad 6th gen mini 8.3 inch that is in my the best and only true iPad left because it isn't competing with Mac books which then apple limits the iPad pro tablets to only be allowed to operate at maybe half their actual multi dimensional use so they are governed to dare not impact Mac sales and thus a huge waste of money and their true potential. Second product I have is the airpods pro 2nd Gen but not the 2nd Gen second edition lol. I use my iPad 6th Gen mini occasionally due to the ease of one had use and with my airpoods pro. 95 percent of the time I'm using my Tab S8 or my flagship android phone. Coupled with all my Bluetooth Speakers and three sets of non apple earbuds. Apple today operates regardless of the words they say they do for the betterment of their customers, which is greed, money, power, and market dictation of the US mobile industry. If you have any reason to doubt that then step back and take a look at what current flagship phones within the US that you seriously have to pick from. Easy. The answer is just one, Samsung and apple must have Samsung and I assure you apple allowed Samsung to be their one and only major android competitor for a reason. You can say Google pixel but in reality the pixel will never pose any profit margin threat to apple, ever. Never. Apple defies economics 101 and is a illegally iegaized true life monopoly. Apple has absolute say as to which mobile companies are allowed to partake in what otherwise would be known as US free market enterprise. They need Samsung but only Samsung. Samsung knows this and as such over the past 3 to 4 years have produced their products cutting corners at every intersection. They used to make the most premium products bar none with every feature and more across their entire phone lineup but only the Ultra gets their very best of the best with the rest getting sub par at best. Fortunately right now and at the moment their tablets are excellent but it's only a matter of time until they begin corner cutting on their flagship tablets. They kind of really already have like their phones with the smaller the cheaper and lesser features. Tab S8 TFT LCD display and all their other flagship tabs Oled displays. Thankfully the Tab S8 has the same internals such as the processor and their LCD is top notch. I just don't agree with the way apple bases their every decision off those four key factors and the customers still blindly follow. The Tab s8 is great! I'm using it to type this and to have watched this. However their are tons of other great tablets that the US will never be given the choice of. So Samsung it is and my only other option. Peace
Our iPad Air 2 was purchased in 2014. Although it is receiving iPad OS updates each update is asking for more power thus the hardware as expected is struggling. Sometimes touch does not work very well thus needing a reboot, cold boot takes 0:45 seconds, as apps are updated, they require more processing power. Often working with multiple apps or a browser having numerous tabs open, hardware takes a hit we did not experience years ago. Yes, it is outstanding Apple provides long support, yet the extended length of time may not be worth using devices that long. Technology changes at lightspeed thus four-year support cycle is very acceptable. By the four-year mark, many folks would require a change in devices. If after four years the device functions to your liking keep it, use it, enjoy it, however it will be time for a upgrade.
Sorry to hear that about the Air 2. I know my sister is using an old Air 2 and having a different experience; hers is working quite well for her basic purposes. So I wonder if it’s a battery issue
Well, It lasted 8 years. The touch problem is very interesting but still is working not perfect but not bad I suppose. And that is not a flag ship device so its normal in my view. It's 8 years for a non flagship its a deal for me. And they are very well priced as well
I have tab s8+ and ipad pro 2018. The display of Tab S8+ of course out do ipad pro 2018. I love samsung dex, shifting from one app to another feels like laptop. One thing tho, since my job leans towards writing and reading, I use more apps like microsoft word, excel and pdf reader. Tab S8+ could help me a lot if they can open multiple windows for microsoft. However, the performance of microsoft on Tab S8+ is less efficience than what iPad Pro could do. Microsoft on iPad can add references from Mendeley. My ipad covers almost 70% of my work in this case, while tab S8+ less than 50%. It's a shame tho because the samsung tab with dex could do much better. I hope Samsung can develop their own Microsoft for tablet, not rely on android's development only. For entertainment, I like using my tab, from watching to gaming.
