Thanks. This is exactly the video I was looking for - from someone who actually has the machine and can give an honest assessment. Way better than the marketing videos, lol. So far, I like mine a lot and you're right - it's very affordable.
We bought this the other day from Costco. Yesterday we put it together and took my husband and I about 3 hours. Your video is very good and I found it more informative than the Marcy video. Thank you for taking the time. You should do more videos with some exercise programs.
I just purchased this yesterday! Thanks for this video. I’m a 5’0 female and I was curious about the different muscle groups that I would be able to target with ease. I love going to the gym but sometimes I just need to be ale to do a quick workout.
Here at the end of 2023 - how did it hold up after five years? Is the Marcy the same as the Pro Form Carbon unit (I think maybe)? Is yours 125 lbs weight stack? Was it difficult to assemble, did it require more than one person to do it? I’m also 6’2” so I appreciate the notice in the size/use of it. I’m just getting started in this journey and this looks like a decent cheap entry point.
Just bought one (MWM-988) usually $700-999 off of Offer Up. Got it, curl bar, adjustable incline/decline bench with leg extensions and some plates for $300. Can’t wait to use it. Great video.
Thank you for posting this! It’s very helpful! I’m 5’1 so this may be perfect for me! However, my husband is 6’5 so I’m glad you demonstrated what works and what is awkward for a tall guy!
Waiting on delivery of Marcy MKM 81010. This video really helped give me an idea of what to expect. I'm also a tall guy, so I appreciate how you made some adjustments.
Just bought one off of Offer Up. Got it, curl bar, adjustable incline/decline bench with leg extensions and some plates for $300. Can’t wait to use it. Great video.
I just bought one in new condition on offer up for..... ** insert drumroll** $50 bucks!!!! Woooooo!! 🏆 Score!! It’s just supplemental gear for days that I can’t make it to the gym but it’s a solid build .
I just got my 3 boxes today. Looking forward to the after assembly part :) I am thinking the leg curl pully can be used for upright rows by sitting on the floor , facing the leg extensions. And then some additional attach and extra quick clips as everyone recommends. Thanks for the video !
I have bought this machine in pakistan.and i didnt have any book or guidance.thanka to you for showing me how to use such a machine.it is a great workout equipment for home use or personal use.thanks man
Does it have good weight resistance? Is it possible to tie a few 10 lb weight plates to the weight stack to add more resistance?? Looks like a nice machine!
I bought this machine during the beginning of the quarantine during the pandemic since I know I wouldn’t be going to a gym for at least 2-3 months. By myself it took about 7 hours to build. Was complex and I’m a slow Processor lol. But the machine is fantastic! I bought other common gym attachments like handles and the tricep ropes and a straight bar. My only complaints are that the machines ankle strap is of poor quality ( but nbd you can get a good one from amazon for $10) and that the lowest weight setting is too hard to do the ankle exercises for most people. I can do the easiest weight, but my girlfriend and sisters and my parents can’t which sucks. All in all, GREAT affordable home gym , hell of A deal
This is a very helpful review. It’s straight to the point. What I really wanted to know is if I’m too tall for it and based on your review I probably am. I’m just under 6”4’ and it looks like I’d really have to lean back to do lat pulldowns. You didn’t specifically mention it, but it looks like it’s a bit cramped when doing chest flys. It doesn’t look like you can adjust the bars to make them wider. Still, for the price, it looks like it does a really good job of hitting almost all of the muscle groups.
Appreciate your breakdown of other exercises to do on this machine, the video demo by Marcy does not give all of the exercises that you explained. I would have liked to know how hard it was for you to assemble, I have seen that people had problems in early part of assembly and had to undo certain steps to correct, but I would like to know what is the confusion in instructions on that issue. Otherwise great review, appreciated this because I have just purchased for Christmas gift. Thanks
Thank you for posting this video. It is so clear and informative. I have a Mercy Platinum but I have not used it as well as I could have for lack of information on how to utilize the machine. Do you have any plans to make any further videos to help novices like myself? Perhaps a video on how to utilize the machine to develop daily workouts to target specific muscle groups?
Thanks for this review my friend. You explained this in a clear calm and easy to listen way! You have a knack for presentations. Purchased a similar piece under the name LAND RANGER 990 and waiting for delivery. I have free weights at home and will be using this machine to really supplement my free compound lifts.
