New subscriber here. I just found your wonderful channel. My husband and I have been struggling on our homestead due to health issues, and it's been so discouraging. It makes me happy and encouraged seeing others who are successful. Thank you for sharing your wisdom here.
As always, a beautifully done video. To the point and packed full of information. I never thought of filling my empty jars with water. Just one more way to maximize storage. Thank you!
"An empty jar is just that." What wise words to fill it with water. It's the potential to be of use one day. Much like people. You have so much to share and I am so glad to have stumbled into your channel. Thanks!
I really love your videos. We moved onto our farm a couple years ago. We have about 3.5 acres so it’s so refreshing to see how much you’ve jam packed onto your property!
This is my first time raising chickens (6 in my flock). In the fall I started waterglassing the extra abundance until I reached 12 dozen stored in gallon jars in my basement. My hens crack me up--so fun! I've learned even more healthy hints from you today. Thanks so much for the video. Nee subscriber. ~ 🐓
Chickens are so fun to have and watch! Waterglassing is something I need to do more of. I’ve only done it a few times in all the years I’ve had chickens. Thank you! 😊
You have a great layout to your garden....the pathways look well organized.....I use alot of hot beds here in the North....to get an early start.... we have horses....they give us alot of that " GOOD STUFF" 😊
I have some hot beds out back in the orchard. Isn't it great how well that works?!?! AND, having your own "GOOD STUFF" sure makes the garden! Thank you! 😊
I love your very educational and informative videos. I have chickens and am wanting to plant fruit trees this year. I am wondering if you could give some more info or maybe a video about your goats and your set up for them. And how you store their milk. Again thank you so much for your wonderful videos!
I love how much you've fit into1/2 an acre! Could you go through how you planned out your garden? I'm trying to fit fruit trees and lots of food into my yard and it looks like you have that all figured out. I would love chickens too, but my husband says no😭
I’d love to hear more about your spacing and pruning for your fruit trees. I’m eager to actually grow a decent crop of fruit but our dwarf trees aren’t cutting it. I’m heavily debating on getting some semi-dwarfs but I can’t find info on how to keep them smaller to manage the size better. I’d love to hear how to prune them to keep them smaller while not compromising on production 🤩
Thank you for that! That will help me plan my orchard tour! I think I’ll include what you are looking for 🥰. Keeping semi dwarf tree are what’s in my garden area (except fig) and they can be kept to whatever size you need them with a little work.
Have you ever tried dairy sheep? I have a similar space as you for milking animals. I was learning towards goats but I LOVE sheep so much more. Plus wool. Just curious your thoughts on sheep in a dry lot. We don't have pasture.
I have thought about sheep but never done much with them. We raised a bummer lamb and he was never friendly like our goats. Maybe it was just him. I am loving spinning and a little obsessed with wool right now , but I have the goats and no extra room. I don’t have any background on raising them and wouldn’t be much help to you. Maybe someday. I do have angora goats and they fit nicely. they are dirty little piglets! But sooo cute. Do you spin?
@@Alisorganics I'm in Western NC outside of Asheville so this is a huge angora, alpaca, and wool area for fiber. I haven't begun spinning...yet...but I want to! I was at a friends this week getting all the details to start my dairy goats and fell in love with her dairy sheep. The sheep were so sweet and gentle and not as naughty....plus wool...so now I'm diving into the research. My space seems more suited for goats but I'm learning there could be many benefits to a small sheep flock of 3 in a smaller space. I love your channel! It's challenging me to uplevel my space. I have to get creative with our homestead space but the Lord provides!
As usual, I loved your video. I would like if you could tell me the name of your organic chicken feed. If you mix it yourself please share the video of you making it with the products thank you. I have not been able to source a decent size bag of organic sunflower seeds.thanks for sharing.
We had milking goats many years ago and I found that if you keep the Billy with them it taints the milk. So keep your milking goats well away from a Billy and the milk tastes so much better R
YES! I do it a lot in the summer months. I feel the extra moisture in their feed keeps them better hydrated in the hot summer months and the egg production does not drop. Plus, it good for them.
Do you have a hard time finding homes for your kids that’s the only reason and the only reason we don’t do dairy goats becuz we only have 3.25 acres here in Illinois and already have 5 mini horses so we can’t take on much more animal wise, but. Nigerian goats yes, but the kids no🙁
That’s very interesting to hear as I know a lady who breeds, shows and sells goats here near Chicago and she said the same thing that last yr the bucklings sold first which she also said was unusual…wonder what that’s all about 🤔thanks for replying back.
Do you like those metal raised beds?? Would you recommend them and where did you buy them?
I do like them! They come in several different sizes and I have them scattered all over the property! They are Vego. Here is a link: a.co/d/gKuHWTf

Superb......
Can i have an image of the laying boxes in a stand alone basis
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Ali, I hope to see you soon. Nadine
Spring is coming! We are excited about it around here....But, its been a really nice winter so far..... See ya soon!
As usual, I loved your video. I would like if you could tell me the name of your organic chicken feed. If you mix it yourself please share the video of you making it with the products thank you. I have not been able to source a decent size bag of organic sunflower seeds.thanks for sharing.
The pellets, sunflower seeds and grain I use are from Modesto milling. I’ll be doing a chicken care video soon and show what all I use.
We had milking goats many years ago and I found that if you keep the Billy with them it taints the milk. So keep your milking goats well away from a Billy and the milk tastes so much better
R
Oh you are so right! Thank you for making that point, which I forgot to mention. We don’t keep a buck here. Mostly because we don’t have the room.
Would love to know what herbs you plant around the chicken coop😊
Great! I’ll be doing that in my chicken care video come spring. 😃
Do you have dwarf fruit trees?
Semi-dwarf. I prune heavily on most to keep them smaller. We do have some older large cherries and apricots.
Are you wanting to do something like this?
Do you/have you fermented your chicken feed? Does it help or add benefit for y'all?
YES! I do it a lot in the summer months. I feel the extra moisture in their feed keeps them better hydrated in the hot summer months and the egg production does not drop. Plus, it good for them.
where do you buy your dwarf trees?
Food forests nursery, there’s a link in our “48 fruit trees on a quarter acre” video. Thank you.

I’ve haven’t had any problems selling my kids. The bucklings are generally slower to go, but the last few years they have been the first to go.
That’s very interesting to hear as I know a lady who breeds, shows and sells goats here near Chicago and she said the same thing that last yr the bucklings sold first which she also said was unusual…wonder what that’s all about 🤔thanks for replying back.
What type of goats do you have?
Nubians for dairy. I have a couple angora for fiber.
