Feels like it was 4 Mcbain films the first one, then a sequel to CommuNazis, then a 3rd one mostly Terminator 2 plot and the 4th is McBain retirement or a 20 years later movie.
The stand-up comedy is canonically from the film "McBain: Let's Get Silly" (per the Critic crossover episode where it appears), which would seem to mean 5 films in your scheme.
If McBain had a crossover movie where he teamed up with a couple Marvel characters, today the budget would be $500 million and the box office would be $3 trillion worldwide.
I don't like how the franchise started focusing too much on the comedy starting with the 3rd film, but it was still better than bringing back Mendoza in the last one. Really feels like Hollywood has run out of ideas and trying to bank on Nostalgia, but all they accomplished is ruining a classic vilain by putting him in a movie with a lackluster plot. Just leave the franchise alone already. Next thing you know, I betcha they'll announce a McBain reboot.

The Simpsons needed more McBain clips and less Itchy & Scratchy.
I don't like how the franchise started focusing too much on the comedy starting with the 3rd film, but it was still better than bringing back Mendoza in the last one. Really feels like Hollywood has run out of ideas and trying to bank on Nostalgia, but all they accomplished is ruining a classic vilain by putting him in a movie with a lackluster plot.
Just leave the franchise alone already.
