Magellan does not make the maps, they are done by an outside agency. ONE: Lifetime means 3 years, look at the Magellan site. TWO: Lifetime maps means IF the outside company makes one for THAT specific model. My 9200-LM is 6 years old and NEVER had a map update since the company never offered any, NICE. My POI are 6 years old, the Walmart that closed 4 years ago still shows up ! Google maps or WAZE.

I bought the 6230LM over other units, because of the "Lifetime" Maps. Tried the update my GPS today only to find that Magellan screwed me over. "LIfetime" is normally defined as the life of the devise, not a number of years that they pulled out of their butts. I am pretty pissed off. Will never buy another Magellan product because of the false advertising I fell for.
