Two world titles dont do justice to this man... fact.
I agree
He deserved more that for sure
Now he has 3 along with two 24hr Le Man wins in one year, 24hrs of Daytona and 6hrs of Spa
King Heidfeld he was robbed two championships, 2010 & 2012. FACT
Engineer 314 he was close but nowhere near robbed bro...
This - THIS - is how you race. And it's why Alonso is my favorite F1 driver; he didn't force Schumacher off the track, he didn't go for a gap that wasn't there, and he didn't make any rash decisions. Instead, he bided his time, and when the opportunity presented itself, he went for it. Here's to a better half of the 2016 season and a promising 2017 season for Fernando!
Nobody:
Verstappen: *taking notes*
I mean, those were different cars with different driving techniques. Certainly hard to compare it to now
@@WarpDoomer no that is called clean racing, look at Kimi or Alonso. Now other drivers push each other and wait if FIA will fine them or not.
That last sentence aged like milk :/
Literally
Imagine Michael finally gaining consciousness this year and seeing Alonso still killing it.
He would be more concerned about his son getting kicked out of F1 than Alonso vibing in with the podiums in that Aston Martin
he wouldnt even know his son had already reached f1@@DooM_-_gAmeR_-_
@@DooM_-_gAmeR_-_ I'm not sure about that. I think he would see that his son GOT to drive an f1 car, which is already a big accomplishment that would make him proud

What an AMAZING race, one of the best F1 races I've ever seen. I have a lot of good memories from this move by Fernando... I was 7 and I was screaming so much when he overtook Michael. It was such a shame seeing Alonso out because of that wheel...
jajaja sooy subb saludoos!
estoy de acuerdo contigo! Una carrera increíble. Esas carreras me traen recuerdos de mi infancia que me ponía a llorar cuando no ganaba Alonso. Pd: soy sub 😆
Would've loved if you said overtooked the michael :p
Heyy Efeuno.
Ese efeuno comentando! jajajajaja, totalmente de acuerdo contigo. Tio me acabo de dar cuenta de que somos de la misma edad xD jajaja
damn alonso really had a unique aggressive driving style back then. u can see how he moves his steering wheel. unfortunately he cant do it anymore in the current era otherwise he'll screw up his tyres. hope mclaren will be a championship contender next year cus he definitely deserves another title more than anyone on the grid.
Victor Mhd His unique driving style was mostly due to the fact that the Renault cars (specifically the ones he won his championships in) were notoriously difficult to drive. He had to change his style to suit the car more. His style was even called "ugly but effective"
Rotten Apple I had the opposite thinking of that.
For me, it looks like the renault drives itself. The traction control and downforce of that car looks pretty insane. So I think his aggressive style only works because the car is so good all around.
@@LuisKachan Glad to see I`m not the only that though so!
@@LuisKachan a little late to comment but here's the explanation.... Both the R25 and R26 had unusual weight distribution and massive structural stiffness at the rear which made the car difficult to drive. This distribution also made it easy to lose control of the car and spin out. Plus, It would tend to understeer, the lightly-loaded front tyres took longer to load up than a conventional car that was front loaded. But once loaded up, they could generate more grip for a given level of load. to speed up the slow-building of the front tyres grip into slow corners, Alonso would essentially throw the car into the curve as aggressively as he could. Alonso figured this out as a way to cope with an understeery car but it wasn't his natural driving style. Its why Giancarlo struggled because he couldn't get the car loaded up quickly so it was later on power.
@@rumblefish9 it also made it an awesome car, he had way more grip than Michael in this race, either from the car or the tyres, but a far superior package in this situation. Wont take anything away from him though, hes an incredible driver.
That pass on the outside, what a driver Alonso is. Pure talent, true legend.
classic onboard ??
should be called: Legend onboard !
No DRS, (no KERS), great drivers, great sound and no Safety Car starts in the rain ... THAT'S F1
better have TC on a 19 000 rpm v10 than a 12 000 rpm revving V6 with a silencer and safety cars
+Googol That was a v8
O Shellayy of course - i should've put more emphasis on the "better" part of my point ;)
+Googol I understand though. I went to spa last year and the gp2/3 cars sound fantastic but the f1 cars are so quiet. It's pathetic.
O Shellayy i can't believe FIA allowed Toto Wolf to corrupt the sport so much
Phenomenal the way Schumacher who clearly had zero grip was placing the car.
The front end of that ferrari clearly almost lost traction several times...
@@ravileejones7381 Yes, but, when you're one of the best drivers F1 has seen everything gets downplayed.
I was watching the race live and, when i saw Alonso changing tyres AND adjusting the front wing, it was clear who will be the winner, as Schumacher was completely out of grip
@@miguelangelparra5429 People don't realise the Ferrari that Michael was driving in 2006 was out of its depth in terms of balance and aero changes thanks to forced regulation changes in 2005. How he managed to get that car to compete for the championship was sheer skill.
Clearly people here dont realise that this video shows is brilliance of Michael and way of defending and positioning the car. Ferrari was here a sitting duck, Michelin tyres were class of their own especially in wet weather back then. Basically Michael stood zero to none chances here.
Back when F1 races didn't start behind the safety car.
exactly... back when their screaming engines would straighten our body hair
the best drivers in the world must be start behind the safety-car ! This is unbelievable ! Bulild a roof over the track ! The next race start at wet I don`t watch that !
back when f1 cars had traction control
+sauldulaiii No
Yes. Yes they did.
Alonso the only one that remembers me of the old glory of F1 with epic fights and distilled ingenuity. He is the heir of Senna/Piquet, Prost/Mansell combined. And what he is doing right now at Aston Martin is his cherry top ending. What a legacy!
Thinking about two things while watching.
-F1 Championship Edition is a really stunning game, even ten years later!
-The Gp of Hungary 2006 was one of the best races in the 2000s
Could watch this for hours...
Except that stupid gear shifts on early f1 games.