Of course, Office is still very limited, and Adobe costs extra for all those functions. So if you want to pay to have them in one app you can, but there are a lot of good alternatives that are better/more affordables.
Coming from an ipad and now owning a tab s8 I can say I can do quite a bit more with my samsung tablet. First of all I love how the sPen feels compared to apple pencil. But most iportaintly, the fact that I can just connect any bluetoooth mouse and keyboard to it and actually have an actual mouse on the screen (not a glorified circle) is huge for me. I don`t draw, so I can`t say mutch about that. But just the upsides from writing experience is worth it for me. I have now fully swithed from apple ecosystem (tablet, phone, laptop) to samsung and google (s23, tab s8, chromebook) and am loving it. They all work well together. Plus samsung dex is nice to have. Just the freedom of oppurtunities I get is what I like. I do miss some apps but so far I have managed to find alternatives where the original wasn`t available. That said, if you can`t give up your iphone then perhaps stick with an ipad. I know iMessage is big in US. But here in Europe we mostly use whatsapp or fb messenger so iMessage is`t really an issue. If you just want to poke around with an android tablet then perhaps look at the 2022 edition of tab s6 lite.
congrats, the microsoft apps work amazingly on samsungs unlike apple, which is weird since apple usually has the better optimisation, and they're much better to work on than any other app
I'm from the US and I use Facebook Messenger in place of my phones messenger because it does both SMS texting and the app messaging. I find it easy to use because all of the people in my contacts are on Facebook so I can just message them through it instead and see their messages across all my devices.
Back in 2019, I wanted a thin and light LTE device for note taking and college work. Surface Pro X was the perfect device because full blown browser and Microsoft Office. Lockdown browser was also required to exam/quiz taking and iPad or Samsung Tab didn’t support that.
What about the tab S8+? Wouldn't that be a better comparison to the iPad Pro than the tab S8? Personally I think that the S8 isn't a good comparison to the Pro.
I'm gonna correct you right there. No ipad is not ahead in terms of software. I have ipad pro 12.9 2020 and i envy even the Samsung tab s7 fe in terms of software. Samsung has freely resizable and floating windows capability. Ipad does not. It did however very recently launch the resize capability but it's only a few predetermined sizes. SO FRUSTRATING
Hey is any chance we can see dedicated video of just notes Apple vs Samsung just the basic Apple notes vs Samsung notes how they compare. Idk if u already make one or not. But just for a normal person that use notes from the start. Pre-installed what a user is getting extra or loosing if u choose one and other. That would be something that I would be interested bcs I’m Apple note taker for school and I’m doing it everything in Apple notes bcs why not. Everything I need is inside of Apple notes. Just wondering if something similar is on the “dark side”. If I explain it differently or hard way I’m sorry but hope u understand what I’m trying to say
I use tab s8 for schoolwork and i use the default samsung notes app. i do not however have much experience of apple notes outside of what i have seen in youtube videos. To my knowledge samsung notes has almost everything that apple notes has (minus apple specific things like icloud support etc), some of my go to features in samsung notes are: the possibility to customize the pages (backgrounds etc) with colors, guidelines and such, and one thing that was a significant difference at some point at least was that you can have pen inputs, over text and photos, which is really helpful for highlighting or marking text or adding extra "notes" on images (like explaining arrows), to my knowledge this feature is more limited on the apple notes.
@@IceBlueLugia not sure about the other two formats (haven't tested) but pdf importing works, and nowadays almost everything can be exported to be a pdf (like powerpoints and word documents) to then be able to be imported into samsung notes
I'm actually surprised about the cool Tab S8 features that I never heard of, but the whole video seemed very biased. No real side by side comparison and very little screen time for the iPad, although you seem to choose it in the end. This seems more promotional than an honest review.
@@HarrisCraycraft You forgot to mention that the ipads use dithering and PWM which cause alot of people health problems ,eye problems and headaches. where the samsung S8 does not.

