No trip video this week sorry guys, but this is a gear video I've been meaning to make for a long time and figured with my limited time these days I could easily take a few hours to give you guys some great gift ideas for the outdoorsy person in your life! Cheers!
So many awesome things!!! Looovvve those wool/canvas blankets 🙌🏼🙌🏼 also thanks for showcasing my leather stuff in there, it’s nice to see it being used the way it should! ;)
Thank you for your effort, I started watching your other channel - Timber Mates and it inspired my boyfriend and I to build our own house in a couple of years, instead of buying one. You're amazing and we love your videos!
like they say your only sorry once when you buy quality stuff!! thanks for sharing with us!! i like the handcrafted stuff even more so as i get older!!!
With the Yeti thing. I value your honesty over any "brand" name. I don't care if people don't like the brand if you think what you paid for it is worth it then that's what I value most as a viewer. If you like what you paid for I highly recommend you ALWAYS give us those thoughts. If it's worth the money, no matter what you paid, no matter what brand it is, people share it with us. I value that more than anything. Thank you.
I did get in line for thee Bear Saw,…. 760”s something. I learn to be patient by meditating. Hoarding, that’s what i do also, yeeees, a lot of usage for all the gears. Thank you ma’am, yes it’s funny being in line 😂. You sold other items throughout your video, thank you again “ ✨ “.
If I ever needed to have someone outfit me, I would trust your judgement on gear. We seem to have the same taste on this topic. I already have some of the same items as you. Guess I'll have to make my own saw. I really could use a couple of those logs behind you though, as I don't know if I have enough firewood.
I'm addicted to good gear, Buy once - Cry once. Went out today with some new fjallraven vida pro pants, thats good stuff. (I'm gonna get me one of those mats for kneeling down)
Thanks Alexis 😘 This video gave me some ideas of what I need to seek out a beautiful woman who is lost in the woods and needs help from someone like me.
Great products, I'm thinking the headlamp would be at the top of the list for anyone, most important when the lights go out. I'm going to get the knife for myself for Christmas.🌹🎄🥂🌄
So I just found your channel yesterday and I enjoy it a lot. I'm having a hard time finding good channel now because they are have the same cliché. Especially in the overlanding community. Keep the bushcraft going. I'm loving it. Ñ
Thank you Alexis, excellent review on the camping items you use to enjoy the great outdoor’s! Be safe, stay healthy, & God Bless everyone. Happy Holiday’s.
Love this video! About to watch it again from the beginning. Working on a gift for my nephew, hes 9 and is obsessed with bushcrafting, its so freaking awesome! Definitely want several of these items for myself. Anyway thanks for all your videos, it always makes me feel cozy and dream of my next trip! And gives me willpower to go out alone as a female!!
That is so awesome your nephew is a little bushcrafter!! Thanks so much for the kind comment, so stoked to hear you're enjoying my videos and you get something positive out of them :)
I know of only one other lady who could and love it. Giving an honest opinion on a product. That's my wife of 43 yrs. I and you don't know me in any way. Don't like or trust many people in the civilian world. But dang you remind me of my wife 40 yrs ago. She's the finest person I've ever known. I know you won't see this. I saw you had ok you freaked me out here. It was about the crosscut saw. Kudos on the great job here.
Always love gear talk. Some beautiful pieces of gear in there. That wool blanket is crazy thick looking. Must have had to sheer a few sheep to make that beautiful blanket 🐑. Nice video and some great gift ideas 🎁.
i like a small hatchet with a solid steal handle so it cant break in an emergency , even if its small and light it can still be a life savor when the bigger ones with wooden handles break unexpectedly
Just stumbled on this channel - I follow some bushcraft guys but this is the first girl. The amount of detail you give is great, guys are bad at explaining some things haha. I love the perspective from here
Hi Alexis, Love watching your channel. Don't apologize for showing products like YETI! It would be nice if the maker of this great cooler/dry storage box was a couple living off grid in a sustainable cabin made of kelp. Hey, it's a great product offered by a small corporation which employs over 700 people. I'm guessing that close to 99% of your viewers visit Walmart on a regular basis, although they would never admit it! Keep doing what you do & calling it like you see it...that makes for a happier life.