He's a vegetable mate. He isn't going to die unless they choose to.
+flyhighpizzapie and you're a horrible person mate.
Mr.G95 What? I hope Schumi survives and is back to normal but the "Keep fighting Michael" is completely outdated now. He's not in a life threatening condition now so he has nothing to fight against. All they can do now is keep him alive in the state he's in.
flyhighpizzapie
He can still mentally fight, even if his body isn't currently in a state to. Throughout his motor racing career he was relentless, he never gave up in any race and I doubt he will give up in this fight either. And showing support with that message is the least anybody can do, even if you have given up hope many and himself have not.
Schumi is really vegetable lol.
Those engine sounds are magical, they don't do em like they used to anymore
Wow very nice.. This is racing! Shumi Defending his position with all he's got, closing every gap.. And Alonso trying every trick he knows to get past

wait f1 cars can actually race in the wet? /s
yes they do they always have and always will this is F1
traction control back in 2006
Nope. In Silverstone the safety car made the field dry out the track until it was down to intermediates conditions. Because a really wet track is not deemed safe anymore.
Yeah, F1 racing is better in the wet :) Well you seem more overtakes etc I mean :D
+Cloxxki maybe because Jules Bianchi accident. It was FIA fault, but FIA said that was rain's fault
I was able to see alonso racing in F1 and next year I will be able to watch his young driver son Alonso Junior in F1. What a time to be alive!
rain master as always, fernaaando alooooonso, better than anyone in rain
What about Schumi?!
+Snipe0Rain i prefer alonso and i think that he's better
What about Senna!?
+Nil Cortines Alonso, senna, Schumi, and button are the best wet drivers in my opinion
+Snipe0Rain rubens was a great driver in wet conditions. I don't know if u remember, but when Senna jumped 5th to 1st in the very first lap, Barrichello jumped 12th to 3rd! But he had to retire unhappily.
Uau! Alonso is one of the best drivers of all time. Winning or not, no matter what the car, it's always a pleasure to see him drive!
It was a great car, yes. But Alonso did with Fisichella just the same one or two laps before, which proves that he was so much quicker than everybody in this race, he had something special in these conditions, thanks to the understeer and the way he makes open lines in every turn I think. In my opinion he should have won this one, after Valencia 2012 it would have been the best one... It´s also a pity because when you say Hungary 2006 seems like everybody remembers that fabulous victory of Button, but not many people remember this outstading overtake to Schumi round the outside! Amazing show!
He pulled a 52 seconds gap to Kimi, It would have been his best victory
It’s October 2022 and I’d still take Fernando over any other driver on the grid. He can maximize any car he drives while the other guys on the grid seem to always need to best car, suited to them, to get the best results.
Fernando Alonso is the best F1 driver now
Hai proprio ragione... peccato sia "castrato" a causa della sua monoposto... se fossero tutte uguali come molti anni fa, allora si che sarebbe una che fa la differenza...
+Sono Kris molti anni fa uguali? Mai state uguali.
+Sono Kris bravo Kris sei il primo che e d'accordo con me adesso quasi tutti dicono che Alonso fa schifo io tifo lui e nessuno capisce che oggi sono le monoposto che fanno vincere e purtroppo non il pilota

