- Hello people!
This is the last part for the dogs comparison, believe it or not these were the most basic aspects cause if I went into details like traits, collectibles, etc. This would've taken way more than 3 parts to finish dogs! I hope I didn't let anything important out but here ya go. Here you'll find aspects of dogs like breeding, puppies, growing up, giving pets up, pets being taken, their death, their ghosts and other unique stuff the games have to offer.
So what do you think, which one's your winner?
My Opinion?
Sims 1 was okay but I didn't like the fact that there was no puppy to be seen...at all. I entered the game in 3D just to see and nope, the crib's empty, it's a little detail but it bugs me. I find it interesting these are the only dogs that can die due to being mistreated so there's that. Overall it did good for its time but right now comparing it to the rest seems almost unfair to me.
Sims 2 has some solid things added like the fact that the puppies do exist here and the way a mix breed dog will actually show, although in the of case my dogs none of them had a coat that resembled the parent's not in color but in shape so the gene system there isn't so great, and well, it was the first. One thing I really like is that they added werewolves, makes a lot of sense to have them in this expansion.
Sims 3 was enjoyable with puppies since they're given more freedom here and their genetics are far better than all the other games since the offspring will resemble both parents. I also liked the idea that a dog may save a sim from the reaper.
Sims 4 is probably the one with the cutest puppies not because of their look but because of the way they interact with the world, they're way more curious than the rest plus their animation is more fluid. Another aspect that I liked is elder dogs do act tired and more careful so props to them for that! I still don't like the fact that you can't control them, I'm always using mods here because I want control dammit!
But that's just my opinion, be sure to leave yours ;D

I personally like the sims 3's death for a dog; its much like a last bitter sweet goodbye with the grave even being a bone shaped one.
I almost cried at the sims 4 once to be honest
I like how in The Sims 4 you can age down your pets and bring them back from dead.

@@lisaaquaris6932 In The Sims 3, pets could get a “Young Again” potion as a lifetime reward for 20,000 lifetime happiness points, and when they drank it, they would turn into an adult (it is meant to be used on elders, not kittens lol), and pets can eat Ambrosia (which brings a Sim who passed away back to life, or for a living Sim, gives them eternal youth).
Woman giving birth in the sims: screaming in pain, kids freak out evrywhere around.
Dog giving birth in the sims: sleeps throught it, nobody cares.

I mean, that's how it is in real life too. Dogs are not bipedal, they don't feel pain through giving a birth.

You forgot the best part about puppies in the Sims 3 (In my opinion anyways lol). If an adult dog is sleeping on a large pet bed, a puppy will get the option to snuggle with it and sleep and it's the cutest thing ever

I sometimes stood there for long minutes to watch them snuggle, even took photos at times.

I honestly always hated the puppy stage because they could never go up and down stairs and it made me so mad having to pick them up and take them outside and the other way around lol

Sims 3 dogs can save a Sim from the reaper?! Wish that was in Sims 4, it would be cool. :D I love my Sims 4 doggos, but I think Sims 2 and 3 had some better interactions. Give me tug of war ropes in Sims 4 plz! And finger wiggle, that was a classic.

Quick story in the Sims 3 pets (on the xbox 360 for some bloody reason) I had a houshold with one guy and two dogs with the opposite sex: one day my two dogs woohood or... I dunno how to spell it and the female one managed to get pregnant then a few (sim) days later the pregnant dog stopped working for some reason and she wouldnt do any of my commands until my sim started cooking until the clock stopped and the sim just couldn't stop cooking so then I reloaded the save and then two things happened at the same time: the sim started a fire, and the dog gave birth during the fire. Wow it was crazy

Why did the Grim Reaper get so mean in the Sims 4?? No more last game of fetch! :( But in all seriousness, I love all the new mechanics introduced in TS4...but I miss being able to control my pets, I know it's not realistic or whatever...but it gave me something to do while my sims were off at work! (I know there's a pet control mod, but I'd like it vanilla)

I think The Sims 3 is the best, since when you breed cats/dogs/horses with different colors there is a largue chance their offspring will come multicolored.
That's why i play Sims 3 more than Sims 4 :p
Edit: I made a sim with a dog and i adopted a unicorn, the dog was a female collie and i made her visit the Fox household (Appalosa plains) everynight, and then i made her mate with Sheep and later on she had two puppys, i gave up the one that looked mostly like her and stayed with the one that looked like he's father but had most of he's mother's coat on him.
The colours overall in sims 3 were the best like you could change colour on clothes and objects to what you wanted. I hate how you can't do that in sims 4.

ts2 doesn't have free world. you can't control puppies either but much more interactions and things and that's why i love ts2, my fav

I loved TS1 ❤ but the winner for me is TS3~
I like the sims 2&3 best cause you can 1. See there moods 2. You had bit more control over them so you could give your sims hard time like most real pets do irl. Last thing if you do buy for ps4 or something else long them lines really hard to get the mods to control sims 4 pets...

The Sims 4 cats and dogs are my favourite in the series, but the puppies in 3 are very obviously the best.

I think Sims 3 and Sims 4 kind of tide in my opinion.
because I like how in Sims 4 you can revive your pets and age them down with the treats. but in Sims 3 your pets can help revive Dead Sims.

Man the Sims 4 really is lacking in a lot of features from the Sims 2 and Sims 3 both small and big it’s a shame really bc I do enjoy the Sims 4 but I still wish we had some of the smaller things or special animations

The sims are a bit weird sometimes! Why can the sims interact with ghost dogs and even add them into the household but they can’t do that with the human ghosts??

I know I'll probably sound rude with this, but how do you make a dog be able to have puppies again? (Sims 4). All I can think about that machine is that it activates/deactivates the poor thing eggs, for lack of a better word.

Not sure why you mentioned relationship for sims 3 but not sims 2. I'm pretty sure that in order to conceive puppies, the dogs need to have a good relationship too? Both with each other and the owner that asks them to try for puppies. Also, I think that you can affect how your lot draws in the wolves by putting there trees and such. There are more wolves that don't have the glowy eyes, but you can recognize them by their shape if you look carefully. I think that being in friendly terms with them increases the possibility of the glowy-eyed alpha appearing in your lot.

I had this household in the sims 3 and it was the best household I have ever made. They had this husky that they got when he was a pup. He lived a wonderful live ;-; And when he died of old age he still came to the house and play with the family :’) His name was Max (really generic name but I was 10)
It just occured to me that I've never seen a dog die in The Sims, because I always use cheats to make them immortal :D
