More great content Josh. I bought the Dewalt about 2 months ago based on your review and the fact that I already own Dewalt 20v tools and batteries. It is a great tool.
Great review and I have had the Dewalt for a couple of years and no longer use any of my other corded polishers. My whole tool inventory is Dewalt and all cordless stuff so I have the big batteries and last a long time or your arm gets sore from holding them for long periods. I wish they made a small version for 3" pads for smaller areas.
@@BySixa I'd love to have gone Milwaukee but in the UK, they're crazy expensive so would take too long to get the basic power tools needed. Ended up buying into Dewalt 18v XR range and so far I'm really impressed. My son is turning 1 this month and I've started a tradition of buying him a set of hand tools on each of his birthday. This year, I bought him a 1/4" ratchet set from Milwaukee for 140 USD - I guess he's going to be buying into Milwaukee in the future lol
These are always tough choices between these two brands. I was a big Dewalt fan but have slowly switched over to Milwaukee, both the M12 and M18 lines. I just like the feel, fit and finish of the Milwaukee tools and, call me crazy, but the batteries just seem to last longer with Milwaukee.
Great review. I wish Milwaukee made an M12 polisher. I know, small batteries means short run time, but I am generally not polishing the entire car... just hitting small scratches. A small tool for fine work would be really nice. Thanks for another great video!
I think m18 has a patent on 18v tools and everybody has to pay them if they want to use the 18v badging. That’s why they say 20v when really they are both the same.
It's not marketing if you voltage tester on these batteries you'll see both brands will be 20.6 v I have some that are over 21v and under load depending on the tool it can be as low as 15v to 20v how come no one says anything about the 12v tools under load they're supposed to be 10.8v but no one says that's marketing it's amazing how dumb people are
@@blackjackfabrication4043 That's not why. DeWalt markets the 20V Max line as 20V to avoid confusion with the older 18V line that used the old pistol style batteries. I just bought the Milwaukee 15 mm and i like it alot. I live in Hawaii so Home Depot never had the full kit so i had to buy the polisher and battery/charger separate so it actually cost more.
@@garrett6743 i just got the 5ah battery with the charger. I ordered another 5ah battery online. You need at least 2 batteries to do a 2 step correction on a car.
Since I am a Milwaukee fan and already have batteries and chargers this was a no brainer. On a XC 5.0 amp battery you can definitely polish a whole SUV with some juice left over..
Great review video sir! I am currently looking into the Milwaukee as im typing. Are there any recommendations on buffing pads that would be suitable for it? Thanks again and great job!!
I was wondering if you could do a 6 month review on the Milwaukee? Also do you have any idea what the weight difference is with batteries installed. Also, one cordless polisher that never made sense to me is that Ryobi. They went and offset the handle, but didn't turn the battery sideways. Go Figure? Thanks Josh!
You can get silicone sleeves for dewalt batteries. I have batteries for both and trying to decide. I am leaning to milwaukee. I do have the Flex cordless C Beast, but want a cordless free spin
Having grabbed the new Rupes, if I don't have any milwaukee or Dewaly batteries I'm buying the Rupes over the kits from these two companies. It's only a couple hundred more. That said the current milwaukee free battery promotion makes it a really difficult choice. (I bought the milwaukee but would upgrade in a heartbeat)
Hey Josh, great video. I saw another video about these two machines made about the same time as yours and the reviewer said that the Milwaukee was noticeably quieter. He ran the one after the other at the same speeds and it was apparent the Dewalt was louder. He also mentioned that after using both one after the other on a hood, the Milwaukee had less vibration in the hand compared to the Dewalt. Do you agree with these assessments? What was your noise and vibration comparison findings?
At the end of the day.... both will put a similar finish on a vehicle. You may need to change out and recharge the battery.... if you are not using it commercially, that should not be a big issue. Put the discharged battery on charge. Stop for a 10 minute break.
what about the SPTA cordless you showed 1 year ago? Still looks great after use or already gone? is there such a big gap in quality to justify the overprice of Dewalt and Milwaukee cordless?
I clean my own cars and I am getting ready to buy a polisher. Do you recommend a corded or battery operated polisher? I do have Milwaukee batteries and Dewalt. Thanks
They both can.. i run my milwaukee with the biggest 12ah battery and it can finish doing 2 step on my golf r and still have one bar left.. dewalt also has a big 9ah and 15ah battery.
I liked my dewalt, noisy though and would take two batteries to do light correction. Is the milwaukie any less noisy? I'm using a shinemate atm, have two and love them. Need a 5" though.
I started my detailing business back in march. I have a torx beginner polisher and I want to step up to a Rupes or millwaukee DAwhat do you think is better.

I'm a mobile detailer so I'm thinking about going to the convenience of no cords. I'll sell you a Rupes LK900 Mille I've only used for about 15 corrections 😁
@jesseplummer2865 I could do $350 shipped anywhere in the US. Has a new 5in backing plate with only 1 use on it too. Absolutely love the forced rotation but I'm not full time with detailing anymore so I want cordless, and to pickup several other Milwaukee power tools.
Obviously you want to be safe and keep cords out of the way when you’re polishing- but sometimes shit happens and you f*** up. I was trying to cram more work than I had hours; I snagged my cord and it caught me directly across the shaft… needless to say, there was blood and I straight up thought I amputated my d. Both are 5cell li-ion battery, the difference between a 18v and a 20v system is the marketing department.
They all max at 21v on full charge.. 4.2v X 5cell = 21v..
