Honestly this would have been an amazing gothic horror about a controlling narcissist who's answer to her imminent death is to coerce her husband into transferring to an extension of herself: her twin (who it's implied she had an equally controlling, borderline incestuous toxic relationship with).
THISSSSSSS, OH MY GOD, I HAVE BEEN THINKING OF HOW TO FIX THIS MESS EVER SINCE THE START OF THE VIDEO AND THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SOOOO MUCH BETTER Ok, I'll calm down. And the whole thing seriously NEEDS to be almost completely focused on the psychological aspect of the characters; it needs to be a certain battle of wanting to have your independence as a human being but continuously being disregarded as such to the point you yourself believe you are not worth as your own being. It needs to be a transition from "I'm doing this despite I hate it, *because I have to*" to *"Why* the hell would I have to do this??" and it definitely needs to showcase the pain that the overly controlling wishes of the wife put into their lives. Like, none of them should be happy for doing it and when they start to feel they are "in love" it *needs* to be a conflict like "Am I feeling this because *I* feel it or because *she* told me to?" or something of the sorts, not like whatever the fuck this movie tried to do with the homophobia thing. And I know it's a metaphor that's been done a lot of times with way better themes and that even so the whole plot of this still summarizes as "I'll die: fuck my brother against your wishes, because I say so" no matter how you execute it. But what I'm trying to say is that the concept has a lot of potential if carried out in the right way, and this movie didn't know how to do that at all. Missed opportunity of making an at least decent plot with that.
@@ladykynthos And the cinematography and setting would absolutely have to match, everything in the shadows or filmed really early in the morning, when everything is grey, with either the twins belonging to some disgraced 19th century noble family, and Beau being New Money and the only solution to saving the family’s castle. OR, because of the LGBTQIA angle, it could be neo gothic, set in our century, with the twins having grown in a delapidated mid century modern house, because their dad got arrested due to some ponzi scheme and their mother, a former celebutante, became a shut-in because of the scandal. And Beau is a bright-eyed aspiring politician, that could save the family’s name. Lily, obviously, had to spend her teenage years taking care of her mother and by extension Caden (for reasons) and wanting to marry Beau of to him is just the “natural” progression of that
You know the premise could work if the main female was in a fake marriage with her gay husband and the movie is about her encouraging him to come out and be with his true love, her brother, after she passes
When she said what the premise was for this movie, I paused the video to pitch what she could mean by the wife dying and wanting her husband to be with her brother. This was one of the ideas I thought for how this movie could work xD That or her brother was going through surgery to turn into a girl or the husband wanted the surgery. Something that didn't point to her forcing two guys with no interest in each other to be with each other as her dying wish.

Going to gaslight myself into thinking that the brother is just called her twin because they were born the same day by different people and they're not actually related
I was thinking that they both got adopted the same day and since they joined the family at the same time, they're "twins" Literally anything this comment section makes up makes more sense
I'll bet the writers think this movie is a love letter to the lgbtq+ community when it's really just a love letter to Colleen Hoover. But seeing Kennie lose her mind was the laughter I needed today. Thanks, Kennie!!😊
@@allygator2026 Omg. I'm so happy, that Kennie watches all these movies. I dont want to watch them but I definitely want to know about them. Do they have announced the casting already?

The most disgusting thing about this movie is how quickly this man is supposed to "move on" from his wife, who he clearly loved very much (even though she was fucked up), into another long-term, sexual relationship with a man he's not even completely sure on how feelings or sexuality about. Let the man mourn!
@@blueismylove3128 It should have been a disturbing film. Where at the end the wife had been lying about her death all along and you find out her and her brother do this with men before him.

