THE EXCITEMENT!!! Yes!! We are doing a massive road trip adventure again this year!!
New locations and hidden spots EVERY SINGLE DAY!! And the route... to be chosen by Patreon yet again!!
In fact this year we've been working on a series on how to find hidden spots like Tokyo Lens!! Come and help plan the adventure!
2023 is going to be an exciting year!
The road trip videos are my favorite. Excited to see more.
What was this Town called again? Geto? I couldn´t really hear it in the Video, but the (automatic?)Subtitle calls it "Ghetto", so i guess it might actually be Geto?
So excited for these adventures! Will be in Japan for the whole of April and hope to have some of my own!
@@t.kersten7695 It is the town of Gero in Gifu, Japan (in Japanese ro sounds very similar to do)
I know you probably won't notice this but man I love what you're doing.
Your adventure is just like a RPG game! The wooden onsen ticket was very cute and the private bath with the tatami mats looked like a special treat for you walking all the way up to the top!😆✨
YUKAA! Did you watch everything 3x like you promised? hahaha jk
Was truly a special treat!
and look at you! Only 200 subs away from 10k!!!
thank you for taking us on these trip so that people like me who cant travel to Japan can experience it through your videos
people like you are why I started the channel
so thank you for always being here for it!
I cannot explain why but I love aesthetics of Japanese temples and architecture in general so much.
And that kind of mountain paths are the best, more rural you go I just love how much quieter things usually get. Especially hiking further out when you suddenly stop and are just surrounded by silence is just so surreal feeling every time. Cannot wait for more videos of you showing more amazing places around the Japan, always such a nice way to cheer up the day to see one of these popping up on the feed. :3
I totally agree!
Every video with a new area to go mountain-climbing makes me wish I had done it when I was in Japan! My Google Maps is now full with so many spots to visit thanks to your videos! I cannot wait to come back to Japan and visit all the places I marked 😊
Gotta come back soon!
I like how you go to areas that most UA-camrs in Japan have never come across. Most of them go to the same trendy tourist traps, restaurants, etc. which can get tiring when you have seen it on someone else's channel. This is a nice change of pace to seeing what Japan is truly about. I'm a graphic designer/illustrator and seeing those places are quite inspiring. Makes me want to travel more since I work from home for most of my day here.
These videos make me emotional. I feel like my window of time to explore the world is closing, but having these incredible videos to live vicariously through is some serious solace!
I'm not the only one?!
I feel this strongly, it sucks the mind set of the western world is work till your so old then explore and play … but you’re old ! I want to do it while I’m young
Love these kinds of videos from Norm. As someone who's been watching videos on Japan for 8+ years UA-cam can honestly start to feel a little same-y when it comes to Japan content. But hey that's why I follow Tokyo Lens 🙌🏼
thats insanely kind!! Thank you so much for that~
THIS! Been watching JP and KR blogs since 2016 and it gets repetitive. Norm takes you to the paths less traveled and also makes you feel like you’re THERE.
Congratulations on the big sponsorship! You really fricking deserve it. You feel the love put in these videos. All the best!
These mountain views are always so stunning, love the videos!
They are!
Love all the mythology in the video, you should do a whole series on local stories like this!
That's a great idea! would love to do that~
This will be an interesting content for Norm. I will sure to watch it!
These videos always make me want to live my forest dwelling dreams! I 100% meant to be living in a Japanese forest somewhere. 😆
The Sperbs!! this is such a great place to be
still so much more to explore here too!
Japan literally must be the most beautiful place on earth, amazing.
I would be hard pressed to disagree with you!
@@TokyoLens 😁 one day I hope to visit this breathtaking country and all its wonderful people. I feel drawn to it in a spiritual way. Your videos are truly awesome and I'm so glad I found your channel. Thank you so much 🙏
I'm not a gamer. I would absolutely watch a movie interpretation of Wild Hearts. Concept looks amazing. Thank you for another fantastic vid.
that would be an awesome movie lol
Congratulations on obtaining sponsorship.
I am truly amazed at the amount of videos and the places you have visited.
It is full of fascinating things about Japan that even Japanese people don't know.
Love this! The mythology of the white crane tie-in was spot on. I absolutely love the hike.
It's been half a decade since I was in Japan, and it'll probably be another 5 years before I can go back, but Gero is now top of my list. What an absolutely gorgeous town.
