I actually think a lot of people have sad stories, only not all of them are youtubers, so of course when some great youtubers share theirs, it seems like they all have sad stories...
swiftie1613 Me too, reading books is like having a whole other identity with characteristics that you wouldn’t think you would ever be able to have. It helps me escape to this other dimension and get rid of all the negativity in my life. I love it.
I was bullied to. I have an illness that affects a lot of different points in my life. I would get bullied for it, and people took it for something it wasn't, like a contagious Illness. I shut myself out from the world, and still am shut out from a lot of my friends. For example, I don't talk to one of my friends that I've known since the day I was born, when I really should (I'm 13). That was a lot of information about me.... Sorry! Books were my outlet and made me feel like less of an introvert.
My Dad got lung cancer, and my whole world changed too. He died a year and a half ago and it has proven to be the absolute worst. I too pushed people away, and I also still struggle with things I was put through when I was bullied. I'm glad your momma is doing well, and I'm glad to see you've made a good life for yourself so far :) Gives me some hope.
I think the things I've been through have really opened my eyes and showed me that you can't waste your days being down, you have to keep your head up and hang in there. I still have my bad days, but I try my hardest to keep shining positivity.
Thanks for being such a sweetheart! Your videos always help me to keep living a positive lifestyle and to keep smiling. Thanks for being such a great and uplifting friend!
Jesse you probably won’t see this, but you are seriously the most genuine, amazing UA-camr, and definitely one of my favourites. I can’t believe anyone could possibly be mean to such a sweet lovely person. I love the bookish family!! “Well-read people are far less likely to be evil” - Lemony Snicket
I think so too & I agree. The things we go through shape us and make us who we are today. I'm pretty sure you're my long lost sister. I swear by it. haha.
It was a really sad time and it's hard for me to really open up about the way I felt during that time in my life. It was a really dark time for me and I hope I never have to relive it.
I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I know it's hard, but hang in there, things will get better. I still have days where I find myself crying, because I miss my grandma a lot. That sounds pathetic, but it's true. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm a message away!
I still get nervous thinking that they'll find it and make things worse for me, but I know if that happens that it'll be okay, because I know that people in this community will have my back and will be there for me.
This video made me a little emotional. My grandma passed away when I was twelve, and I've also had to deal with cancer in my family, bullying and social anxiety. It's so great to see you're doing so much better now, means there's hope for all of us too! Thank you for making this wonderful video. I'd say it's encouraging rather than depressing, since you ended it on a positive note.
This actually made me tear up. I want to go hug every kid who is bullied or who is going through family problems (especially cancer since that is a little close to home for me) also I want to hug you. You're such a beautiful soul!
You're story is touching. I am so glad you shared it with your viewers. I work at a dementia and Alzheimer's nursing home and I know how hard an selfless you have to be to have someone close with it. You are a great person and always have people here on youtube that will be here for you.. :)
omg I'm from Missouri too ! and I can't imagine almost losing your mother to cancer , I award you for being able to talk about it openly with how hard it was for you . you keep being you Jesse . ❤️
wow jesse im so sorry to hear about what happened to you! my mom had cancer too, and i know its really hard but you seem to have overcome it in such a beautiful way!
You are stronger than you know Jesse. Losing your grandma at such a young age, and having all those other problems at once had to be extremely difficult to bear. My grandma passed away this March and I'm 19. I cant imagine how it'd be if I lost her when I was at school and I had all these social and other problems myself. Just remember that you have people around you who love you. Your family and friends. You are funny, full of positivity and loved by the Booktube community Jesse. :)
It's pretty amazing that you've shared these hardships of yours with so many people. It's pretty apparent that you're a resilient individual, seeing as how positive you seem to be about things. As for insecurities about bullying, I totally understand that. I was bullied in middle school, and as a high school student fairly close to graduating, I still feel some of the insecurities that come with that as well; and, like you, I turned to books as a source of escape and happiness. You're amazing for having pushed through so much and I absolutely love your channel.
I feel for you! My grandmother was one of my best friends and she passed away two weeks after my great grandmother passed. I too pulled away from people who I considered best friends. I love your videos!
I never knew that my favorite booktuber had gone through a lot. you inspire me. The thing is that even after you have faced such hardships you are such an amazing person whose energy and positivity is contagious. Wish you all the happiness.
Jesse I just wanted say that you are so strong! My mom went through the same thing and reading really did get me out of that pit of darkness. You are such an inspiration to me!!
Dude. Thats the most honest video somebody has put up regarding their life. I'm truly a fan of you now and I can see that you are a truly honest personality. Will continue to be a loyal subscriber :)
