What does that even mean? Like the only prerequisite for being a black person is being black and its the only thing all black people have in common so to "not be like other black people" you'd have to be not black which of course defeats the purpose.
Parise Wellington trying to find any sound logic within people’s racism and stereotypes is fruitless. They just want to be racist for the sake of being racist and feeling “superior” 🙄

"He had a rough childhood so now he's racist" Funny, that I and many other people have had shitty things happen to us but miraculously did not have a "racist phase" or turn into nazis. 🤔🥴
@Eberechi Rebecca You're missing nothing. The truth is people like this were always racist and are trying to deflect blame onto traumatic incidents that had no relation. It's so tiring to me and no doubt to the people that are affected by bigotry that trauma is used as an excuse for this behavior.
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that an alarming number of white people think it's normal to go through a racist phase or "slip up" by accidentally using slurs. I was called a liar because I was so confused by this and said I'd never called anyone a racial slur or used one
Speak for yourself. This is a guilty pleasure for me. The worse the movie is the more invested I am. Give me a good movie I will watch but not be too invested. Give me a car wreck and I will be on the edge of my seat splitting my sides laughing. Give me a traumatic experience like cats and I will give you my therapist bill.
This is the movie equivalent of "I'm not really a racist because I dated a black woman once" with a heavy dose of "one of the good ones" propoganda....
I hated the whole: " they had a sad past so their behavior is ok!" No. People dismissing their behavior has allowed them to continue being like this. Most people in this world have had some difficult things in their lives and aren't insufferable jerks.
I'm pretty tired of that excuse cropping up as well, it's enabling. Same goes for people who abuse and whatnot. They had a past, I get it. Anyone's past can be a complete shitshow. But using the age old "well my parents did it so I will too", being stuck in their ways or those who pretend to be 'nice' on the outside shouldn't mean it's OK treating people/family badly. Break the cycle, at least TRY to. There is a serious lack of awareness among other issues in people like that, truly scary at times.
My father lost two siblings before he was 20 and it caused him to become reserved and emotionally stunted. He also used his skills as a policeman to leave us nearly without money, gaslight my mom and bring back her PTSD so he can present her as crazy and gain custody over the youngest daughter in the family. I won't say he's an irredeemable monster because there's... a lot behind his decisions that I can't explain, but I'll never forgive him for pulling that shit on my mom when he could have done it peacefully and like a logical grown up person.
Having a troubled past may be an explanation for shitty behavior, but it's not a justification. If you're a grown adult, then take some damn personal responsibility for yourself and get help. Don't take your troubles out on other people and have the audacity to act like you had no choice because of your upbringing.
"You're just a nice guy" she says after finding out that he kicked a guy who he thought he was kicking to death but he died before he could. So he only kicked a dead guy who he did intend to kill. Apparently equals to being a nice guy

What is with racists and treating POC like they’re telling a 6-year-old to “be the bigger person”?? As if acknowledging someone’s racism out loud is the same as pushing little Timmy when he made fun of your pencil case...
@M.C.Honey Rose You are so spot on. I remember when I was being stalked and harassed by a guy in university, I was basically told to put up with it or leave by the "threat assessment team". When I spoke to my counselor, who specializes in treating women who've been abused, she said, "They know it's easier to silence the woman than to make the abuser change ". I think that logic applies here as well: "We know we can't make the racist change, but the Black woman speaking up about it is making us uncomfortable, so we'd really like her to shut up and stop trying to hold us accountable so we can get on with our lives." It amazes me how all oppression uses the same tactics, whether it be racism or sexism, domestic or systemic
Because a lot of people (i.e. the people who don't have to deal with it every day) don't understand racism and seem to think it's just calling people mean names.
Also, I'm a black women married to a white man in the south and we have been stopped dozens of times by strangers so they can thank us/congratulate us for being together. Like our relationship is for America. *sigh*
This movie def undermines the depth of racism. It’s not just discrimination on outer appearance. It’s systemic and destructive and should never be “quirky” as shown in this film. Wow. And throughout all this mess, he NEVER tried to see things her way or thru her eyes. Just his own selfishness. He better just marry himself cuz that’s all that matters to him.
Also not sure why anyone has to be like “I don’t date X,Y, or Z” when there’s literally attractive people of every race, it’s just weird that people think it’s normal to say an entire race is unattractive/unappealing like ??? Huh
And it's always that they don't like a *race,* not, "I'm not attracted to the common features of certain ethnic groups." And don't even get me started on when the way they describe the disliked features ascribes some idealistic value, like saying that dark skin is masculine. I think that people get so defensive of their 'preferences' because they won't stop and address any of the racial biases we just carry around with us.
While I do think that people shouldn't be pressured into dating minorities just to not seem racist and of course having preferences is fine, it's the whys that annoy me as a minority myself. It's like "oh why don't you like xyz race?" and they'll answer "they're all fat" or something like that. Like, they just marked us all as that one trait they probably saw once in their life. It's one thing to not want to date someone big, it's another to write off an entire race as that. Or (and this can arguably be even worse) when they say "I prefer xyz (minority) race because they really know how to clean and cook." I feel like it's worse when they pretend to like us for who we are when in reality they're again just falling into those stereotypes about us. Especially our women. Like people assuming all Russian women are whores, all Arab women are cooks (and gold diggers), all Asian women clean (and are apparently also gold diggers), etc. etc.
But, so true, I'm kind of disliking the idea of dating American men cause they say dumb stuff in my dms on ig like, "oh i never knew African girls could be cute like this" or "No way I can't believe you're African", the amount of times I heard these sentences makes me want to punch them in the face, it's not a freaking compliment, it's literally telling me you thought my people were ugly.
The writer of this movie was definitely one of those white dudes who used “let’s make racists mad and make beautiful mixed babies” as a pickup line on black women. Whew chilly that was an interesting time 😅

