Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you too
Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas all numberphile team ❤
Merry Christmas
This is a certified conic loaf moment.
loaf
Levant get your coat too
@Ben Lurie its in the summer, dude
This is a certified hood classic
*Cone bread, you mouth-breathing abomination; enemy of linguistic integrity.
The joy Cliff has is always contagious and cannot be matched or replicated. He is a universal treasure
You meant to say infectious, NOT contagious.
@@bazsnell3178 you can actually use either word in this context.
When he said "hee hee!" I felt that
He’s the classic loony old mathematician and I love it
He is, aye, conic
I love Cliff's excitement about mathematics. We can literally see what math means to him in these videos. He always gets jumpy when he describes shapes.
"Next week class we will be in the teaching kitchens... youll see why!"
@Mr Slinky. And that's exactly the way he would say it. Can almost hear him now
false.
Completely accurate description of conic sections with all terminology correct - followed by mid-identifying a single piece of bread with jam on it as a "sandwich".
??
@@Triantalex the OP is a structure purist about sandwiches.
cliff: can you taste the conicness of that bread?
brady’s mind: gosh this plum jam is amazing
🤣🤣🤣
he could have made a plum line on that hyperbola
His reaction was hyperbolic
All that effort just so he could use hyperbole in a math context. Time well spent!
Exactly what I thought xD He looks overwhelmed with the jam xD
I absolutely love this guy, he has that mad scientist neighbour attitude, he just makes learning feel like doing an experiment, it’s super fun
He does doesn't he! I love it - he reminds me a bit of Dr. Sturgis!
Yea, he could have been a character on Mr Rogers' Neighborhood.
He is what the world needed the most.
Read his book. The cuckoo's egg. It's great. Couldn't put it down
If he were my neighbor, he looks like he would tell me to meet him in the parking lot of the twin pine mall to test his DeLorean time-machine.
Numberphile needs to be recognized for finding so many extremely passionate and exciting mathematicians to explain things. Thankful for the work that y'all do
I didn't know anyone could be as cool as Cliff making klein bottles, but Pat making conic bread might just take the cake
no no no just replace the bread dough with angel (angle) food cake batter. Ducks fast to run.
I assume the cake in question is also conic?
I just watched a man eat a slice of bread.
And I loved it.
Hyperbollically speaking. 😄
conic sections i see ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
You've come a full circle with that one.
An "hyperbolic slice of bread", that's a big difference
@@YourLocalCafe indian maths textbook bruh moment
Mmm yes conic sections
Cliff and Pat really bring fun energy. Time to break out the bread maker.
You can always count on Cliff for some conic relief.
@@charstringetje 10/10.

Cliff really is just the sweetest crazy man alive. When I got one of his Klein Bottles as a gift for my best friend's wedding about 3 years ago, he did not only send it all the way to Germany, but even wrote "handle with care" and "fragile" on it - in perfect German too, in beautiful script, so our post can read it! The e-mail he sent with the confirmation of having posted it had so many pictures of the exact bottle with him around his gorgeous house and garden and personal greetings to my friends, and the "paperwork" it came with was a delight to top it all off. All around so playful and genuine. I have never had this much joy buying something, and will never forget the whole experience. I have kept the box to myself, and it's NOT going into the bin anytime soon :) Thanks again!!
false.
@@Triantalex Huh?
His laughter is infectious. he exudes so much joy in doing mathematics.
"it tastes like the orbit of a comet that's coming in from an infinite distance" never truer words have been spoken
how does he know the taste of a comet's orbit? ;-)
It's a straight line
@@tobyk.4911 do you not know the taste of a comet's orbit? :P
@@1996Pinocchio Ah yes, GR time!
No, that is quite possibly the most false sentence that has ever been spoken
That marriage seems perfect! What an inspiration to see that mutual respect and that they still have fun in geeky ways together!
??
I absolutely love Cliff’s videos. Today, he provides some conic relief.
Ba dum tshh
Are we sure this man isn’t a keebler elf of some kind in disguise?!
He’s just too damn jolly and loveably enthusiastic to be human.
And he seems to like baking! A must for Keebler elves.
he has a license for mathematical marijuana
He's an actual elf
Do you really want me to answer this?
When he started laughing, I immediately thought about Engywook, the inventor gnome in the neverending story! 🤣😂
I love videos with Cliff. He's just so enthusiastic about everything, and always a delight to see him in videos.