Kennie: "I'm pretty sure the director has a foot fetish." Me: "Now idk ik being barefoot is very common in these more hotter climat-." Dead girl: "I feel like shoes are prisons for your feet." Me: "Director definitely got a foot fetish."
This is infuriating. Every person I have talked to who has lost a spouse has said the same thing -- that they simultaneously missed their spouse so much, and also felt so incredibly lonely that they understood why some people jump right into another relationship. Grieving a loss like that puts you in such a vulnerable state that could be really easy for someone to take advantage. Especially if you share an emotional bond with the person, like a connection to the loved one you lost.
didn't even watch the movie but from the clips where he gives into the Kaden, call it bad acting but he looked so uncomfortable like a child who was told to do dishes and not complain
They both couldn’t stop thinking about Lilly while they had sex? You’re telling me her own brother was thinking of her while having sex and didn’t see that as a reason to stop?!?
Sometimes I wonder if the reason they cast actors of different ethnic backgrounds in these vaguely inc3sty roles is to assist audiences with the cognitive dissonance of the morality of the situation. “Well obviously they’re not actually related, so this is fine!”
This should be a twisted horror movie of two crazy siblings who get their victims to fall in love with the sister and then manipulate and gaslight their victims into sleeping with the brother and then killing him
I love that one of the ways they chose to make Lily quirky and not like other girls is by having her work in a diner barefoot. Because that's not a safety hazard at all. It feels like Kayden referred to Bo as a Ken doll just because he's white, quite honestly. lol. Also, wtf at Lily's "aspiration" being for her brother and husband to have sex.
@@eggiesammich For real, though! lol. That's what I was thinking about. Well, that and all the germs on that floor with the amount of people who visit a diner in a day.
32:36 "If you pressed on her stomach she could still blow out a candle." just had me crying. You being so incredulous and bewildered that this is a real movie is so hilarious.
Kind of unrelated but your first rant about the "twins" not looking alike got me crying because that is my entire life. Me and my twin sister look NOTHING alike. I'm pale with black really curly hair , brown eyes and covered in freckles and my sister is naturally tanned with blond wavy hair and bright blue eyes. No-one could ever believe that we were twins.
@sewer~rat not really she has full lips and I have very thin ones, her eyes are big and almond shaped and mine small and hooded, plus I'm covered in freckles sooo
@sewer~rat my mother is the oldest of 9 and probably only 3 or 4 of them look like they COULD be siblings. The rest have so many varying features. The range is all over the place but you get that a lot with Hispanic families. 🤷🏻♀️ genetics really can be wild
Cancer survivor here. I normally try to avoid cancer stories, but I just KNEW I had to watch this. It was even worse (The movie, not your commentary) than I thought it would be. Just to clarify when I was going through chemo, I didn't want to be physically intimate with my then-partner, due to me being sick, but there wasn't officially a prohibition. (The doctor basically told me I probably wouldn't feel that sexual, and it turned out to be the last thing on my mind.) I felt slightly guilty in the beginning, but my partner was reasonable about that. When I knew it was some kind of cancer, but not what kind (mine had a very high survivable rate), I did tell him I hoped he would find someone if he died, but never would have pimped out my sibling (or anyone , especially since I was too sick to really think about that stuff). The two main criticisms I have were I thought the husband would have been very early established as bi. They could have EASILY done a flashback where the husband says he is bi when they first meet, and the woman could be like "oh yes, my BEST FRIEND is bi, no biggie". This naturally brings me to my other critique. The brother should have been the best friend instead (He could be "like a brother" easily, especially since they look nothing alike, lol.). I mean the fact that she was trying to get them together, regardless of the family relationship was odd, but if it hadn't been her brother, it would have been maybe semi-conceivable. I have more criticisms, but those are my main ones.
my doctors put place me in medical-menopause. Both it and I was awful. Like from what I remember; I did not like human beings or animals or the weather. Don’t get me wrong I loved people, I love pets ( though I didn’t have them at the time,) and I love good weather... it was just I didn’t LIKE anything at that point; with the exception of walking by myself, sitting by myself, and most of all Sleeping my myself. I just slept through life, had almost no energy. Eventually I had to drop out of uni. I wasn’t doing hard-core chemo I was just taking chemo drugs in order to fight aggressive tumors that were life-threatening but not cancerous which I didn’t know that was a thing, until became I’ll. I was told I had a fake white blood cell disease...like that sounds more like a symptom than a diagnosis. I still don’t touch stories that deal with cancer or deathbed romance. It feels unrealistic and messy and I don’t know... Last thing I wanted while sick was a relationship. I didn’t want anyone to suffer the loss of me. At this point, I just refuse to spend hours watching movies glorifying and romanticizing struggles I’ve personally dealt with. But seriously her review makes me second-guess that decision. 🤣 By the way, glad you’re still here! ♥