Those first laps from Alonso were the best display of driving I've ever seen
Fernando going offline to find the grip, michael savagely blocking, great clip.
El mejor piloto de todos los tiempos sin ninguna duda, F.Alonso.
Con permiso de Ayrton Senna por supuesto 😉
That sound..
The track is proper wet and alonso is ready to leave the racing line, go to the outside of the track and accelerate hard to create a new line to close up to schumacher without even thinking of the risk of spinning off the track. That incredible car control and grit is one of the reasons fernando alonso is one of the GOATs.

Can't believe a lot of people don't appreciate this man..
Imagine dethroning a 5 in a row world champ with a second best car in just your 4th year in F1 and repeating it again next year...Unreal..!
Also not that Fernando used Michellin tyres and Michel used Bridgestone, in wet weather Bridgestone stood no chance against Michellin.

Nope. Schumi forces it and Alonso slows down. I see no penalty here
Lel, you're too serious here mate. Schumacher just defended it very well by the way. No reason for a penalty indeed.
This shows AGAIN, how incredible Michael Schumacher is... He's clearly struggling with the car, looks like he has no grip and he's doing his best. Great race for both!
It's so cool to see a driving style that is so obviously different to others.

This 2 minute clip was more entertaining/exciting to watch than anything current F1 has delivered in the last couple of years.
F1 needs to understand the obvious...it's not all about being micro-seconds quicker, it's about competition among the drivers, and giving them the ability to demonstrate their skills.
Man this race Alonso deserved to win that race... And he was pulling fantastic overtake after another... Until he had a lung nut broke loose and retired
To me Jenson deserved it after all he started 14th
Alonso started 15th, even lower
but in the best car of the season

Alonso had the better car, Jenson didn't, you tell me, the champ who could have won it of it was dry, or the Brit who couldn't have won it if it was dry, who deserved it more then
Round the outside in the wet on the dirt and rubber, pretty skilled champ.
0:52 schumacher knew alonso was going X him, and defended well. nice move

Who's here after Alonso-Hamilton battle at hungary?
Formula 1 UA-cam has really upped the content quality this season. I hope this continues. The videos here are a lot more enjoyable than all the Formula 1 -related programs aired on TV aside from the GPs themselves.
as a schumi fan, i came here when i miss these days.
In all time history of f1 I hate shumi most
Why?
Nunca le ha temblado el pulso a este hombre en lluvia.
Amazing 🤩 Shumacher ❤ Alonso two bigger drivers of the history 🏎️🏎️
Impresionante como conduce Alonso y encima en piso mojado. Un extraordinario piloto!!!!!!
When F1 was F1, just amazing, I miss those battles between Schumi and Alonso
Is it really possible to catch a wild rain master in his natural habitat?
Yes, when you have Michelin tires, which had more performance in rain that days.
Fernando Michelin tyres in wet conditions were whole another level compared to Bridgestone Michael had.
not really... Senna was one lap ahead
It was clear that Schumi was struggling with grip while Alonso was not even doing correction moves on the steering wheel.
@@venominjected sure both tires had + - so stop crying
Whoever thinks Alonso isn't the best driver on the grid today after watching this, one of many examples of his skill, should have their head examined.
What a grt move by Alonso. Going to the outside of your opponent and then overtaking him that too in wet conditions is not an easy task
Alonso King
That is the racing I like, leaving the other driver not enough space to pass but not pushing him out of the circuit
That Renaults pace tho
op
+vebavid Shame they suck this season
They suck every season... except 2005 and 2006
It was the Michelin tyre in this condition that excelled over the bridgestone. That's where this pace is coming from..... they also had factory tyre teams Renault (M) /Ferrari (B) with optimized suspensions for their respective tyres.
Alonso´s pace *
thats the reason i liked to watch formula 1 till 2017 or so..
What a great battle, Shumi clearly with no traction but changes all of his lines to block Fernando and still stays ahead in the straight, today's F1 cars can't follow as close as these guys could through the chicanes so don't see this anymore sadly. And check it kids 1 change of direction only so he's planning that ahead of time while reacting to the faster Renault!
I am the biggest Shumi fan but I was rooting for Fernando when he pulled out and winced when he turned in, superb!

