Just got my cdl permit I will be binge watching all your videos😂 happy to start seeing more women in this line of work ❤
Peace✌️ and blessings 🙏🏽
Good luck! Same to you!
I see more and way more women every day driving and I like seeing that. Good luck, I’m happy for you, and be careful out there.
I got my CDL recently now looking for a truck 🚚
I drove a KW because my Freightliner was being repaired. The Kw ride is smoother than the Freightliner and it handles better but my Freightliner has way more storage and I like the steering wheel controls especially the cruise control on my shaky freight.
I LOVE freightliner becus of tha storage, if u hav to live in a Trux for 2weeks at a time I NEED ROOM. So freightliner an Volvo's are my nu# 1 choice.... No storage in KW.
After you lower the landing gear. Drop the air bags, then pull out. You can damage or break the landing gear just letting it drop💪🏾
I never drop my airbags when hooking or unhooking. I have seen many guys gets stuck or caught something and broke something.
You shouldn't have to do that just raise it up as high as you possibly can and it'll be smoother for you to drive off away from trailer
He right they make air bags for a reason 😂 why else would they put a airbag switch on the truck if they want you to raise the landing gear as high as you can. That’s incorrect because all trucks not the same height so the next guy might have to lower the gear hopefully that trailer empty
She didn’t even bother to respond to you , or acknowledge your opinion to much pride to admit she is wrong for doing that, anyone with common sense would understand dropping something over and over especially a fully loaded trailer with that force hitting the ground would eventually break the gears, but you can’t tell these kind of people nothing it’s not their equipment.
Idk know she knew ALL the steps right and STILL do it incorrectly.
I’m a freightliner man but I drive a kw right now and the kw sits lower than the other trucks so when they drop the trailer is too high for the kw so I have to get out and lower the trailer a little bit if I was in a freightliner I would be able to just back under it no problem
I love my T680. I just purchased it. I am blessed. Thanks for sharing.
I wouldn’t worry about leaving a gap because a lot of trucks are different even same model. So you could be making it too low for the next person. If it’s too high when the next person picks it up, they can easily adjust it down versus upwards.
And if it’s snowy conditions trying to get under that trailer will be tough
Freight shaker heard good things about Kenworth & that Pete too but when it comes to repairs as a owner I rather not I love my Freightliner Cascadia lol
😆😆😆😆😆 I gotta nothing but love ❤❤❤💯for you I have been driving since 1979 Professionally every day is a learning experience be safe out here in the truck world 🌎
No way that truck should have lost that much air pressure while the truck is running, even with your foot over the brake, that truck has a air leak somewhere
Or it could need new glad hand seals on both truck and trailer. Getting new ones fixed my minor airleak
They usually use their worst or old truck for these road test. Or a truck that just got out the shop.
Yes and low air buzzer was not going off
Unless you keep pressing the brake.. you gotta trust the vehicle to creep
Imagine losing your air pressure on the weigh scale?? 😭 Sit on it all night till the tow truck came.
I’m 6.5yrs in.. Freights been my first love.. but, lowkey Volvo’s are really good too. Been in one the last 2yrs
The new pete’s and KWs have are programmed to automatically use the engine brake when youre coming to a stop so it’ll get jerky if youre not expecting it. The idea is to use the service brake pedal less.
Wow, that's awful! Thanks for the heads up. Thinking about getting my CDL again.
6yrs in for me I love your learning style and you seem chill about it respect- be safe out there on these roads it’s can be pretty crazy sometimes. I seen some pretty wild shit stay safe.
Love your video my first time watching, I'm been owner operator now for 14 year now I have my own company, always and only had a freighliner bc it's very affordable to maintain. Stay strong my beautiful sister.
Just keep putting your timing in. You got put in A situation and you learned from it. That what helps you become A seasoned driver. Keep the push button on my sister! Much respect!
Good words I agree 💯🙏🏿
The jerking is just like you said. It's just getting use to the breaking system on the kenworth. The fifth wheel do sit higher. Love the energy keep trucking and besafe.
Everything look good to me!! Hopefully I’ll see you out there someday! Keep on Truckin girl!!
We all have our days when things just not going right😆 Great video, keep going skies the limit!!
I drove a Kentworth for the first time about a week ago in orientation and I hated it. I want my Freightliner the turn radiance is way better with the Freightliner
Vee Lee. You killed the scene with Mike. You had me feeling myself 😅. Naw for real you killed it, You go girl 👏🏾 .
