Just had lion's mane for the first time this year, a local farm sells them at the farmers market, and I was amazed with them. Battered, breaded, and pan-fried they make a spectacular chicken or fish substitute, and a little bit of Italian seasoning or old bay seasoning in the batter, depending on what you are going for, really sends them over the top.

Hey Adam! I’ve mentioned in my comments in earlier videos that I’ve been foraging wild mushrooms for 25 years. Out of the many, many edible fungi, the Lions’ Mane has to be right near the top of my favorites list. I love the texture of this one when eating, and though it may not appear so, one the size that you demonstrated provides a lot of deliciousness for two people, or close to a meal for one, as you know. Thanks for another wonderful vlog!

Hi, there! I serve as a resident volunteer down here in Florida state parks. Two days ago I spotted one of these, about 12 inches long. I was fascinated by its beauty, but had no idea what it was. I ran a photo of it through Google Lens and read everything I could about it. That day I harvested it and ate my very first foraged wild mushroom. It has sparked an exciting new interest for me! Needless to say, I’ll be binge watching your channel and learning all that I can! Thank you for your information and passion as I set out on my mycological quest!

[Learn Your Land {Adam}] Those grow in E. Oklahoma also. Many of the places where you hunt, as in, certain types of forest, e.g., Hemlock forest, are not common (to my limited knowledge) in the lower midwest, e.g. the Ozark foothills, but, one environment that is very common to that area is oak forest. I have harvested one of those Lion's Mane mushrooms. I had never seen one before; and I think I may have seen one since. So, I am assuming that they are not so common to the lower midwest, but it was good eating, and it was a good hike when I found it. Thank you for every good thing you put your hand to.

I couldn’t find any lions mane this season, dangit! It was really sad to see a local forest area today with all the Chagas hacked out completely. They didn’t even leave a trace behind, and they damaged the trees.... I keep bringing little pieces of chaga with me and inserting it into the damaged trees... not sure if that actually works or not... You got me completely obsessed with mycology . Thank you !!

found huge one today in the middle of the Metropolis of Raleigh North Carolina on a fallen beech tree that's been there for years. this huge beech has given massive amounts of oyster mushrooms turkey tail, several I can't identify etc. I stop by there once a month to see what's happening but it's down a super steep incline I don't usually go all the way down to its end but today I did. At the very end cut by chainsaw was a four or five pound lion's name so wonderful to find!!! Beyond ecstatic. I didn't take all of it and I took little pieces of it and "Seeded" it all around other parts of the log. so happy to have found this and so happy to have found Adam Haritan years ago to guide me on my way thru the exciting world of mushrooms

Still have not found one after 3 years of regular foraging. Did eat 24 different wild species this year though.

I found my first lions mane a few weeks ago by accident. It was double the size of my palm and about 8 ft high on a rotting birch tree. Remember to look up high too! So exciting

I buy these at my local farmer's market and love them. What is the best way you have found to cook them? I really appreciate your videos...you are always so informative and make identification so much less confusing. I grew up in New England but now live in CA.... and miss the Eastern woods. thank you so much for your videos!!!!!

This is the mushroom find that intrigued me enough to go looking for more last year, mid-october. I wish I remembered which tree species it was on, I didn't know that was important at the time.
Now that I know where to look I can't find more ;)