OMFG the language rant had me LAUGHING. ok so basically in one singular line in the movie, it is said that apparently the twins made up their own language when they were kids. i think that's what that was🤣
a while before she said that i was already convinced this was originally a one direction or bts wattpad fanfic where the author self inserted themself as the dying girl
The idea of forcing someone to be an orientation that they aren’t, and calling them names because they aren’t that thing, is kind of how we got in this situation with lgbtq+ hate in THE FIRST FREAKING PLACE! Ugh this is upsetting.
What's interesting is they could have easily EASILY made the husband a closeted gay or bisexual man. One comment I saw said something like the husband could have wanted to be with the wife's brother but felt pressured into marrying a woman and she knew this and wanted him to be with someone he loved.
I studied Hindi, Urdu and Arabic in university and hearing them speakin gibberish was a blast cause what I detected was First 'The bullet did not hit' in Hindi Second 'Mom's wish' in Urdu Third 'Tomorrow we'll mourn you' in Arabic
Someone commented that Lily at some point calls it their twin language or something, so it seems like it's supposed to be made up. Which, like Kendall said, is WILD that 1. that wasn't clear and 2. her husband LEARNED it that fast?!
So back in the olden times it was a thing when your wife died to marry her sister. And, like, even one brain cell of critical thought, can show that this arrangement was more about property and lineage than love and thank the lordt we’re in modern times where this isn’t as common. But it feels like the creator of this movie heard the idea of “marrying your wife’s sister when she dies” and thought: What if it was PrEsEnT TiMeS and we have RePrEsEnTaTiOn and it’s …. Horrible. This is horrible. This movie is all bad.
Yeah she read something that was used to mistreat women and the “loophole” used to keep assets in the woman’s family as something that should be continued instead of a relic of the past.
omg u just unlocked a hidden memory i used to see this in movies all the time growing up and assumed it was like a requirement if ur spouse dies bc it never occured to me that they would actually fall in love 😭
The scene where the mystery language is spoken at dinner and the brother smiles and says yes, cracked me up as Kennie's voice rises in hysterical frustration..killed me
My headcanon is that the whole gaslighting of Beau thing was a long planned plot between the siblings. The plan was her finding someone gullible, marry this person and eventually push them towards her brother. The fact that she was dying just provided them with a great opportunity to move their plans forward was, which could explain why Lily uses her impending death as a convincing device to Beau, and why Caden seems so flippant of his sister's death: it was all planned from the beginning. If Lily hadn't died, the siblings would probably abuse Beau into never leaving the house and being their sex slave or something. And yes, I watch way too much Discovery ID.
I had the same conspiracy! They have been planning this/ into it for years and want to overcompensate for the fact that they are twins that don't look alike by uniting through a sexual connection with each others' partners. Maybe incest was just to gross for them and they liken each other's partners to an extension of their love (headcanon: Lily's ex gf was also Kaden's ex). They use their twin-language to discuss their plot covertly and stay on plan. They've probably taught Beau a few of their encouraging phrases so he doesn't feel left out or get suspicious and Beau does not realize every time he speaks their twin language he's only making a fool of himself.
I was thinking this too LMFAO like this was a whole ploy. If I was Beau I woulda been like, "Bitch... do you even have cancer? Are you even dying cause wtf is going on? and why is your brother constantly flirting with me TOO?!" bahaha
This feels like a fic that has to deal with the canon being a married het couple and doesn't wanna seem like they hate the woman by making this whole "she's 100% cool with them getting together and is gone so the gay couple can be together!" Instead of doing a number of much simpler and easier things
Ok, I screamed when I saw the parents: the "twin" is adopted and you cant convince me otherwise. Also, I'm pretty sure, the actors are speaking in tongues.
The acting of this movie feels like im constantly watching a bad porn intro, you know, where every single person on camera is painfully aware of the cameras, yet also trying their damnest to ignore it
damn. all these movies and shows where there’s so much queer chemistry between the characters and they refuse to acknowledge it, and then when we DO get gay representation, zero chemistry in sight 😭
the way that if this was a psychological thriller it would have been good... i mean, if it had been good it would have been good, but ya know what i mean djgdfjg but no for real, there's something to the premise but the execution and the way it's supposed to be a cute romantic comedy--- i'm screaming
This whole movie's plot is giving two bit fujobait where the quirky girl is essentially supposed to be the 'audience stand in'. Also her walking barefoot in a restaurant? Asking to step on a nail or glass or sth
I don't condone being barefoot in a heavy traffic public place, especially somewhere for eating, but why would there be nails on the ground in a restaurant, g? Where you eat at? 😭