you can produce a movie like this in germany. and let's be honest nazis are a popular topic in german tv shows. and it's not illegal to show the hitler salut or swastikas in something that is supposed to be art or educational. but if you do that in public irl you get arrested.

I'm glad you are asking girls/women to stop asking guys if they like black girls. I freaking cringe so much because it doesn't feel like a question anymore. It feels more like a desperate attempt to get validation from any guy you find attractive and I understand how we got here. However, we need to start self loving ourselves and respecting ourselves (not necessarily in the "pick me" way but more of the " Do not say the n-word around me" way so we're not looking for validation in the wrong places.
Asian men say something very similar. "have you ever been with an Asian man?" At first I thought it was a joke because Everytime it's said, it's almost like they think they are some sorta superhero. But as I kept hearing it, it's about validation. They are basically asking if I can be myself around you or if your ok with Asian culture. Which is sad.
Right! I have never heard any of my friends ask that to anyone, this is all new to me. Didn't know people would ask that question? Although my friend did go through the whole races, and asking me which was my type haha 😂 but she didn't ask about only one race, so that's ok.
Massa? I'm sorry, I dont know what that means, I'm sorry if this comes off as rude but can someone please tell me what this means? Again I'm sorry if this comes off as rude.
I will never understand why the media feels the need to tell us literally everything about racist people ( their backgrounds, family, tragic pasts ) as if that'll somehow make us sympathetic to them.
ok the entire thing about being not like other black girls is literally what I've had to do for years. my parents told me that I couldn't get angry or be loud or screaming cuz then I would be the "angry black girl" but im a teenager. can't I scream with my friends? can't I get angry? it's not my job to make sure other people don't fucking stereotype me, my job is to live my life and survive high school. so yeah I will get mad someone being an asshole, I will get loud and yell because of something im excited about cuz im a person and I have emotions
Absolutely. If you're expressing yourself in a normal, healthy way, no one should be telling you you shouldn't. And if it's unhealthy, that has nothing to do with your race and gender!
Good for you! Be you, and let no one demand otherwise. Strive to be healthy but don't burry yourself or feelings because people can suck. All power to you and I wish you the best
I ended up finally learning where that 4chan meme image of a skinhead wearing a white shirt with a swastika on it and a black girl happily laughing and smiling together comes from. c1.staticflickr.com/4/3264/2602827349_42d266f64b.jpg Apparently it's a 2005 movie with now-A-list actors where the black girl thinks she's the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler. Well, this is an obscure film. As for your situation.... it sure seems to me like your parents are harmfully trying to "help" you by preparing for the "reality" of racist stereotypes, but are instead fulfilling a self-fulfilling prophecy. Do they also give you or any young black males "the talk" and tell you that, if you drive a car as a black person anywhere in America, you are guaranteed to get pulled over for no reason at least weekly and each time have a 50% chance of getting shot by the police even if you have no guns in the car and pull out your driver's license a millisecond too fast, whereas whites can aggressively resist arrest and be let off with a warning? Because "The Talk" is child abuse. Look up Washington Post Fatal Force and see just how rare unarmed black people get fatally shot by police. It's 14 people last year, 2019, that were reported as black... another 14 people were of unknown race, so assuming they are black, that's 28 people. Much rarer than most people think considering that there's 40 million black people. At least half of the white population in America would cheer you on and think that you are a #GirlBoss or a #Queen or a #Kween if you decided to get loud and angry in public, solely because you are black. Meanwhile, any white woman having any legitimate grievance about anything is an oppressive, Nosy Nancy or a Karen who is "tattling" on poor, innocent black people just minding their own business. And I say that as someone who usually is not a fan of white women. Look up the Karlos Dillard "Karen" video which unfortunately is one of those viral videos if you want an indication of how much white women are allowed to express emotion. Usually I don't feel sorry for white women (nor white men) who get called out, but lately they've been used as scapegoats for black people to be jerks.

