Need to put Relief cuts in the wood. Not only will it let the wood bend easily to the roof but it will also give the plx3 more to grab to. Cut it both ways like a grid just about half way through the back side of the wood.
@@therandomrobert1842 I do a grid like 2inches apart from each other. Both ways up and down and across. I also done my roof in 2x4s then put plywood over it. 162 dB no windshield flex at all.

Hey jacob, i know this is an older video, but i have a 1999 expedition and im wondering how did you combat with the weight being an issue on any of your big builds. I have 2 sundown zv6 18s and a 160ah headway and 2 big deaf bonce amps and some other stuff and the rear of my expedition is already squatting pretty bad and i haven't even started my roof yet. I have sound deadner on it but thats it. Any help is appreciated from you or anyone that sees this coment. Thanks for the awesome videos jacob. You have helped me out on many many things that i didnt know.
I wouldn't do spray foam unless last resort personally as it won't help much for the roof for flex but to hold it up and seal areas. Goodluck Man and thanks for watching.
@@Basshead304 go custom box and maybe amp too you’ll notice a big difference find the specs on the sub and recommended cf and port size and find a box builder online watch a couple videos on boxes n you’ll be set
Won’t that suck in your roof ? You where probably better off putting some kurf lines on the wood before adding it to the roof. I’m Just not sure if that will put to much pressure on the wood and roof. Good luck!!
Bondo body filler works great as an adhesive when placing it up
I really think your getting somewhere with every little thing you do Jacob.
Love this I have been looking for a video like this.. wanna start buying n my build soon wasn't sure how to start mine
I always use adhesive spray no matter what brand dynamat it works nice video peace & bass
Thanks 82!
Dude awesome...nice to see you just dive in...i need to get this on my durango.
Nice. Can't wait to see how much difference it Maks on bass

Great idea for people yes thank you!
So cut part ways through the back side like what 2-3 cuts I’m thinking about doing this because of my violent roof flex

Never worried about weight to be honest just lost miles per gallon lol. I never went over 1200pounds extra so didn’t ever stress it.
I'm going to try to use panel bond see how well that works
Dyno mat looks hard remove on a clean surface let’s hope it sticks Jacob
At home Depot right now wish I knew what kind of glue do you use for roof, glue to metal
PLX8, vid here shows it: ua-cam.com/video/y9Ke_0VI0mg/v-deo.html&t=
Did you have any issues with condensation
Yes when the seals leaked it can be a problem
Jacob, be sure you clean the metal really good with alcohol before you glue your panels
Thanks!
Starting to do my wood roof does adding to all areas and spray foam make a difference?
I wouldn't do spray foam unless last resort personally as it won't help much for the roof for flex but to hold it up and seal areas. Goodluck Man and thanks for watching.
Don't hate on me for this question, if I turn my hatch into a box around my prefabricated boxes would it make a difference
It can yes especially if leaking and flex issues. It’s like more structural support. Could help or hurt rise as well and tuning.
@@JacobViral2 my boxes came tuned already 45-60hz the amp is built into the boxes

Put the wood up and use pencil lines on the wood where you want the caulk since you can't put it on the roof first
Dry fit the wood and draw some lines
Too late but great idea for others thank you!

It’ll keep it from flexing as bad is the goal and won’t be an issue with slight variation.
Damnn jacob you go yourself quite the following in the comments haha
What type of wood are u using
Birch plywood 1/2” and 3/4”
What type of glue hes using ??????
I used PLX3 amzn.to/3K5qt9g
Fido give me a noise!!!!
It wouldve been easier to kerf it that's what I did to mine
So I did this last night in my would did not stick to the roof
Wood
You have to keep a brace to hold it up at all times.