Forget That... Give Me The FreightShaker. All Day. Every Day. 10-4! ! 👍🏾😁
Thank you for sharing your experience. I plan on getting a CDL license next year through a truck driving school.
The wheel base is longer on the kw/Pete freightliner cascadia international prostar are the the easier trucks to turn. I'm an freightliner guy
Thanks for the info I have a Freightliner and was looking to get into a Kenworth I'm going to test drive one to get a feel for it. Thanks Sis
Smart lady! I wish you much success! Love your personality and good vibes!🥰
I use to work for marten and I started in a KW and same thing happened to me a lot I felt embarrassed, sitting in the middle of the parking lot, waiting for my airbag to build up. So I ask my Fleet manager for a different truck and he gave me a 2021 Peterbilt with only 35,000 miles on it never did that and I loved it.
Vee, you were very informal with all the information you gave on this video. You are a natural at this, sister👍🏾 💯💯💪🏽💪🏽
Freightliner lover here ❤
Marten Trucks are modified to work that way. It will not let you accelerate while the breaks are engaged and yes the air pressure will get low if you over use the foot break.
I don't even drive a truck, but this was a good video.
Much props you and all the other Truck Drivers.
I've driven both and to me I'm a KW guy hand's down once you get all the way comfortable with the truck I think you'll feel the same way too.
I could see that
Lol I always make sure when I drop the landing gear I hear the air from my truck hissing that way when I pull from under it’s easy, that’s dangerous leaving the gap between the landing gear and the ground Vee..let the landing gear hit ground and turn it one or two more times after it touches the ground and you should be good👍 (btw I don’t mind lowering trailers either before I hook up)
KW, love driving that truck 👌
I got my license in a Peterbilt but have only driven freightliners and that's a difference but yeah I be seeing how long kenworth's wheel base is compared to other trucks. They just look uncomfortable to drive
😂 yea nah I’m good with my simple Freight shaker. Good video Vee 💪🏾
🤣 and thank you

It’s the person dropping the trailer!
I bought my 18 cascadia back in 18 new an Paid her off. I would love to trest drive a kw. I've driving for 34 years
. Keep up the good work beautiful
Don't feel bad , it's a lesson learned. I prefer to drive a freightliner over any other model truck.
I’m sitting here watching Kountry Wayne skits and Supposed to be watching trucking videos and completely in disbelief how much you and the girl from the skit look alike and sound alike 🤣🤣🤣 then boom it hit me
Currently in a kw but Ima Peterbilt man lol. Driving a 389 Pete is just a different feeling. Fixing to get back in one next month.
That’s me with my W9, when I was a company driver they gave me a 389 short hood hated the turning radius. Heard the exhd is the one you want. Now I’m in my own W9 and I’m back at home
Anything but a western star I can work with. But the Cascadia is the best truck I drove when I was on the road.
🙌🙌🙌
Not a fan of those trucks. I like my long hoods 379 Peterbuilt I’m old school been around trucks all my life. You talked about trailers to high. Not all trucks have the same fifth wheel some sit lower than others some are higher. Tire size is also a factor. Some of these comments don’t make sense to me what people are telling to try and do. Keep doing what you are doing ask questions get with some of us old school drivers so you can get the right answers. Be safe be careful! Downshift told you that. “ 10-4!”
I think you should allow trailer to hold its own weight before pulling from under...
Idk about the gap method but everything else she’s on point
It will be okay queen take your time .
I needed this video I want to work with marten . I’m with Crete right now thanks for sharing . Can you choose to drive a freightliner or you have no choice?
I'm from LA CA man I love hearing u talk that accent on hit ♋️
Kw was my 1st truck its a big difference in smoothness, my freightliner refrigerator will always come open while rolling 😂😂😤. Marten is a great company you'll make your money I worked out of the desoto location watch Blake!
Yea my truck do that but you may got a air leak tho , or some trailers got automatic air pumps it may be a hole in the trailer tire and if it jerks the lower rpm does that
I'm going through the same thing, I have a KW transitioning from an International!!! The KW has more power, their aren't cubby ports and cup holders like an International! I'm just getting used to the suspension raising and lowering when you start up the KW.