every time Kennie says the brothers name it always trips me up because that's my name and I keep on being like oh damn?? my parasocial relationship with her is real now?? oh fun love that
i'm fully convinced he said he was fluent in a language on his resume that he in actuality does not know and nobody bothered to check if he actually knew it
Again thank you for taking my recommendation To top this all off, the pants that beau wears in the hospital scene are khaki but when they get back to the house, they somehow are now shorts Also this movie is probably the first time I’ve felt bad for a successful white man
If they're twins they might be trying for cryptophasia (when twins make up a language between themselves), but it seems weird not to address that's what it is within the movie itself.
i never thought that ppl who made media cared that much about reviews from non professional critics either but i did once see a tiktok about an author who got P.I. to find the address of a woman who reviewed her book negatively and went to her house and left a copy of the book on her doorstep so the fact that the film makers watched your video is not much of a surprise

I feel like if it's wrong to coerce someone who is gay into being straight, it's wrong to coerce someone straight into being gay. A person's sexuality should be for that individual to figure out and experiment with if they want to
You don't understand how much I needed this after the week I've had, I'm doing my first year at uni and I do happen to be living off coffee and antidepressants
This movie makes me not want to be in a relationship at all because if love is going to be forceful, lack of respect for my boundaries, my so treats me like an object that should always say yes when it's beneficial for him, Y'ALL CAN KEEP THAT!🚪🏃💨
That women was a sociopath and probably couldn’t stand the idea of Bo moving on with a new woman. So she rather convince him to believe he was gay and end up with her brother. (Rather than another woman I guess) so I guess she saw him a a “property” or a car..
As someone who went through a stage three cancer diagnosis I can confirm my oncologist advised against any sexy time and wanted me to focus on my treatment and recovery 💕 he had nothing to worry about cause I wasn’t and haven’t 🤣 her complaining of dying none stop sent me 😂
I love how the husband is considered in the wrong because he doesn’t move on from his recently deceased wife to hook up with his brother in law/her twin like possible internalized homophobia/biphobia aside, no one who read the script thought “this is weird how about no?”
I've been staring hard at the couple trying to see if they look more alike than the actual siblings. And then I realized that Lilly looks like that girl from The Kissing Booth.
12:26 I watched the movie right before this. In the beginning where they were talking about things that may surprise them and she mentioned her “twin”, she said they were so close growing up they made their own language. So I assumed any time something was said like that was the fake language (later on picked up by the husband during dinner to show the brother and him getting closer)
12:39 Girlllll I think they were trying to imply their “twin language” 🤣🤣🤣 twins tend to develop their own language when their young and can retain it into adulthood. That may be what they tried to do but they should have had those characters provide context🤣🤣🤣 Edit: cryptophasia may be what their hinting at. Thanks Wikipedia.
I don't know if this is the right or left way to be offended, but why does it feel icky for her to basically go "My cancer makes me sooo boring go find someone else" as if there's nothing to a relationship with person with cancer, like no grieving your feelings, love who? What is a relationship with this husk of a person anyway. Idk how to explain it but I don't like it e.e