I totally agree. He's a superstar in my book
You can tell he loafs his conics.
He's the kind of guy who loves his job. I wanna be that kind of guy when I've got a job.
You could say... His hyperbole is iconic.
hes so wholesome , he sounds and looks like an excited wizard showing us magic
I'd never miss a Cliff Stoll video. His excitement is absolutely contagious
This man has charisma on max lvl, i cant even imagine how it would be to be one of his students.
Cliff is the kind of guy everyone wonders when he is going to invent a time machine
Well he's perfected the Doc Brown look already so it could be any day now :)
He already did, he's from the future.
His time machine is his body. It brought and is holding him here for some while^-^
"When" is possibly the least useful question to wonder in this scenario!
false.
"without slicing my hand" pretty much describes my anxiety watching someone cut odd ends of an odd loaf with a chefs knife.
Every move he made my brain was screaming "Where's your bread knife?!?!!!!"
Would have had better conic sections, too.
??
Cliff giggling over bread is definitely a Christmas treat I can enjoy.
I’m not sure what we’d do in a world without Cliff. The way him and Pat seem to energize what they talk about is simply lovely.
His laugh make me smile everytime. What a cute grandpa!!
@Ben Lurie cute gramp
@Ben Lurie yes
You cannot go wrong with Cliff Stoll, his pleasure at making an ellipse is wonderful 😁
false.
I love Mr Stoll's house, it's lived in, it has character and looks very comfortable. Thank you all for making this and especially Mrs. Stoll putting in the effort and ingenuity in making the conic bread.
watching this man get all giddy while cutting elliptical slices of bread has filled me with more joy than any other thing i’ve watched in recent memory. cliff is a treasure.
I have never watched anyone cut slices of bread so happily as I have just now... and I enjoyed every minute of it! Merry Christmas everyone!
??
Cliff Stoll has the energy of a leprechaun who has made it to their pot of gold.
No, try a little kid hype up with sugar.
There's no better videos on this channel than those with Cliff, that man makes everyone so happy, if everyone was like Cliff the world would be a paradise.
Wish I lived next door to Uncle Cliff, he's the happiest person i've seen.
If I said this was the greatest Numberphile video ever, would you think I'm being hyperbolic?
Don't cone about it
Cliff certainly is, as his eccentricity is far, far greater than one. In the midst delightful way.
It's certainly an iconic one
This man's enthousiasm truly is something else. Thank you Cliff Stoll, and merry Christmas to you.
I love conic sections, the way they are nicely defined geometricaly and also algebraicaly, how they have a ton of amazing properties, how they come up everywhere and obviously how Cliff gets excited about them!
I can vouch for the quality of Cliff's homemade jam.
You and Cliff must have some interesting conversations!
Cliff Stoll is a treasure. What a lovely video. I love his enthusiasm for geometry.
That's what proper home made bread is - what ever the shape.
I’ve been giggling all video long. Mr. Cliff, you never fail to make my day with your happy nerdiness. ♥
@Ben Lurie where is he bullying anybody?
@Ben Lurie Nothing but praise for one of my favourite professors on the internet here.
@Ben Lurie you blind?
??
I love this guy! The energy he radiates is absolutely infectious. It makes me love learning about what would normally seem unexciting
They both seem so excited, it’s like they never grew out of young love and it’s so sweet
Serious relationship goals right there! ("Sconic Sections!")
This is a great Christmas video, 3:40 is basically like a kid seeing all the presents from Santa. 😊
The 'cone' actually reminds me of the shape of the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo space capsules. With its flattened point and curved off base, it's almost perfect.
That's exactly what I was thinking
And crispier where it has faced the heat.
??
Cliff is so great. Sent me a nice hand written note with my klein bottles a few years back.
On Christmas Eve, everyone should each conic bread and drink wine from klein bottles.
I love how excited Cliff is about slicing the bread in fun ways.
Hurra,
Ever since I've watched his ted talk and tried to build my own synth I m baffled by this wonderful human being.
Thanks for this Christmas video
@Ben Lurie that's.... Straight forward. 😅
@Ben Lurie They are a multitude
@Ben Lurie well, yet again.
Wow, I'm in awe at the age of your UA-cam channel
@Ben Lurie no
a video with Cliff is just the christmas present i needed
His enthusiasm is as important as his brilliance
Prof Cliff's giggle sounds like Mario!
Just woke up for christmas, it's currently 5:47am, check my sub feed and see conical loaf of bread, I'm intrigued
What an I-conic video and what an i-conic man!