Awesome gear video! I’m going to save this video to review as I buy gear this coming year. I value your experience and opinion. The bottom line is I TRUST you Careena! Thanks for all you do! 🏕️ 😃
Thank you so much for all your efforts in tracking down the best equipment available! After watching a previous video that had the Bushcraft Spain Groundcloth and Oilskin and Wool Napsack, I bought both on Black Friday and received them last week! Amazing gear and now I am looking at getting a tarp or tent from them soon, as well as one of their Merino Wool blankets( I believe those will be Heirloom items too). Thanks again for all your help in getting me the right gear the 1st time! Saves so much money this way! If you need a video Project idea: Go and tour the factory or shops of these awesome manufacturers like Bushcraft Spain and Saku! That would be an Epic European Bushcraft Tour! Probably plenty of places to camp there as well!
If I ever needed someone to set me up with hear, I'd feel confident in your choices. You seem to have the same taste as I do. Really what I could use though are maybe some of those logs behind you. Don't forget if I have enough firewood
I love Yeti, I have a 65l cooler and too many of their tumblers, but the Loadout Gobox alludes me. I actually really want one and have no doubt that their quality is amazing, but I get a little dizzy at the price. Thank you for this video!
Love these videos! Bio light was nothing I would have bought till you talked about them. Got one myself, won’t go to any other head light! Can’t wait for your next adventure!
Highly informative video, thank you! A lot of the items you have I would not use simply because of their weight but they are high quality none the less. Quality lasts and I understand their purpose however having thru hiked the Appalachian Trail twice I can't pull myself away from the weight of items, but I'm getting there! Thank you for the fire steel info. I had asked about that in a previous video. The one you use is the only one that I've seen with a large handle.
#1: I used a simple ferrorod without a handle and if I want one, I make my own. Lee Valley in canada has an amazing one for $9.99cad #2: You may be surprised by this, but titanium is not always the lightest. I personally don't like the sporks and prefer the normal stuff. Snow Peak has a titanium spoon but it's crap since the handle is way too thin. My preference goes to Sea To Summit. It's made of Haluit (spacecraft aluminum) and I only use the spoon and fork. I use my Bushcraft knife instead of the one coming with the kit. #3: Great headlamp. However, I have yet to find a tree with an USB plug. So, unless you plan to go out for a very short amount of time, avoid the USB-only headlamps. My preference goes to the Petzel 350 lumenssince I cuse either AAA batteries or a USB-pack. Best of both worlds and never out of light! #4 Nice whetstones! But I recently discovered the SHARPAL 1200 grit diamond pocket stone. It's credit-card size and it has a nice feature allowing you to hold it from under without the risk to cut your fingers. I don't remember how much I've paid for but it's under $20 at Lee Valley. #5 Those gloves and mits seems awesome! #6 too bulky, too heavy. Why have that when you can use your headlamp? Just suspend it or put it on a table facing upward. #7 KHID's pots are very good as well. However, my go to pot is a vintage aliminum pot bought brand new at a thrift store for... $2.50cad. It's even lighter than a titanium pot. Yes, it shows wear and it's not perfectly rounded anymore. But it adds to its charm and I saved tons of money over the weight. $2.50 and still going on after several years of uses. You can't go wrong with that! #8 BUG SHIRT... Read this... you NEED one! #9 Never used those. I get mine from the army surplus store $5 max. #10 Never used one but I may just get one depending on the cost. #11 Bucksaw: It's great, but as she said, it takes months and months to get one. My go to is the classic Boreal 21 from Agawa Canyon. #12 That Leatherman is good, but the best of the best multitool is made by Swiss Army. #13 Aqua quest is awesome.Get one! #14 Huskvarna is the axe to go and you'll save tons of money. #15 nice! #16 Nice Puko knife, but I wouldn't rely on it too much since it's not full tang. #17 That backpack is very good looking, but way too pricy for what it is. No way I'm going to pay $400 for this, even if handmade. I know well that industry and it's too pricy trust me. #18 You can often get 100% wool blankets from a thrift store. One thing here, make sure to read the label because most blankets out there, even the new ones are NOT 100% wool... #19 YETI cases are not that good. In fact, they are crap compared to the real high end ones. Get a NANUCK from Plasticase. It's made in Canada and not China, and simply the best you can get on the market. #20 seems interesting, however, at $291usd...Try to find someone local to make one for you. One VERY important thing here... You absolutely need to wash the wool BEFORE sewing it to the canvas otherwise it'll be real crap trust me. Also, you need to know that the wool they use is 80% wool and 20% cashmere. Cashmere is nice but on the very long term??? And that tarp is only 6'x6' so too small for many.