Sometimes a dream of mine to just live a peaceful life in Japan resurfaces. Imagine just waking up in countryside japan, getting up to the spectacular view.
Ooh this looks like it will be good! About to go to sleep so will have to catchup on it tomorrow 😁
Who am I kidding...I'll watch it as I go to sleep😅
Hope you enjoy!
Another example of a Norm video that makes me go "This exists in real life?!" Absolutely transported me away to a secluded mountain village, even while I'm trapped with bed rest all week. Thank you, sir!
8:38 .. "It's kinda like that very first trip to Japan, you know, the very first time that you come to Japan and it ends up being like an appetizer, this thing that teases you, and you cannot wait to get back and experience more" ... Norm I absolutely know what you're talking about, I've only been to Japan once, but no other country I visited (16 in total) has had so much attraction drawing me back there ... I can't wait to get back to Japan .....I love living vicariously through your videos mate, keep them coming. TJ
You really have some of the best camera work. The angles and scenery you choose, always amazing!
I hope EA paid well for this video. They frankly don't deserve this level of quality.
That's what I was thinking, but at the same time, I highly doubt Norm knows all the inside news about game companies. He probably has no idea how bad EA is lol
The landscapes are so beautiful. Not only the nature that seems so lush and alive but also the buildings, pathways, and farmlands - simply everything. Thank you for sharing.
I have nothing witty to say. This is such a beautiful place.
thats witty enough for me!
Currently recovering from surgery so I've had plenty of time to binge all of your videos!
how are you feeling? good I hope!!
Always leave me a trail of comments so we can hang out while you are binging!!
great chance for me to get to know you a bit!
Norm you don't need to play video games! You my friend are living the real deal! Beautiful cinematography 😍
The amount of moss on stones in this video brings me great joy!🤩
I also really enjoyed the mythology mentioned, I always find local folklore absolutely fascinating! I hope we get more folklore in the future!
Damn I absolutely love the traditional Japanese aesthetic.
🥳 YT notification and away we go
wooooo!!!!
I should finally be able to visit japan this year and this is exactly the kind of thing I hope do there. Beautiful nature, a temple and tons of historical buildings? It's perfect (but I do wonder how accessible that area is without a car).
Added Gero to my list of places to visit!✨I love how small towns in Japan are very creative to come up with tourism marketing strategies, little "details" (or bulky tegata XD) give off how much they care to make the experiences they can offer as immersive ad possible 😍
I really liked the music choices for this video❤
Love seeing these mountain adventures! Really shows that there’s so much more to explore in Japan outside of the big cities. Great job as always!
I lived in Japan for 7 years and did some amount of hiking, however mostly in the mountains in western Tokyo, Chiba, and Izu. Your vlog / trips inspire me to explore further when I return to Japan.
I think I say this every time, but what a beautiful place!!! That bath looked like heaven, especially after the busy day you would've had hiking the mountains, and what a peaceful view to enjoy with it. Thanks for showing us this area. What a great way to finish off the weekend. 😊
haha you can say it as many times as you want!!
Thanks so much eh~
@@TokyoLens haha I probably will! 😄 Thank you so much for taking us on these journeys with you, Norm. Your videos are so appreciated.
I enjoyed those nature livetreams cause you don't know what you'd expect (mostly cause there's those bear warnings). It's cool how you connected the video to the game you're advertising. Japan really does have that mystical and adventurous feel to it cause they have a lot of nature and myths and legends are important enough to be incorporated in their culture and could still be seen today.
I love how you can make absolutely anything sound and look amazing. The heron story is just so cool. Always a big fan of interesting little stories like that.
So beautiful! You share some pretty amazing off the beaten track places, it appeals to my inner adventurer! Thank you Norm 🙂
Japans beauty just keeps blowing my mind when I saw the onsen town my jaw dropped to see something like that in real life has to be amazing
Man Norm's videos have this refreshing feel of Japan, he always makes it feel adventurous and exciting. Props to you Norm for releasing good videos. Cheers!
Hopefully one day I'll make an adventure myself on the mountains of Japan
Norm, in every vid you create, your musical background is readily apparent. I always love the ambience your score choices imbue into each and every journey you take with us.
I am from a small town in german and my grandparents owned a big forest, were I as a kid always played and this forest region reminds me of this.