What?? The V8 sound is terrible, nothing like the V10s and the V8s were far too weak. Even the new hybrids sounds better than that bee sounding V8 engine!
I prefer this over v6s cuz I don't want to hear a 10,000 rpm vacuum cleaner
I've never liked the sound of the V8s in 2006-2013, indeed the current V6s sounds better.
f1 is not a fucking sound contest

When pure talent is not overridden by machine and technology. These days, the runaway winner is skewed towards the machine than man. I miss this era.
Alonso took the rain-master title from schumacher that day :=)
Schumacher defending like a lion! Now it's heavy cars, hybrid, sensitive tyres, DRS, and name calling on the radio. Maybe one day we can get back to a light car, aero that makes it possible to overtake, and tyres that don't have to be 'managed' to stop them overheating. And even live races not behind a pay wall...

Yep, still just one dislike after an hour you posted :) Hope it stays that way :) I'm not even an Alonso fan but no way would I downvote just because of that. It's quite pathetic really.
I've seen many onboards with alonso, and he has a unique steering technique. He steers very sharply but in the same time he gains so much grip. How?
shades of Donington 1993
I really miss those engines. Sound is immersive and part of the whole deal.
Schumacher vs. Alonso. One of the last REAL Formula One battles. The ones nowadays between those whiny baby boys are just a joke.
I think it's a little too much. Since then , we've still had Kimi - Lewis , Lewis - Felipe , Fernando - Seb , yes , cars got slower , uglier ( imo ) and more unreliable , but there i think 07-10 have been very good seasons , with 2012 also up there as one of the most beautiful seasons in history.
+King Heidfeld wtf? V6s turbo are the fastest f1 car ever! Look at Austrian Gp, the record was broken, Canadian Gp too. Williams said that Bottas reached 379km/h.
Candido Vini00 Didn't refere particulary to this year's cars. Yes , this year cars are quick , but looking back ... since around 2005 cars went backwards in terms of performance as well as tires. Comparing 2005 cars to let's say 2010 and 2014 , it's all downhill. But you are right , from the introduction of the hybrids , cars only got quicker.
+King Heidfeld oh, yes you are right too. 2016 cars are faster
Yeah WILLIAMS SAID! It wasn't officially measured. And also the V10 cars never raced in Baku so who knows what they could have achieved.
2006 was a great season and this clip shows why!
But there are also clips showing that the seasons from 2001-2005 were, but they were not. Nothing against your comment of the season 2006, though.
I get that the years of Ferrari dominance weren't great years for racing but I really enjoyed the '06 title battle between Alonso and Schumi. I don't think Michael had as much of a challenge since Hakkinen in 2000.
Jagdeep Rai Yep since 2001 it was a joyride for Schumacher. 2006 was the first good season after 5 years.
this suddenly recommended after alonso and lewis clashing in 2021

I MISS THIS ENGINE SOUND. YEAAH!
Hate him for his politics and ego but what an intelligent drive...just sat there, assessed and observed Schumi's rear tires and grip level at every corner and didn't attack too much at first to relax Scumi a bit, determined which one he could attack the best and boom, before Schumi could look him in the left rear view..keeps his foot on the accelerator enough with the right grip on the left side..pull a move like that on wets is race craft at the highest level. His Suzuka 130R move on Schumi is also memorable.

And then you realise it's Michael Schumacher
Michellin tyres back than were vastly superior than Bridgestone ESPECIALLY in wet conditions they were class of their own. Michael here basically stood zero to none chance. Blind man can see how much better traction Renault has 8n every corner.
@@flipflop4396 he pulled a similar move on his teammate some laps before and pulled a 52 gap to Kimi both drivers used Michelin, Alonso was simply quicker
@@noobednatherium4082 Im just saying Michellin tyres back than were in league of its own in wet conditions, also had better traction due to its shape. Thats a well known fact.