12:40 Your paying for the hours that it took to make this very nice knapsack that will last you a long time. 13:09 Super cozy blanket and super super thick. 15:52 I enjoyed it, thumbs up too. 👍👍
Hi Alexis what an awesome video for gift idea's, im located in eastern Ontario and would love that puuko knife, what was the price and was it easy for shipping to Canada?
Hi Alexis, Finally you're introduced most of your gears. I find that's brilliant. Most of your gears are high end and customs well made. I think next time, it would be better you ask the coupon code and the price for each item for your subscribed and others (in-case, they forget to find those link, you were listed above). It might not necessary but it's definitely better for those whose like your videos. It's okay to talk about something you think it might not include, such as your Yeti GoBox because, as today people always interesting things you're carry every time out there. I also find most of your gears are leathers. In my mind, sometimes I wanna call you "Leather (girl) woman".
This was great, a gear video that's not trying to sell you! Q- you've used both aquaquest safari and the oil skin tarp from bushcraft Spain could you give us a comparison?
There's a good reason why traditional bushcraft gear is so popular today. It's because People's lives were depending on that gear they developed in yesteryear.
A super cheap super small option is a Brunton monocular that costs under $30. Nikon's monoculars are also great, good optics but bigger and more expensive. Nikon's TrailBlazer binocs are perfect for lightweight carrying like hiking or hunting and still affordable.
I recently bought a 26-inch Husqvarna axe based on your previous recommendations. I'm considering sending it back. The head is poorly fitted with large gaps on the lower side of the head. It will be loose in no time. I have done a bit of investigating on the quality of these (unfortunately after I bought) and found that this is not an uncommon thing. If you buy one plan on rehanging it. Can't say anything bad about Bushcraft Spain (except the price).
Thats unfortunate you had that experience with it, I have been using mine for going on 5 or so years now and I haven't had a single problem with it. I do not baby it either. The head is still very solid and the steel has held up amazingly well. I have to say I doubt the experience you had is the norm, but I've had unfortunate things like that happen with other good quality items and I'm sure it happens to everyone here and there.
While the video was wonderful and thank you. But I'm looking at those wood-chips in the back. That is going to make for some good organic material to add to your soil over the years. I bet those wood-chips smell so darn good.
I know how you feel about your gear , my wife calls my pack my "MISTRESS" but , we take such a long time building our packs , it does become a love affaire I guess . Gear , weight , fun , once you get it right you're free to be wild . I suppose I'll be a gear junkie for life .
i"ve done "whats in my pack" posts for what I mountain bike with...thirty years ago the joke on group rides was if I was there, everyone else could ride lighter by leaving their tools in their car or at home as I carried enough to disassemble and reassemble practically any bike, and I never bailed on a ride (though I was almost always at the back). I still carry way to much but I can also survive solo overnight if needed.
No trip video this week sorry guys, but this is a gear video I've been meaning to make for a long time and figured with my limited time these days I could easily take a few hours to give you guys some great gift ideas for the outdoorsy person in your life! Cheers!

Alexis, thank you for the vblog, your milestones in gear reviews is commendable, appreciate you and the true epitome to the bushcraft legacy 🌹
Thanks Alexis 😘 This video gave me some ideas of what I need to seek out a beautiful woman who is lost in the woods and needs help from someone like me.

I really like your home building videos too
Best regards
Frits
Hi Alexis, good ideas for christmas. Thanks for this video.LG Michael from Niedersachsen.