This feels like a straight woman’s weird fantasy of having her husband find love with her gay brother so that her husband never has to move on with another woman, therefore keeping her spot as the #1 woman in his world and his life after her death will still heavily revolve around her through her family. Perhaps it’s far-fetched, but I interpret the underlying themes to reek of insecurity. It reminds me of how much of yaoi is catered to straight women, partially because insecure women don’t want to read straight manga that projects high/unreachable standards back to the reader. So women who don’t feel confident enough to read that content without feeling badly about themselves will read gay romance to alleviate that pressure, but then still project feminine attributes onto the more “feminine” man. Anyway, it’s okay to be insecure but not okay to fetishize or use gay men for an agenda.
I thought of an alternate nuance for this movie where Lilly and Caden's ex-girlfriend were best friends back in middle and high school. They were obsessed with the *worst* parts of yaoi/BL novels; they made equally questionable fanfics together on "Whattfpad" (this movie can't afford the actual name). Caden, whose sexuality was open but in favor of guys, always wanted to experience love with a male partner. He and his ex had an open relationship, but no guy stook. All of his hopes for m/m love came from Lilly, so they were absolutely toxic. This led to him being unhappy and breaking up with his ex. By the time Lilly was married and dying, the fujoshi in her couldn't help but want to create a real-life otp before she goes. She gets Caden's ex's help because she's just as bad. So, Caden is also gaslit into thinking that his and Beau's relationship will fulfill his heart's true wishes. Now, we have two men faking their fantasy, love story instead of grieving their real circumstances.
Honestly if this film was just about a guy realizing that he's got more chemistry with his spouse's brother, it wouldn't be as bad. Weird for sure, but not as bad. Why did they have to throw in the cancer and the coercive bullshit?? At least have Beau express some interest in the man, make it clear that this isn't him being harassed and guilt-tripped. If my own brother was dying and he told me he wanted me to fuck his wife i would tell the doctors to change the meds they're giving him

This feels more like a psychological horror film than a bittersweet romance film.
The most disgusting thing about this movie is how quickly this man is supposed to "move on" from his wife, who he clearly loved very much (even though she was fucked up), into another long-term, sexual relationship with a man he's not even completely sure on how feelings or sexuality about.
I'm convinced this woman is just trying to make her otp real before she dies 💀

They both couldn’t stop thinking about Lilly while they had sex? You’re telling me her own brother was thinking of her while having sex and didn’t see that as a reason to stop?!?
Sometimes I wonder if the reason they cast actors of different ethnic backgrounds in these vaguely inc3sty roles is to assist audiences with the cognitive dissonance of the morality of the situation. “Well obviously they’re not actually related, so this is fine!”
Probably lol
So just like p*rn
This should be a twisted horror movie of two crazy siblings who get their victims to fall in love with the sister and then manipulate and gaslight their victims into sleeping with the brother and then killing him
I love that one of the ways they chose to make Lily quirky and not like other girls is by having her work in a diner barefoot. Because that's not a safety hazard at all.

But Caden doesnt even look like either of his parents. Is that the same for you (or your twin)?
No. The issue is that Lily tells beau that she has an identical twin. She says that.

I’m so glad r a survivor 💪🏼 ❤
Glad you made it. God bless ❤
my doctors put place me in medical-menopause. 🤣
By the way, glad you’re still here! ♥

Couldn't agree more.
omg u just unlocked a hidden memory i used to see this in movies all the time growing up and assumed it was like a requirement if ur spouse dies bc it never occured to me that they would actually fall in love 😭
This is a Jewish tradition
This would have made a better movie.
This is way better than the movie 😂
Why is your head cannon so dark 😢