I love how throughout all these bad experiences, you always found a way to stay strong and be as positive as you can. You look so happy in your videos now, I'm so glad I found your channel. You've been such a positive impact on me, thank you for all that you do! Will always love your videos
I came from the future, and looking at how successful Jesse is, and how happy he is, I can't even believe this is his past. We will support you, Jesse! You are a great UA-camr.
Wow, Jesse you are such an incredible person and I'm so glad that you are happy with your life now! I love your videos and I wish you the best of luck in whatever you do.
I love draw your life videos and I think it takes a lot of bravery to make and post them. Your kindness and compassion is really apparent in your videos as well as the comments I see you making on other people's videos. I know how dealing with the death of loved ones is something that really changes a person in a very deep way. You are very creative, I love your channel and I think daily vlogging really suits you! Great video.
I just want to applaud this. Way too many people are pretending to be perfect on social media which really makes many people insecure because they compare themselves to the pictures on Instagram, for example. To actually share your experiences in such a way would require courage. Also, you seem happy despite everything, which shows strength so just keep going forward and do what you love to do. I'm sure you will attain all your goals and live an amazing life :)
I know this was so long ago that you did this video but I’m so happy to hear that you guys were able to stick together (after some bumps) and that you’re mom is a survivor. So much love to you and your family ❤️
It's so hard to believe that the person we see behind camera, smiling, has so many insecurities. But, you're very strong, Jesse and a beautiful person. We're always there for you. XOXO
You're a very brave person for just sharing what you've been through! I agree all you need are you family to help you deal with everything going. Im glad you dealt with the issues at school by just minding yourself and your family and discovered the world of books throughout out that all that. Now you have friends all over the world and you're loved for just being yourself by loads of ppl including me ily! Keep going forward and never look back!
You're truly an inspiration Jesse and you doing this video just shows how much stronger you are now, being able to share this with us. Whatever the future holds, you'll be fine and you'll always have us, your subscribers and friends. Keep doing great videos (:
Just watched that video... It was beautiful. Brought some tears to my eyes but beautiful:') u seem like a great guy. We all have tough experiences, but we get through them. That's just life :) my grandpa died when I was young, but back then emotions didn't come to me as easily as they do now. I still love him this moment , though. My dad had a minor brain tumor too, but it was removed and dealt with. He is now a happy man, deth* in one ear, but happy. "Don't cry because its over, smile because it happened" :)
Jesse you are an amazing, beautiful, hilarious and inspiring human being. Screw the bullies, they probably had insecurities and issues that they didn't know how to deal with so they projected it on you. Because I know there is no possible way any human in his/her right mind that could want to hurt you.
I can feel the tears coming by the way my nose is getting all tingly. Watching your video Jesse proves everyone has a story, and even though the ink pen my be full and bright it's not the ink, but what you do with it that matters.
Jesse we're always here for you and we'll forever be fans of your incredible videos and overall personality. It looks like you've been through a lot but you're strong and everyone can see that. Thank you for making such amazing videos and acknowledging your viewers.
Amazing video Jesse! This may have been difficult for you to make, but I'm glad that you did! I'm really sorry about the jerks that bullied you. That has always been one thing that has just made my blood boil is when I see people pick on people. Just know that you are such a great, positive, caring, smart, and attractive guy and they all SUCK!!
The booktube community has definitely helped me through a lot of rough times.

Yea!
Maybe that's how they become the best..
I actually think a lot of people have sad stories, only not all of them are youtubers, so of course when some great youtubers share theirs, it seems like they all have sad stories...

it's definitely a hard thing to go through, but that feeling once you know that person beat cancer. I swear, there is no other feeling like that.
That's how I got through my bullying too. I went to books. They took to me to somewhere else

Even though I'm writing this years later, I just want to say that I'm sorry for your loss ❤️
I’m so sorry for your loss.
I'm happy. I'm living a very positive and uplifting life right now. It feels good.
I think the things I've been through have really opened my eyes and showed me that you can't waste your days being down, you have to keep your head up and hang in there. I still have my bad days, but I try my hardest to keep shining positivity.

She's doing a lot better. It's been a few years now since she beat it and she goes for check ups every few months. Thanks.
It was a really sad time and it's hard for me to really open up about the way I felt during that time in my life. It was a really dark time for me and I hope I never have to relive it.
jessethereader your draw your life video make me cry. I am so sorry.
Yeah, I figure people think of me as outgoing, but that's not the case. Thanks for the kind words.
Thanks, Chris. You're so kind.
I may or may not have started crying during this video.