Great gift ideas! Hopefully the wait for that axe mask isn't crazy. Thanks for another inspiring video.
Great video, always nice to see reviews of the less mainstream gear that isn't sent out to all the outdoor channels for mass review.
i like a small hatchet with a solid steal handle so it cant break in an emergency , even if its small and light it can still be a life savor when the bigger ones with wooden handles break unexpectedly
Very nice kit thanks
Love the videos keep'em coming. Stay safe and be well. 👊😎🤙🍻
My new favorite channel
That YETI box is really great. Great quality. yes, too expensive. If heirloom quality plastic exists, it is in the form of that YETI box.
Hahaha YES! You said exactly what I was badly trying to explain :P
From Orangeville,On. Love the videos Alexis, keep up the great work. Merry Christmas to you, Brandon and family!
Man, I have some catching up to do! 😂❤ Good to see ya girl
Great gear Corina! Thanks!
@Alexis_Outdoors264 I don't think so!!!!
Gracias por tus vídeos alexis, y por mostrarnos tantos hermosos paisajes.
Hope you guys are doing well. Stay safe and warm.
Probably plenty of places to camp there as well!
great selections all around
If I ever needed someone to set me up with hear, I'd feel confident in your choices. You seem to have the same taste as I do. Really what I could use though are maybe some of those logs behind you. Don't forget if I have enough firewood
Good video as always please please stay safe out there as always ❤❤❤
Hey Coreena, I bought that 26” axe last year on your recommendation and it’s awesome! I absolutely love it. Cheers
Great video, and love your moody editing style in your episodes!
Thank you Alexis! ❤️ I needed it! 🔥
Thanks there’s a lot of stuff am adding to my list🎉
Solid gear. Merry Christmas
Good Gift Ideas . Thanks
I love Yeti, I have a 65l cooler and too many of their tumblers, but the Loadout Gobox alludes me. I actually really want one and have no doubt that their quality is amazing, but I get a little dizzy at the price. Thank you for this video!
Интересное снаряжение! Особенно, понравились пила и нож.
Love these videos! Bio light was nothing I would have bought till you talked about them. Got one myself, won’t go to any other head light! Can’t wait for your next adventure!
Oh that's awesome!! Glad to hear it, thanks so much as always for watching Dalton!
The Biolite headlamp is super comfortable too, I’ve actually forgotten I was wearing it!
Outstanding
As always Alex very informative. Thanks for doing this video!
well done. thanks much
Great products
#1: I used a simple ferrorod without a handle and if I want one, I make my own. Lee Valley in canada has an amazing one for $9.99cad

15:52 I enjoyed it, thumbs up too. 👍👍
Informative and beneficial video
Hi Alexis what an awesome video for gift idea's, im located in eastern Ontario and would love that puuko knife, what was the price and was it easy for shipping to Canada?
Fun stuff
Can I ask about the brand of the Jacket ? Can you offer more advice on outerwear ?
wow nice
Also can you include the pants you wear those things are very cool!
They are Fjallraven Ken Trousers, I talk about them more on my last video "10 Gear Items I get asked about Most" :)
@@careenaalexis perfect I will go check that video out! Thanks again for responding love the videos and I wish you guys well on the house!
It's snowing out west right now, maybe its headed your way!
Hi Alexis, Finally you're introduced most of your gears. I find that's brilliant. Most of your gears are high end and customs well made. wow! number 1
How often do you have to treat the gloves?
Is that the Small or Large wool mat? I noticed they have 2 sizes.
Small :)
Very nice...
Überleben 🤓😎😅 - Greetings from Germany!
Do you carry binocs? Any recommendations there?
A super cheap super small option is a Brunton monocular that costs under $30. Nikon's monoculars are also great, good optics but bigger and more expensive. Nikon's TrailBlazer binocs are perfect for lightweight carrying like hiking or hunting and still affordable.

Haha we get loads upon loads of them because of our tree business so we have all kinds of great uses for them yes :)
Is the blanket soft or harsh and itchy ?
In my opinion it's much softer compared to many wool garments and blankets I've had in the past.
nice gear
Dope…