“ you’re not like other blacks” Me: I don’t know how many times I heard “non-racist” white people (you know they was those “I got black friends” types) say that to me in good ole “diverse “ New York City ... I-🤦🏾♀️
Man, I’m glad I live in an actual diverse place that doesn’t even blink at people being from all kinds of places… maybe partially because we have our own native population and a lot of military, so a lot of families from all over. My brother who is black came to visit and was afraid people would assume bad things because he was in an expensive vehicle… it’s so sad that that’s how it is some places/
I hate that in movies like this, they use the racists characters past to make them seem more human. When the POC characters pasts don’t matter. So many POC have painful pasts as well, but it doesn’t make them hateful bigots
I do have conflict with "humanizing", I honestly don't think racists should be represented as some kind of unidimensional monsters, why? Because later people have racist people in their lives that is nice and treas them well, and does not match the impression they have of someone racist, and then have a difficult time believing that person is indeed racist, let's take Shane Dawson or Jeffree Star as examples of that, people do jump to defend them because they were treated nicely by them, and not one single time non of them have admitted being racist in the past, just saying they did "bad things".
I can not tell you how many times I see black women commenting on tiktok videos from men asking if they like black girls. It is so embarrassing and sad. Please love yourself Queen's and do not seek validation from these random men. You are beautiful and worthy.
Thank you for explicitly calling out how having mixed babies doesn’t solve racism. @@sweep8311 I don't think that there is any push to promote interracial relationships in Hollywood to 'wash away' ethnic groups, but maybe because it sounds really sus when you break it down. I am 100% disgusted that white folks are more comfortable with mixed race people than fully black or dark skinned people, because I know this to be true in my own experience, but I feel like the culprit is colourism and colonialism, rather than a scheme. I think that you should re-evaluate how you came to this mindset or who told you this, because that is an actual nazi talking point, and you deserve better than to internalise that.
@@zinja0830 What does that have to do with what she said? "Mixed race black..." is an oxymoron. You're either black or mixed. And 20% non-black DNA from generations ago doesn't make you mixed. It's also not the same as being directly mixed i.e biracial. And considering that fact that no one would ever say "I'm a mixed white girl.." then...
BlueYellow&Green some people do say mixed race white if they’re white passing. As Donald Glover once said in a stand up special years ago, if someone saw a dude that looked just like Barack Obama break into a car they would say “somebody stop that mixed guy!” Mixed/Multiethnic could mean a variety of combinations. I just clarify for the sake of this discussion the black due to the racism in question being specifically anti-black racism. I wasn’t rejected by some extended family for being “mixed,” I was rejected for being black. Someone can be more than one thing and it not contradict another. When someone has multiple ethnicities they could look a variety of shades within their skin, variety of textures in their hair, and depending where they grow up, they’ll be treated a certain way because of it.
Like she said, this movie was VERY hard to find. Almost like they didn't want it to exist. I didn't know about this, and I am a movie guy familiar with both lead actors.
The effort to bury this movie means that either one of them is ashamed by it. I think that there was something behind the scenes that we dont know about thats the reason they did this movie

@Eberechi Rebecca You're missing nothing. The truth is people like this were always racist and are trying to deflect blame onto traumatic incidents that had no relation. It's so tiring to me and no doubt to the people that are affected by bigotry that trauma is used as an excuse for this behavior.
Trauma is not a buyout for accountability, but an invitation to responsibility.
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that an alarming number of white people think it's normal to go through a racist phase or "slip up" by accidentally using slurs. I was called a liar because I was so confused by this and said I'd never called anyone a racial slur or used one

I hated the whole: " they had a sad past so their behavior is ok!"
No.

Why did this make me luagh 😂😂😂😂😂
Because a lot of people (i.e. the people who don't have to deal with it every day) don't understand racism and seem to think it's just calling people mean names.

And throughout all this mess, he NEVER tried to see things her way or thru her eyes. Just his own selfishness. He better just marry himself cuz that’s all that matters to him.
Thank you blatant propaganda.
I think that people get so defensive of their 'preferences' because they won't stop and address any of the racial biases we just carry around with us.
ikr. personality is more important than looks ://
Right? If you look good you look good! And personality goes a long way
While I do think that people shouldn't be pressured into dating minorities just to not seem racist and of course having preferences is fine, it's the whys that annoy me as a minority myself.

