Besides, the D-Day landing was happening soon, giving the Germans another front they have to take care of. The Germans couldn't deliver the supplies, even if they had taken the Caucasus, there's simply no way they could, the messy roads and geography would make it impossible. Their supply lines were stretched too thin, all Soviets needed to do was to keep on sending men and women to die, until the Germans would run out of ammunition at Stalingrad, then begin a counter-attack, try and guess what happened. Germany could not win a battle against the Soviets, nor the allies, no matter how.
In 1971, ussr helped India defeat China, Pakistan, USA and Jordan at the same time. Even though India hates communism, they were one of the biggest allies in history! But then the ussr fell and India was left with no powerful allies so India decided to make nukes for protection against China and it surprised the whole world by its success then Russia became allies with it cuz they’re old friends and USA also became allies cuz India became the 2nd strongest democracy in the world! 2. Hitler hadn't given his millions of men winter clothing (not entirely Hitler's fault tho, since the German high command thought that they'd be able to take out the Soviet Union within 3 months).
3. Most of the terrain in Eastern Europe was messy, and during rains, it would make any kind of movement difficult, with the exception of air.
4. While the winter claimed many lives, the Soviets had another advantage. Stalin called in his soldiers from the Siberian front, specially trained to fight in the winter, and were more prepared for the harsh weather.
5. Considering the fact that Germany and Italy lost most of their territory in Africa, the increase in resistances in their occupied countries (Poland, Yugoslavia, France etc.), it's no real surprise they lost.
@Árpád Szász I highly doubt that Stalin would just give up despite the declared line 'No foot beyond the Volga (river)', and yea, you would be right that the Soviets held the numerical advantage, often trading it for time. No matter if they had taken Stalingrad, or Leningrad, or which ever city, they can still send in more troops. Besides, the D-Day landing was happening soon, giving the Germans another front they have to take care of.
The Germans couldn't deliver the supplies, even if they had taken the Caucasus, there's simply no way they could, the messy roads and geography would make it impossible. Their supply lines were stretched too thin, all Soviets needed to do was to keep on sending men and women to die, until the Germans would run out of ammunition at Stalingrad, then begin a counter-attack, try and guess what happened.
Germany could not win a battle against the Soviets, nor the allies, no matter how.