Cliff Stoll is a gift to humanity. Merry Christmas!
KING CLIFF IS BACK BABYYYY
That little laugh at 1:12 just made my day!
Edit: he does it throughout the whole video! I love this man.
It's oddly satisfying seing a Mathematician having the time of his Life baking a cone shaped Bread and slicing it.
4:04 what a fun house!. even the bread is smiling 😃
I absolutely love Cliff’s exictment whenever he is in a vid, he is the man i wish to be
This couple is the most wholesome thing I've ever seen
Cliff is the best Christmas gift.
Cliff is always an endless source of pure and simple joy.
Not to be hyperbolic, but I am on a parabolic path over the moon to see another video with Cliff Stoll
he made an elliptical slice of bread! funniest thing I've ever seen
I couldn’t imagine a more fitting video for Christmas. Cliff is an absolute treasure. Merry late Christmas!
It is so great to see Cliff rhapsodize hyperbolically about his bread. Thank you for this.
How can you not love Cliff!!
How I envy such a man having the time of his life just in his home making mathematical bread with his wife
The absolute glee of cutting that bread and seeing his success at achieving his ends... it's the perfect HEEHEE absent minded professor and I absolutely adore it!
This guy is happier about cutting cones than I've been about anything in my entire life, I love it!
Never thought have so much fun watching someone cut bread. His enthusiasm is magical and catching.
There’s nothing more that I want for Christmas than Math Santa and some Conic Loafs. Thank you for this bountiful gift Brady, and enjoy the holidays!
This man’s excitement and enthusiasm is great! I wish he was my neighbor, I would listen to him talk about math all day long.
His enthusiasm is contagious. He reminds me of a more excited version of my physics teacher.
What a hyperbolic Christmas gift! I love videos with Cliff Stole! He's such an amazing person!
I love this guy, I'm studying maths right now and if I go crazy I wanna go his kind of crazy xD
Or we are just the crazy ones^^
I love the positivity of Cliff and how much he enjoys life.
The sheer, exuberant, simple joy is infectious!
Cliff is always such a joy to watch! He’s clearly passionate about what he does :)
Seeing someone so excited and enthusiastic about Mathematics ... That just makes me happy and Makes my day ....

He's high on math!
Cliff looks like a profesor from "Back to the future". Also very excited about what he is doing. And very positive man 🏆
Of course the 10th anniversary of this channel cannot be celebrated without this man! Cheers.
The best Christmas gift I could have hoped for from Numberphile :)
That worked really well! And the cutaways to the animation of idealized math bread were helpful. Merry Christmas
Another Cliff Stoll video... Christmas doesn't get any better than this! Thanks Numberphile, Merry Christmas!
this is truly one of the best gifts i could ask for. the delight of hyperbolic bread with plum jam. making some conic bread is on my bucket list now
Cliff is back!
An iconic conic loaf cut hyperbolically by a hyper loaf. I love Cliff's energy.
This is the best Numberphile video since sliced bread.
I have never seen anybody this happy when slicing bread XD
This man is having too much fun cuting conics out of bread, it's just too wholesome
But was it wholegrain?
@@Fyrefrye Well I sure hope it was :D
what about cutting straight down from the peak getting 2 straight line
Cliff Stoll ist just the best person. Baking a conic loaf of bread just to enjoy a homemade plum jam sandwich. This world needs more Cliffs.
A new Cliff video makes such a wonderful Christmas Present. 🥰
I just love how gleeful Cliff is.
Sconic sections would have been amazing!
I wouldn't be surprised if you told me Cliff is Santa Claus at this point
There is so many kids happily playing in this video ! Merry Christmas !
No matter the subject, seeing Cliff talk about something is always a joy. It's just wonderdul to see people talk aout something with such passion and excitement
His cackle of excitement would sound ominously evil if I didn't know it was from genuine (albeit unorthodox) joy in cutting conical sections out of a conical loaf of bread.
Wonderful, absolutely brilliant
Btw, I have Cliff's book "The Cuckoo's Egg" and it's marvelous!
hadn't realised until now that his is the same Cliff Stole. Thanks!
he now certainly knows not to put his shoe in the oven 😂
Woah! I had no idea! I just read the description, and I must have that book immediately. Thank you for mentioning it.
Their excitement is infectious. Great video.
A Cliff video! Truly a Christmas miracle!