Apparently it's a 2005 movie with now-A-list actors where the black girl thinks she's the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler.

Mixed/Multiethnic could mean a variety of combinations.

Someone has to be real messed in the head to think that two races of the same species shouldn’t interact. Recently saw a guy who said that races shouldn’t mix because they have different “hardware” and then cite that race mixing was why the US was such a mess.
My fucking great grandpa was like that omfg
No literally same with my white grandparents and my Mexican mom
Hitler wasn’t even German though 😭 He was Austrian I believe.
Correct.
Yes he was austrian but Austrians are germans as well not in a literally sense but they are germans and Hitler went to Germany and took over their government controlling the germans from Germany which is why a lot of people get confused of his nationality
Side note: Can we talk about how pretty Kennie’s nails are?
Ohhanahoney right I was like her nails are looking gorgeous!
YES!

The people who gave this movie a good rating are the same people who give awards to the "well as a black man" type posts on reddit
Speak on it!
Can you explain what that means? I'm assuming it's something negative?
@@NamiNuitsuki I think OP means the black people who cosign racist people's opinions or beliefs in an effort to seem like they're not like "other black people". They tend to get support from people online who say "oh see this black person even agrees with my views about black people so it can't be racist"
@@NamiNuitsuki if you look on r/unpopular opinions you'll probably find a couple "black people" talking about their experiences of not being poor or not facing police brutality and equate their experience to the experiences of all black people. Their post will get 20 awards and you'll get conservatives and white people applauding them in the comments while the people saying how their experiences don't represent the whole either get buried or ratioed by the majority who like the post.
Dj the turtle oh! I understand. I’ve seen some posts like that on Reddit before too, but not for black people. It’s usually women who say very anti-feminist things and all the incels come running into the comments praising them and saying they’re “real women”. It sucks that some minorities have been made to think they don’t face very real issues just because they’ve personally never experienced it. And it sucks even more that those conservatives and racists parade them around and act like since one person said it it must be true. And they give them that validation. Or use it to denounce the struggles of the rest.

Ladies, don't confuse asking people if they like Black girls with asking your significant other how their family feels about your Blackness. If they don't like your Blackness you need to leave. It's a safety issue. There are a lot more Sparkle Rai's then you think. If not for your safety, then for the safety of your future kids - being family means nothing to a bigot.
THIS.
YES.
I knew of a white guy who was apparently pretty racist but had a black gf. He cheated on her constantly. They got married, had a kid, and he called his OWN CHILD a "n*glet". For your future children's sake, don't choose to add abusive people into your life.

Right?? It means they've never seen them with another black girl, not even in friendship 😬😬 big yikes
@Sassy Queen exactly this
Right! I don't wanna date them if I suddenly feel the need to ask
Oh, god, referring to black people as "blacks". I was raised saying that, and remembering that makes me cringe with my whole body.
It just sounds so off. Idk how I could ever say "whites" - ~ -
@Darade Faba I was raised in south Louisiana, and before the internet was what it is now (born in 87). I'm ashamed of how long it took me to realize the phrase was dehumanizing, but I was ignorant when I was a kid.
Truth be told, I'm still ignorant about a lot of things, and I occasionally put my foot in my mouth, but I'm trying. Hopefully that counts for something.
any time someone uses the phrase "blacks" (or "gays" for that matter) it sounds so hostile ,, it sends up immediate red flags tbh
My family is Black and they call Black people Blacks and white people whites. I didn't even know that was an issue. Is this a new generation issue now or something. Are we suppose to be offended by that now?

I also feel like it’s perpetuating stereotypes about the “angry black woman,” and because Rachael’s not like that, she’s a more “palatable” black woman which is fucking disgusting 💀
Exactly, like she’s not like other blacks how? Cuz she tolerates ur racism? 🥴
@@jadethirlwall1573 The entire point is that thats the mindset of a racist. They meet one gentle black person, and think “This is just an exception to the rule“, when its not. And every viewer with common sense, is expected to already know that, and just think thats another offensive thing he says.
Wheein Here wait are you defending the film? because it’s one thing to portray racists and their mindset in a realistic way, it’s an entirely other thing to make them the protagonist of the movie where they get the girl they’ve been berating and discriminating the entire time
@@jadethirlwall1573 It's complicated. You go to Disney for simple plot formulas. His character obviously wasn't made to illicit sympathy from the beginning. He wasn't made to be vile by accident. This isn't a simple love story. They're both literally crazy/confused and dont make sense being together. Of course its wrong to get with someone who verbally abuses you. This is a messed up movie.
