I disagree with pffs value on Graham Merrz. I think this being his second year he will be more comfortable running the offense and with any luck the oline will be improved enough to give him time to go down field and expand the passing game

PFF is a meaningless stat. It’s pure garbage! You can’t quantify football by the silly stats from PFF. Baseball is a sport where stats are meaningful and can give you insight. PFF is not something that I ever pay attention to because it’s garbage. I watch games, and that’s how you can judge a team. For instance, how does PFF inform you about how good a team is when they trot two players out with the same number on the field at the same time?

You can say PFF is meaningless, pure garbage, whatever you want. Fact remains that NFL teams HEAVILY use their data.
I’ll take the word of folks who get paid millions to do it

You’re not smart enough to understand that we’re not talking about the NFL. We’re talking about college football. Let me give you an example that proves my point. Anthony Richardson was the 4th overall pick in the NFL. He was a mediocre college quarterback. Maybe that’s because “Sun Belt” Billy is a bad coach, but that doesn’t take way the fact that Richardson was not a good college QB. Maybe PFF is useful for the NFL, hence it’s name, but it’s a pure garbage stat.

@@MichaelWinter-zv8yk College programs, including Florida, Georgia, FSU, Alabama, Michigan, etc, all use it too. Never in your life say someone isn’t smart enough to understand something when you’re sitting there turning down advanced analytics and additional data points. It’s not the be all, end all and nobody is saying to use it as such but you’re actively avoiding using context and that automatically invalidates your opinion.
Congratulations on choosing to be ignorant!

Brandon sounds like he’s delusional about FSU. Yes, they lost ten draft picks, but that doesn’t mean they’re not still loaded. Norvell, who UF would die to have, is not the current National Bear Bryant and Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year because he doesn’t know how to build a team. Guess what? Norvell says this season’s team is the fastest and strongest team he’s had at FSU. Yeah, they lost Jared Verse and Braden Fiske, but FSU seems to think that Marvin Jones Jr and Darrell Jackson will be fine, and they think Patrick Payton will be even better. FSU will still have an elite pass rush. The secondary will still be elite. LB is a question mark, but even there, they have to only come up with one guy since DJ Lundy is proven playmaker. On offense, FSU is extremely loaded at RB. Tre Benson, unlike Montreal Johnson, left early for the NFL, but the cupboard’s far from bare. The offensive line will be better. It’s not a stretch to say that replacing the threat of Coleman and Wilson at WR is the biggest question mark, but you’re pretty naive if you don’t think Norvell will find playmakers there. As far as QB, Norvell will get DJU to play better than he has in his entire career. If you pay attention, you’ll see that the five star QB that replaced him at Clemson hasn’t been a good QB at Clemson as well. It might be the coaching at Clemson?
Finally, it doesn’t matter if you use the transfer portal a lot or rely on high scholars. The goal is to win games! A seasoned player may not be as talented, but he could be a lot better football player. Whatever methods you use, the bottom line is what counts…that’s having more points than your opponent at the end of the game.

How did having more points at the end of the game work out for ya against Georgia

Go HawkTuah on the seminoles somewhere else bro. You wrote this whole essay for what? Brandon didn't say they weren't good he said they will likely be very good this year but that those new players are unproven. Just because you're the fastest and strongest it doesn't mean you're the best. Look at Tom Brady.

The game against Georgia was an outlier. After having the Playoff berth they earned stolen from them, FSU had no interest in the game with Georgia. Almost all of FSU’s starters decided not to play. Ir would have been a different story if FSU had been in the Playoff. Jared Verse made clear that whoever FSU played in the Playoff was going to be in for a shock. FSU had an elite defense, and that doesn’t mean they would have won, but it does mean they’d be competitive with whoever they faced. Also, it’s only a loser that talks about another team beating FSU. Didn’t UF lose to FSU? Also, amplifying what Verse said, the only reason UF crossed the goal line against FSU was because of a gift from an incompetent referee who called a textbook sack a penalty for unnecessary roughness.
