I suspect that the sensor is completely covered in dirt, either that or the controller has failed. It could've been worth holding your hand higher too

I did place my hand higher off camera and even then It didn't work. I'd be surprised if its dirt blocking the sensor as the underside doesn't even appear that filthy.