I'm so stoked to be here for the new adventure as it comes this time! I can't wait to explore it all vicariously through you and add new locations to my Japan Trip bucket list!
Welcome aboard! its going to be a fun one!
One of my best mates worked on Wild Hearts and I'm happy seeing it popping up on your channel!
You keep saying "potato", but I loved those live streams so much, they saw me through lockdowns and I genuinely enjoyed them, because I got to feel like I was there, in some random little village in another country. It's interesting to see the same place in this different format. It actually took me a little bit to go, "OH! I remember here." Something about those stairs at about 3 minutes is just so memorable to me, it's such a great visual, and it looks so unique. I'm SO GLAD to hear that you'll be doing those again this year. I look forward to seeing them ... real soon.
Another upload from norm is always a good time. Your adventure videos are literally spitting images of my dream travel, hoping I could do some of it one day
Great video, as always! Thank you for bringing Japan to me while I work to come back!
Thanks for all the beautiful videos Norm. Living vicariously through your hikes!
Mr Norm, your excitement is contagious!! I really appreciate the adventures I've been on through your content! 🙏🖤✌️
Just imagining huge forest, maybe a small village instead of the modern city and then standing in the castle Tower on top of the mountain... What a view it would be to experience!
It's really cool to see somewhere I've actually been before. I went in the winter so it was brutally cold but an open air onsen while it's snowing is an amazing experience.
Love when you show us more traditional places. I love nature in general but Japan mountains and countryside are magical.
2:30 damn this edit trick is actually really good, made me get more immersed into the environment somehow
Was a really unique was of wrapping the sponsor into this video! I love these cities/towns that are surrounded by so much "nothing," it gives such a peaceful and mysterious vibe.
I miss Japan so much! I'm always grateful for your videos. They're like little windows for me to peek through to see whats happening over there :D
Marvelous! I’ve been waiting.
Another great video Norm and I can’t wait to tune into all the livestreams across Japan, I loved them last time, hopefully I’ll be able to tune in to all of them again this year!!! You spoil us with content I swear 😂
Norm, you always make your videos such fun and exciting to watch. Thanks for sharing the wonder and mystery of Japan with us all.
These hikes you go on are always so breathtaking. My last time going to Japan was spent in Tokyo and Kyoto/Nara with a day trip to Kawagoe and honestly the day trip to Kawagoe was perhaps my favorite part. Next time I get to Japan I plan on spending a lot more time in the country side especially Gifu Pref. and hope to see more small towns such as this and explore.
Love when game companies reach out to other channels than those that focus on gaming, as I feel these kind of channels bring out something more grounded and surprising!
Really happy about the sponsor Norm, and always great to see you out and about exploring Japan!
Another beautiful spot. Love those hiking and walking videos. Thank you for letting us tag along on those adventures.
This is the kind of adventure I have always wanted, but no idea how I'll ever achieve. These videos are incredible as always, congrats on the EA sponsorship too! 💜✌🏾✊🏾
Amazing video Norm!
Any town build like that with different elevation levels and small connecting streets and stairs is the only thing I can ask for when exploring.
People have their own way of personalizing each little street and somehow making it aesthetically pleasing that it literally feels like exploring. Every time I try to explain this to someone they find me weird but I know you Norm know what I mean.
Your videos embody everything I love about Japan. Thank you.
I'm going back to Japan this April. While I likely won't explore these places you've been hiking in, I love watching them. Excited for your road-trip series.
The adventure videos just hit different! Especially when its the more rural places like the nakasendo. Looking forward to the next one!
As always, thank you Norm for sharing your experiences!
Congrats on getting an EA sponsor, all the hard work that you put in paid off. I looking forward to more exploration videos like this as they really show me more of how Japan is than just normal vlogs in city areas.
I'm starting to get the impression that my 16-day (flight time included) excursion to Japan at the end of this year will end up being one of many.
I will have to get myself back into better shape, every video you do out somewhere like this Norm has me dying to go hiking and just exploring. 100% getting out of the cities this next time around. Cool partnership with EA on this one two very fitting. Glad you are still on it this year and ready for the next stream and to see what other adventures this year holds. Stay safe and healthy.
Can't wait for the new streaming adventure series. Last year was a blast.
so much fun!
