Nice! It's Fender they are magical! I just picked up an American pro sss, and it is now my favorite guitar in my collection. I started out with schecter c1 classic and also have a c1 platinum with EMG 81/85. The Fender is way easier to play, and it sounds better. I can crank the amp with the Fender, and there is no annoying hum or other unwanted noise in the pickups at all. American made Fender Strats awesome!
They are 2 different animals so EQ, drive and effects should be adjusted accordingly based on genre , in the end you can make either come close to what you need.
I just got a Fender Custom Shop Strat GT11. I wanted go full Mick Mars with the guitar. Found out the body was only routed for SSS. Then I did some experimenting and found the answer to using an SSS for metal. The answer is... A cranked JCM900 pushed by a Vemuram JanRay and boosted by a Vemuram Budi G. Pure metal magic with single coils. Layered with my Les Paul Custom into a Friedman BE DLX pushed by a Klon KTR and you get a super thick and full track that will make any metal head cream his pants.
I love replays I stop in there all the time when I go to Florida and spend a good couple hrs. In there haven't been out there in a couple years but it's an awesome guitar shop really can't say enough about this place people are great who work there hope to be going back this year. Get out of Michigan for a couple wks lol
When it comes to high gain sound, pickups don't matter much. You can even use an EQ with a boost function to make one pickup sound like another. Tonewood? Seriously? That's the realm of acoustic guitars, not solid body electric. A blind A/B recording can dispel that in an instant.
We weren't relying on the other videos made by UA-camrs on these topics (I can tell you which videos you got this from, and to some extent, it makes sense but...). Though there's not a tremendous night/day difference, there are subtle differences that can be heard and felt. And it's all of those little nuances that can add up and inspire your sound.

Informative video and great playing. I'm more of a 70's and 80's cover player Rock and Country. My son on the other hand is MeTaL. I have an APll in Natural Pine with Rosewood SSS. I see what you mean about the during soloing part. Thanks for video
Nice playing as always Jason. The subtle differences and UA-cam compression were not really enough for my ears to really notice. I'd go with the humbucker based on looks as I think that would maybe entice/inspire me just a smidge more 🤘🤘 A tortoise shell pick guard on the right guitar looks awesome and I normally like roasted maple necks, but again depends on the guitar. Overall though, I'd still happily play either.

I bet you could get alot closer to the humbucker sound with the Strats middle single coil pickup other than the single coil bridge pickup as the bridge single is too thin sounding to match the humbucker but a middle pickup has some beef behind its sound to match the humbucker just dial in a tad more gain on the amp for the middle pickup, anyway thank you for your videos
if you like the metallic and twangy attack of the note strat could be good as is. if not i solved the problem with the tone pot attached to bridge pickup and for very high gain a noise reductor.
You know to my ears, both guitars sound pretty much the same. I don’t know why but even with a humbucker in the bridge Fender Strats still sound like Strats. Charvels and guitars like that with ‘buckers actually sound different to me. I’ve decided that when I play an actual Strat I prefer the traditional three single coils.

I barely heard a difference between the 2 for some reason while when I coil split the brige pickup on my guitars I can hear a clear difference, so idk what happened there

Also, when there is a somewhat substantial amount of gain, the differences between pickup types is even harder to hear. The first Zeppelin album was recorded with a dual single coil Telecaster. Most people think it was a Les Paul. We listen and buy with our eyes all to often.
You can’t get sound from any guitar material on a solid body guitar with magnetic pickups. Google some fundamental acoustics and physics you will see how these conceptions make no sense.

Vibration quality ( so sustain of electricity generation ) is imposrtant. But as long as guitar can handle strings ( force ) and will not breake... you can use even cardboard ( if you have such a strong carboard ).

Strats are versatile good for playing any genre although I usually use my BCRich for playing metal.
Love the BC Rich guitars…had a cool looking Warlock back in the 90s
If you have the bridge wired to a tone pot, rolling it off a fraction really makes a strat single coil bridge thicken up.

I really don't think it matters. In my studio and for stage, I use the MXR Smartgate, but most any gate will do the trick

Yeah there’s not a tremendous difference. Just some slight variations and I think you feel those in the playing more than hear them