@@scottog3929 I will give my review on it for anyone else wondering too: (sorry for the long answer) It's an entry level piece of machine into home gyms. I did get it and I absolutely love this home gym BUT I do not recommend fully for tall persons like myself and the set is not without some cons (seems like I am contradicting my self lol) BUT it still gets the job done with a little awareness and thought (I get very good workouts from this set). For the price of this I could not go wrong. Anyone under six feet tall will be very happy with this set. Quality is very good and seems it can last years once not misused. Few things I noted: 1) I am tall (6'3") the leg extension does not work properly (my feet slightly hits on the front base metal)unless I do one leg at a time and sort of shimmy to one side. The low price I bought this for I am completely ok with that because I have a squat rack and I do free bar squats. Use the leg extension to warm up. Hamstring leg curls are awesome tho. 2.) The weight stack tower is not very tall. Being tall I have to adjust my range of motion or where I stand when doing standing curls or tricep press downs. 3.) You only get the lat pull down bar so any other handle attachments has to be bought. Handles make a world of difference to the number of exercises more you can perform (extra expense tho) All in all: Back,Chest,Arms and Shoulders (even abs can be done) superbly on this set even for tall persons.
@@scottog3929 Hey at 5'10" you would beast this machine out lol..Once the price is good for you go for it. If you can also get a triceps rope handle, rotating short curl bar and single d handles you would be set. I think I replicate almost 90 percent of the stuff I do in a commercial gym on this set.
Thanks, think I am going with this one, still deciding. The negatives dont affect me as I am shorter. Also a little older so the max weight is plenty for what I am trying to achieve. I notice there is no shoulder press options but those can be done with a few free weights anyway. Any other negatives I should know?
Yes with a flat/inclinable bench and dumbelks, you can do additional bench press, and dumbbell work for the shoulders. Only leg press and calf raises are missing for basics. But with dumbells, you can do lunges, straight legs lifts for lower back, and squats. The range of motion people usually try is excessive. Just need a little movement, going very slow, and you’ll burn muscle fibers. Better for your joints and zero injury. Stretching is different than weight lifting ;)
Good review sir. I am thinking about buying one. Squats are beginning to take a toll on my left hip. I think the leg extension and hamstring curl could more or less replace the squat for me.
I just bought this as well.. So far so good. I did the same thing you did with the bench press bar. Yours is installed backwards. I had to unbolt it and turn it around where the logo is facing out.
Thanks for your helpful review!! I love this machine but am worried that I might outgrow the 150lbs of weight and want more. Do you feel like 150lbs is enough weight? Have you ever maxed out with all the weight and if so how does it feel? Thanks you
OK so I took a chance and bought this machine just put it together and let me tell you the 150 pounds will be enough. It is 150 pounds of weight but with the pulley system they give you a chart and with the chest press with all the weights it looks like it’s a resistance of 200 pounds they have a resistance chart if you type it in Google and it will show you the weight resistance for each exercise. Hope this helps everybody. By the way this is an awesome machine. It blew me away. I am 6 feet tall and it is a . challenge on some exercise, I have to adjust the chain to make it work for me for the pull downs but overall extremely happy go for it. Great company. Also, I was missing a part I called them up and they sent it out. No questions asked great customer service.
litty lit I’ve had 4 men try the machine and none were able to do one rep on Max weight. They were all ranging in size from between 170-220 pounds. Hope that gives you an idea of if you’ll need more weight or not.
litty lit oh yeah it’s plenty of weight. I’m a semi intense gym fanatic who likes to bench and squat and deadlift a lot of weight, I find this to be enough. If you are doing 150 for every workout you’re too big! Lol

Gordon King I wasn’t able to bench the full weight. I’ve also had a few other men try who are roughly 200 pounds themselves and pretty fit and at best could get a half rep off with full weight.
Gordon King I have a machine like this. I haven’t lifted since high school and have only recently restarted. I’ve never been able to press all six of the weights; five is the most I can muster, and I mostly use four. On the lat pull down, on the other hand, I use all six. For triceps extension, I use three or four. The pulley-cable ratio is too much for me for curls. I use barbell and dumbbell free weights for that and for overhead press. My son, who is in ROTC and very fit, presses all six weights regularly. So it depends on how advanced you are.
Great video Jake. Got mines 2 days ago, cant wait to set it up and start exercising. I like the idea of placing the equipment on a mat so not to damage the floor. What kind of mat is that?
I love my home gym tell me something bro I choose whole body workouts monday Wednesday and Friday I am comfortable that way but can you give me a guide of how much reps and sets I should do per workout? Thanks
It all depends on your goals my friend. General rule I’ve followed for years is 3 sets of 8-10 reps of your maximum weight if your going for bulk and 3-4 sets of 15 reps of your maximum weight if your going to tone up. Honestly I just base my workouts off whatever event I have coming up so my goals change.
The chest fly routine are obvious to many but you can use it for bench pressing (seated) as well, you just have to remove the pin/lock located on top of your head. Do your seated bench press with shoulder blades locked and your back arching (like standard bench press) to maximize the effect of your efforts. I've seen and tried it in some mall (the 150 lbs max model) and was good looking and functional at the same time. I'm planning to buy it soon.
Can you add more weight to the weight stack not sure if your is the 150 or 210 but just curious if they a option to add more weight as some allow some don't. Thanks