If I ever seen a truck driver looking like this, I'm holding on them backside handles. 🤣😂
I've driven everything but the later model volvos. As far as hittin the open road hands down Pete or KW, tight spots and turning tight corners volvo/ freightliner
I prefer the Freightliner over KW.
Magnificent video my divine ‼️
Kenworth has front disc brakes , that's y it feels different when stopping
Not all of them you can still get T680 with drum brakes all around and the Pete 579 ultra lofts it depends on how the company gets them spec from the dealer
Thanks for sharing. Please when you have a chance give us a tour of the truck. Thanks again pretty lady.
Dats Different yo. Just subscribed, notifications bell on!!!
I work for Marten as well. I have a KW as well I believe you have a bad air bag or 2 on your truck. I put my fridge on top bunk.
Freightliner is where it's at. Wait till you get to north NJ in that K-dub. In any event, best of luck to you. Be blessed and keep the rubber on road.
Love watching your UA-cam videos Vee Lee 😘😘😘😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Freightliner is the best 😂
As far as the gap, that’s what you’re supposed to do. Makes it easier for the next driver to whine it up. Good job❤
Absolutely. Only D-heads crank it till it lifts the trailer off of the 5th wheel a bit. They KNOW what they are doing when they do that too.
Probably sitting somewhere watching the next driver have to crank the legs down 👀
That's not right. The proper thing is lower landing gear til it touches the ground then pull out til you disconnect then drop airbags. This ensures that the surface can support the trailer. Once your sure that the trailer won't sink then pull away. Then reverse when picking up the trailers
Most of the time you run out of air pressure and you can't move it's because the truck is an automatic and A lot of automatic transmissions need air to operate
All you guys comments are okay BUT if you're an O/O, you wanna pay attention to what the major companies are putting in their fleet and that would be a Freightliner! All of them are subject to have repairs at some point, there's no getting around that but "how often" is the key question and what kind of mpg are you getting from the other makers? It's $4.45 where I am and I'm getting anywhere from 7 1/2 to 8 mpg in my Cascadia! That's what the Big Companies are looking for, how much they can save at the pumps! Y'all be safe out there and get back home to your families! 🤜🏾🤛🏾💪🏾🙏🏾
Kenworths have small cabin spaces i like the freightliner cascadia and the international prostars because of their large cabin space area and their easy to work on, the other hand them volvo vnl's appearances are nice but their hard to work on especially them dd 15's and if a volvo doesn't leak oil then it's something wrong with it lol.
Wrong detriot that's a series 60 that got common leak problems
Volvo doesn’t have a DD15, they have a D13. DD15 is Detroit short for Detroit Diesel 15 series.
@@nasheemwhye5197 some volvos have 15s and 16s not all tho
@@champ0925 The Volvo only has one engine with 2 different variants of this engine which is the D13 and the D13TC the other option like every other class 8 manufacturer is the Cummins X15 for performance, you ain’t never seen a Detroit in a Volvo unless it was a glider kit basically a older engine swapped into a newer body semi and it sure wasn’t a DD15 maybe a 60series as those are very popular with glider kits.
@@nasheemwhye5197 older volvos have series 60 but look up vt880 they have dd16 and 15s
Don't worry about the next person, you can drop the air bag , but never drop the land gear it may be damaged, because of the weight ,,and be careful drive safe
I swear you made me get my CDL.. I just got mine, what company should I look into startin with?
Man I wish I knew about the air thing a year ago lol. Freightliner for 8 1/2 years got with my new company and all KW. Embarrassing backing up and lost all air😅
So you that driver that wakes me up making that break air release noise 😂
I was a custom Peterbilt guy for over 20 years until I bought my 2019 kw w900l flat top. This is the Cadillac of trucks. The only freightliner I would buy is a 2000 classic xl with big Detroit. My personal opinion that's all
Just got into a new kw vs the 2018 truck manuel new is automatic and yes autos lose air backing up have same problem. My thoughts are that the new ones need more air in system old truck 120 lbs new ones should be 150lbs my new one runs 128. It feels like it's not enough.
Also cascadias have now how no shelves on top with doors just a top open shelf where everything falls out every time you hit a bump 🥺
I started off in a KW is one of my favorite to roll with the reverse have a about a 2sec delay on it for roll back safety after that u can back normally.. I have not ever had my kw ran out of air like that but I don't keep my feet on the break I just cover the break in press if needed..
