No need for a shield if you don't get hit, after getting rid of the shield put the sword with it's plain side parallel to your head against a shoulder. I guess...
This is the 'piece of the puzzle' I've been looking for... Got my roll mainly by trial and error, rolling 1000s of times over concrete. Started to train myself to jump far out with drops, roll got too stretched forwards.... now I'm re-starting with your video
is anybody else here after one too many injuries falling while skateboarding? this technique would be very helpful for that. if you watch any good skater, they fall a lot. and they always roll out of it to minimize impact. pls- this learning backwards thing is interesting. i have a feeling this tutorial is going to help me immensely. once my fractured elbow has healed...
Will you make a public playlist of all your tutorials? And do the ultimate kong tutorial next! Or maybe a bounce-back/crane tutorial. A "Common Coaching Mistakes" video would be amazing as well.
Okay so you should actually roll on the upper arm and lats, nice. Can you make a video with how to avoid hitting bones in the spine and hip? Because i definitely don't want calcified lumps in the spine or worse 😬 More details on how to transition to concrete safely would be nice to. Thank for the video any.
Genuine question. Wouldn't better mobility be of more help? If you have good hamstrings flexibility and hip mobility, you don't even need to lean the side to exit front roll. You just tuck your heel better to your glutes and you get up straight in the front roll. Not flaming, I think this tech and idea of doing it reverse is very good, that's how I perfect my rolls too, but learned front first and them tried to do front and back roll, back to back, in a continuous loop, from standing to standing. I'll definetely add it to my roll toolbox alternatives.
Allright! I'm finally doing this. FOR SO LONG I WANTED TO START PARKOUR. So I will record my progress here: Day 1 19.5.23 Getting out of my couch to get outside and warm up Day 1 28.6.23 Life happens 4.5.24 Ummmmmmmmmm, yeah. This is sad. And frankly unmotivating. BUT it's never too late to start again! DAY 1
Wow, that was really useful tutorial. I've already learned parkour roll, but made it straight and wrong and now I'm working on re- learning. It's more difficult. Gonna watch vid over and over again. It's pleasure
4:40 this was the point I was looking for, I stopped practing the 'shoulder' roll as my right shoulder got that bump at the back of it and was hurting a lot...
Great point I do BJJ, interesting variation on how we are taught. Will try both to see which works best especially if looking into a technical standup.
I have a question, I do parkour and I know how to roll. but whenever I do it on hard ground I will destroy the top of my scapula. how do I fix this? I tried rolling over the more meaty part of my shoulder but then I hit my spine and the top of my pelvis. any tips?
I just learned this one and it inspired me to try it out with some basic parkour, great fun. I know another typpe of shoulder roll from martial arts, where it's done standing and you end up standing up turned backwards, but for landing from a jump in squatted position I've been rolling straight forward, rather than over the shoulder. One question, the way you create a frame for the backwards roll, where youa don't have the arm extended, I saw that done forwards in another parkour video right after.... so I tried this as well and it seemed to work too.... what is the difference? It requires less space when you don't have the arm extended (like the right arm, if looking left), but I guess with the arm extended you're even more protected?
Y'all are so silly. Also, Rene, when you're in that back roll, upper-shoulder supported position, you kinda sound like Kermit, lol. This was super informative and entertaining. Love it.
The best tutorial I found for shoulder rolls. I was doing these rolls from a long time like 5-6 years without getting into parkour but now as I started parkour I practiced rolls with a drop onto a hard ground and only trying it from 6ft I smashed my shoulder. It's been 3 days but still not recovered.
This video drop was a nice deep dive that went right over my head, but I gotta hand it to ya, you guys are on a roll. Make sure you take a *break* so your quality doesn't *fall* and you can get right back on your feet again.
Thank you for this video. Back when I used to do this stuff 20 years ago, the people I tried learning from insisted that you are supposed to land on your shoulder. Sebastien Foucan was even with us once and he said to land on the shoulder first. It made no sense. I always used my hands and forearm as the first point of contact and it just made sense. Nice to know it was right to trust what felt better to me.
That was a very entertaining and creative tutorial. I wish I had a tutorial like this when I started.
Nice
pls adopt me papi

I always feel like I’m doing my roll “wrong”…because I am 😂😂 really excellent, and funny vid!! Keep it up. Maybe one day I’ll get it right 🤞😁
Who's also here BC of a nerf fight coming up
yessir
how should the roll feel? should it be a bit uncofrotable or a bit of pain on the first times?
Solid edit and cues, super good quality. Raised the bar. I’ll share with my students.
Yo just survived a 920k ft free fall , thanks for the tip bro

Don't hit your shoulder on the floor 👍

Траектория движения от одной лопатки к другой, потом на бедро. Так позвоночник ниже лопаток, а выход мимо выступающих частей таза.
Look up Kevin Secours' content on falling and rolling.
my roll has been working fine for a few years, except the pain in the backside of the shoulder from hard surface, the mystery you guys just solved!

Amazing depth! Very informative! Keep at it!
Why did the editors put a 5 second clip of kids dabbing in between the parts people have to replay. Absolutely ridiculous.
Thank you, I was finally able to defeat that Elden Ring boss!
Thanks for the tutorial. Was able to get it within two viewings and just repeating after you guys.

Came to watch this video after rolling and landing on my shoulder. Big ouch

This really helps me on my stop motion video, i made my action figure roll😁👍
Know forward rolls help to get up fast when trip and fall without injury.
How to avoid shattering shoulder blade and hip?
My Labrador does really good shoulder rolls too ❤
So can we say that the entrance is more like a side roll but exiting the roll diagonally?