Thank you so much for these videos :3
Don't think I'll be able to visit Japan any time soon .... but tbh that doesn't really matter because your videos are absolutely fantastic !
So chill and relaxed >w
This place is beautiful, I loved the shot at the top of the village looking down at the intricate streets and hidden alleys. The game looks awesome too, I know it must have been hard to keep this video secret! 💜
Game looks kindve fun not gonna lie. The way that the village fits snugly between two mountains is so pretty. Also its sad to see that the river is dried up. That private hot tub sauna is really cool too. Im excited for the livestreams to come back!
Wow man!!! As an architect, I was amazed by the beauty of the temple that you showed at 1:58min of the video (gaves me desire to print screen and make my week walpaper hahah)!!! Gorgeous scene, excellent photography... the approach with the background mountains... Uhhh...what was that temple roof? Pure art expression! Sure a bunch of meanings! I paused a few moments just to apreciate the intersected planes, on top of each other, lightly curved... Oh... The serenity of beauty about Japanese structures. That brought joy to my work break today. Thank you, thank you so much for introducing us to non-standard Japan. Sorry if I wroted a bit diferent view proposed by script of the video, but I feel almost an obligation to share the enthusiasm. Success always friend!
always eagerly waiting for your videos norm
What an amazing area you've visited! Such beautiful scenery and architecture 😊
Your videos are so raw that it makes me forget all the other channels.
The thing with your videos is that you're somehow able to make us feel like we are there with you.
So thank you for that norm
Also i remember you talking about filming the best roads in Japan like wayy back, would love to see that one.
Oh and how come there's sooo many paths and trails everywhere. Just so many places to explore its mind blowing.
really is~
Great video!
❤The story of the white heron! My love of herons is widely known, but, sometimes, I forget that I am not alone. This has been a lovely reminder of the connection of humans to nature and nature to humans.
It is a wonderful start to the new week! Take care!
I still remember our interactions from the streams on that adventure!! Can't wait to kick off this years series!
This looks like an amazing area to visit. Thank you for sharing the local myth/legend about the herron. I love hearing local myths/legends and always find them so interesting.
hopefully you can make it out there soon enough... hehe
Definitely going on the list of places to consider visiting when we start planning the trip
Thanks Norm for your videos. I always love to watch them as an inspiration for my trip to Japan hopefully next year. My husband is very sick at the moment and your videos help me to keep my heads up during this stressful time between doctor appointments and helping him to get better. Our goal is it to make it to Japan for our 2nd wedding anniversary next year when he's hopefully recovered. Much love from Germany!
Even the Ghetos in Japan looks amazing! 😀
Another beautiful video, you have outdone yourself this time Norm! This one is going on the bucket list. It was interesting to hear about the local legend too. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for another beautiful video 😍
Always love when Norm goes on adventure
That shot for the beginning of the adventure and the stairs were straight out of a video game and were mind blowing thank you again
Your videos are always such a treat! So excited to see where you take us this year!~ ^w^
Awesome vid!!! Thanks for showing us another place in Japan!!!
So pleased for you getting EA you deserve it you are a real explorer hopefully you get to do more of what you obviously love which makes for great viewing .
What a beautiful place, lovely to see that you got to revisit it.
Love these videos!
Thank you for these
Thanks for watching!
Man, with every video you hype me up to come back to Japan. How i miss the mountain views, and the Onsen. Reminds me of the time i wen alone to Shirakawago. That was an experience for sure ahaha.Once again, really nice Video Norm!
I gotta give you props. The mixing of the audio on your vids is superb. I use Studio Monitors as my main speakers and I've noticed that a lot of youtubers increase the bass of their voice way too much. Some youtubers have more bass on their voice than rap songs have. I really appreciate you not overdoing it and keeping the sound on a more natural level. too much bass muddies the sound and makes it unpleasant to listen to. Also the background music on this video sounds really good. really dynamic and not flat like with a lot of other creators. Keep it up you are one of the goats when it comes to English speaking youtubers focusing on Japan.
Really beautiful locations you're showing with those videos. Thanks for that :D
And reminds me that I need to get outside again. So many interesting places that can be discovered
Not only are you living my dream, but I always smile when I watch your videos. Thanks for sharing the great adventure!
You already invented the best version of Scavenger Hunt that there ever was. The views and those mountains and those trees are so epic. That view point is just ::chefs kiss::