I love Kenworth
she pretty lol. anyways I like how kenworths turns. like it seems way easier too back up. i luv freightliner tho. marten pays good I worked there.
Thanks Sis just started watching your utube I subscribed I finished with Western Express glad to get away properly in Orientation with Martin Now #2 Day Carlisle PA out of the Freightliner hoping to hop in the Kenworth upon completion Commercial Licenses since 2002 but just up it up to A one year experience now Thurl Philly Dude keep doing your thing hope to watch and see you out there peace ✌
The Kenworth T680 is the exact same. It's not an air leak, it's the programming lk u said. Kenworth is a much better ride and truck, but that turn ratio is tuff when backing in. It'll have ur arms as Big as HULK HOGAN'S after a year of driving it. LMAO 😂
The Volvo the best to me
You should put the landing gear all the way down to keep from damaging it. Also, everybody’s truck height’s not the same and they might have to jack the trailer up!!! 🌹🌹🌹
And u deserve my subscription ma'am keep going
Are from New Orleans? Besides that great informative video
Omg that same thing happened to me when backing aKW. Literally the most ANNOYING thing
Dump your airbags on the truck will let u come from under the trailer very ez especially if u leaving a inch or 2 higher than the ground
If you drive-in the automatic. Transmission they're run by air if you drive-in a manual transmission. You aint gotta worry about it so don't feel bad.
I learned on FL so I guess I like them better Kw are good though I’m driving a Mack now first time ever
I am not a driver but i love your video's.
Good evening driver. I've been drinking over 27 years and I drive a k-whop . I never seen a truck by itself build air that way. Tractor brakes are locked to build air. So I'm going to agree with you to say that might be how martin ordered thire trucks. Keep the rubber side down Driver 👍🏾💪🏾
OMG please don’t drop a trailer like that again. That’s dangerous, so do what you do as far as about to pull from under the trailer, but then lower your bags count to 4 then pull away slowly. Main reason is some trucks have a high rear cross frame and the kingpin can get caught and you’ll bend it and won’t be able to pull away, then have to jack it back up, and most of Marten load are very heavy, with that weight some trailers landing gear legs will give out, not often, but it’s happened before. So be careful and stay safe 🙏😊
I've been a trucker for a few decades and I find Freightliner to be the biggest pueces of junk. Their motors and transmissions are fine as they are not proprietary to Freightliner. They use Detroit's and Allisons or Eatons like many other mfg's. But their electrical, their unique DEF plumbing, sensors/NOx systems, ECU communication is garbage. The wiper controls are clunky and unresponsive at times. I've had to reset the air control module in many years and models. Especially in the winter. They derrate over the tiniest fuss.
I was also a heavy duty mechanic for a long time so I know these issues well. Freightliners are cheap for a reason. You get what you pay for. It doesn't matter if it's a Cascadia, M Class, Coronado/122SD. They all have severe electrical issues. Just like Volvo.
Kenworth W900 for the win. But those new T680s are drop dead gorgeous 🤤
Ur hair looks fine 😊
I own a Cascadia Freightliner but ain’t nothing like driving a long Hood 379 or Kenworth W900L
you are a sista that is doing it and I support you.
You can pull the steering wheel out on a KW, the seat bottom also extends out. I hate you can't do that in a Freightliner.
Love Peterbilt
Your should lower your tractor suspension to lower the landing gear to the so it won't just drop in case you have a damaged or week lander, keep little sister don't let nothing stop you, I've been out here 29 years and still trucking, be safe & watch the four wheelers.
KW's cab is very compact, I am 6'7" and my knees are on the dashboard!
Lol, Yeah, i work at the Shipping ports and the Yard Horse truck is the same Dumb way. Release the yellow brake to build up pressure. But when i drove 65ft double buses. You do it the nromal way. Pop both brakes hit the gas build up Pressure..
I drive for Labatt Foods I love the freightliner
I use to work with Marten out of Wilsonville Oregon
I disagree, I have lost air pressure in both Freightliner older and new ones backing also Pete's ..they all lose pressure backing especially tight spots.
I almost came back to Marten. Worked there for 5 years previously. But I found out that they still don’t have refrigerators in them.. it’s like they don’t care about there drivers like that. And they still pushing them damn CPAP machines. They must get a kickback or sum…
Bro that same shit happened to me when I was backing up first time driving one at a truck stop lmfao