I was in a similar situation a few months ago but decided to go with the tab s8. Perfect for my needs like note taking and editing pdf or class lectures with no problem at all. Both samsung and apple are really good but in my opinion I think the s8 should do fine. Unless u want an ipad, if thats the case then a regular ipad should be ok. M1 ipad pro is good but if it is for study purposes only I think is not worth paying a thousand dollars or even more unless u have the $ to do so.
If you are on a tight budget go for samsung tab. I used Samsung tab s3 the whole duration of medschool and used Samsung notes app and xodo for notetaking and annotating pdf books. Samsung notes app is as good as goodnotes or Notability. Survived medschool with just the S3.
Samee, i’m struggling because i want to ipad just for the fact that i want to try making art with it in my free time. But at the same time i’m used to android for school stuff, because of Word/Excel etc., and i’m not sure how your supposed to replace that on Apple products.
@@xoluciaxo_3721 the spen is really good. there are a ton of drawing apps for android that are as good or even better than procreate. for example i use krita which is a port of a DESKTOP drawing programm and has so many features.

Very excellent review! I might add just a few other comments, but otherwise you hit all the important points and I liked that gave the s8 credit where it’s due. I’m looking to purchase the iPad for universal control aswell tho 😂
I disagree with ipad being better for notetaking… You can’t organize folders on the homepage like you can with the samsung/android… That’s a make or break for me… How do you organize your notes on the ipad?

I just got the mini and I'm regretting it. Only thing it might be good (better) for is reading books. If you have a phone and a regular sized tablet, mini is just a money thrown away. Oh, its good for games too if you play. Its too small for drawing. To small to be used as a notebook. Even browsing is kind of tedious for constant pinching and zooming out.

I would recommend the samsung tab, since it has a DEX mode which is like a desktop version, but it won't be fully a desktop, it still has Its limitations but it will be very helpful still.
I recently brought an iPad i hate so many things about it like u cant even use what'sapp in iPad and its feels sk difficulty just to open any PDF and its very very complicated than Android well i didnt know whata this what'sapp thing before buying iPad and i juts brought thinking that it won't hang unlike android tablets but i didnt know that it will not even support simple applications like What'sApp and S pen is far better than Apple pencil 😊
In my experience, the iPad has better drawing apps and homescreen customization. Samsung tablet has better multi-tasking (with their desktop mode) and the S pen rarely needs charging. I think they are both great, just depends on what you want to use it for.
I apologize to myself for wasting 14 minutes of time.. All UA-camrs make comparisons between iPads and Samsung tablets, and the end they choose the iPad. Enough bias with the bitten apple company.

how laggy samsung dex was, dude. I've been big fan of samsung but the dex is not something that beat iPad here. I do wish apple pencil would have a softer tip.
Hello all, I'm planning to buy a tablet in near future. I'm bit confused between IPAD 9th gen and Samsung Tab S8/S7. My main concern is the writing experience. I'm buying this table for actually note taking, long descriptive notes. And for this purpose, i'm confused between s pen and apple pencil / Baseus pencil for apple. Can anyone suggest me, which one should I go for? Apple pencil or S pen? TIA
If you are just looking for which pen is better, the S Pen is. It has way more features and feels better to write with and of course comes with the tablet instead of a separate purchase
I am a Samsung lover, from phones, laptops, fridges, tv, and microwave. I bet if there were Samsung cars, I would be driving one. So Samsung wins for me. I have no money to be purchasing apps and space...
feels quite bias this review. my two cents, never really liked apple as i see them as very anti consumer, not giving expandable storage at that price point should be a crime, then they force you into their storage cloud paid system to take money from you.
So, you call out bias, while giving the most biased opinion known to man lol. There’s a reason iPads have dominated the tablet market since like, always, because they’re simply the better overall option people are willing to dish out a little extra for. The gap is narrowing nowadays particularly with the Tab, but iPad will not stop being most consumers number 1 option anytime soon.
@@just4justincase He's correct - Apple is anti-consumer. 64gb on iPad air is nothing but a way to railroad customers into upgrades. Apple have limited RAM to 5gb per app. They deliberately limit the usability of iPad OS so it doesn't compete with Macbooks. The $100 stylus has a tiny irreplaceable battery that will run down and die permanently if left uncharged for 2 weeks. The keyboard is $300. Apple go to great lengths to make all their devices unrepairable. They will software-lock devices as 'stolen' if the previous owner does not disassociate their account, creating literal mountains of e-waste. In the tablet market, Apple currently hold a 31% share while Samsung have climbed to 21% - that's only a 5% swing away from parity. Samsung tablets are already outselling Apple in India (in part due to Apple's production issues due to lockdowns in China). While Apple throttle their hardware and software on purpose, Samsung are pushing their OLED and folding display technology further and further. Not to mention Xiaomi looming on the horizon.
I love Apple products but value for money is not what they excel at. So I go for Samsung. Plus I have a note 20. So I can move my notes between devices. And I am not paying Apple to use storage.

For example I would reach for my tab s 7 for just about everything and if I need to do photo editing and video editing then I just use my MacBook air m1 I wouldn't really think about a ipad .
MacBook and iPad Pro literally have the same specs. The point here is comparing TABLETS, yah know, the things with touch screens? MacBook isn't touchscreen, it's not a valid comparison. If someone wants to buy a tablet, they obviously want a touch screen, otherwise they'd just buy any other laptop

Peace
I really like the look, feel,
response time , and the apps in the iPad over the Samsung S8
Change your battery and should not be full in storage and it will run like new with updates
Sorry to hear that about the Air 2. I know my sister is using an old Air 2 and having a different experience; hers is working quite well for her basic purposes. So I wonder if it’s a battery issue
You have just nails it years of updating that is not useful, four years is absolutely okay
Well, It lasted 8 years. The touch problem is very interesting but still is working not perfect but not bad I suppose. And that is not a flag ship device so its normal in my view. It's 8 years for a non flagship its a deal for me. And they are very well priced as well
Same here men i got ipad from 2019 and it needs to reboot a lot of times..idk why people say apple for the long term usage lmao
For entertainment, I like using my tab, from watching to gaming.
omg i really need medeley !!! but I'm more of a Samsung user :')) ottokeeee
Of course, Office is still very limited, and Adobe costs extra for all those functions. So if you want to pay to have them in one app you can, but there are a lot of good alternatives that are better/more affordables.

You can do this with the iPad and between iMacs and MacBooks
@@oracle101-yeah I don’t understand that. Microsoft hates Apple I guess.

Error! Tab S8 aspect ratio is 16:10 and not 16:9.
S8 ultra is a good comparison
No , the s8 has everything same plus more, its a fair comparrison
I'm gonna correct you right there. No ipad is not ahead in terms of software. I have ipad pro 12.9 2020 and i envy even the Samsung tab s7 fe in terms of software. Samsung has freely resizable and floating windows capability. Ipad does not. It did however very recently launch the resize capability but it's only a few predetermined sizes. SO FRUSTRATING
i recently started using an android tablet and i absolutely love it so much. Came with a keyboard and pen aswell
which one did you buy?
@@smallwhitefox142Hey does Samsung notes let you import PDFs/docs/ppts into it and draw onto them?
@@IceBlueLugia not sure about the other two formats (haven't tested) but pdf importing works, and nowadays almost everything can be exported to be a pdf (like powerpoints and word documents) to then be able to be imported into samsung notes
This was remarkably informative and useful. thank you very much for the time and effort you put in making this video. Cheers.
I'm actually surprised about the cool Tab S8 features that I never heard of, but the whole video seemed very biased. No real side by side comparison and very little screen time for the iPad, although you seem to choose it in the end. This seems more promotional than an honest review.

I'm still confuse. I'm torn between s8 and ipad pro 2021, I want it to be my main device for school... Please enlighten me,I'm an incoming med student. Thanks for the response

Exactly, but finally all the war Android vs Apple comes to this : if you are stuck with Apple ecosystem, there is no reason to switch.
Good Notes will be coming to Andorid very soon....
Now... which one is the best?

Moreover, Samsung also has an ecosystem and is easily managed by any device while any Apple device is only compatible with their devices by default.

Tab S8 is awesome! So many features that id there whether you need or not. For Ipad just get models 3 year old devices since Apples most advance IOS still able to run on it lol

Good video, in my case I prefer the Galaxy Tab s8, I live in south-america and the price at Samsung products is more asequible for me.
I disagree with ipad being better for notetaking… You can’t organize folders on the homepage like you can with the samsung/android… That’s a make or break for me… How do you organize your notes on the ipad?
You can do it inside the app, any note taking app in IOS has a system to organize your notes, even free apps like apple notes.
Great video, Harris! Thanks for sharing! Cheers from Brazil!

To be honest you should've compared the Ipad Pro and Galaxy Tab S8+ as they are almost the same price including the pen and cellular 5g For both, also Goodnotes is now on android but not all of them
I just want something that is wonderful to write stories on and is easy on the eyes. And allows me to reference the source material. I've looked at e ink readers but there the same price and do less. In my experience, the iPad has better drawing apps and homescreen customization. Samsung tablet has better multi-tasking (with their desktop mode) and the S pen rarely needs charging. I think they are both great, just depends on what you want to use it for.
I already have the S6lite and am thinking about upgrading it to the S8 is it better though?

feels quite bias this review. my two cents, never really liked apple as i see them as very anti consumer, not giving expandable storage at that price point should be a crime, then they force you into their storage cloud paid system to take money from you.
Or you could simply buy a flash drive / external SSD …. 🙄
So helpful thank you
