Stihl 08S chainsaw Carb Rebuild

- During last weeks work on the fallen trees, I discovered that my Chainsaw, a virtually antique Stihl 08S, would not start. Here is what I had to go through to get it fixed! Thanks to "the Repair Specialist" whose video taught me how to do it right!

@@philhermetic I just bought an 08s asn have been discovering its strength, you can watch my first clip in my channel. I love this saw so much. I will upload lots of videos about it in the future. I have been watching a lot of clips about this model to really understand and use it well.
@@nguyenngocducha even though they were first sold in the 1960s they are still respected as being a very good saw. we have some land with many ash trees, and Elder trees, so there is always fallen branches and trees to clear up after wind storms.. Good luck with it all!

Надо обращаться внимание на герметичность крышки со штуцером, под которой стоит сеточка и пробковая прокладка. Иногда, со временем она увеличивается в диаметре и прижать прокладку практически невозможно. Идёт подсос воздуха и на холодную пила заводится а после прогрева начинает капризничать.
Привет, Арис. Я считаю, что если вы замените пробку неопреновой прокладкой, она будет работать намного лучше, спасибо за комментарий!

Thank you! Just rebuilt my 08s carb with the tillotson kit, great diagram and notes came with. This vid helped a lot.
glad you got something out of it, because it was not planned, it just happened that I needed the saw that week, and it wouldn't run right, so I got the kit and rebuilt the carb, and now it is one of my most popular vids! Thanks for commenting!

Finally, a decent 08s video in English. Cheers Phil. I inherited an 08s which I had serviced by my local Horace Fuller. Just felled 5 Leilandii with it and it’s stopped oiling the bar. Did all the usual stuff like scraping the bar channel clean, and clearing its oil holes but testing the power head without the bar and chain, no oil is coming out of the oilers holes. I’ve blown both the oil lines clean. I think it may be the oil pump which I’ve removed and inspected. Is there any way to test the oil pump off the saw? I was thinking about turning it over with a drill to see if it pumps anything
Yes, I think thats the way to go, looong time since I did my oil pump, blow through the pickup lines as well, thanks for watching!

Can I install a new model stihl 08 49mm cylinder to an old model stihl 08 chainsaw with a 47mm cylinder?
In short, is the 49 mm cylinder compatible with the first generation chainsaws?

How did you set the lL and H screw?
I think it is in the vid, but as I remember it L is screwed right in, then out 1 1/2 turns, and H is right in ,then screwed out 1 turn, that is the first start setting, once the saw is warmed up you set them again to get the best tickover and performance, Check o0n "the repair specialists" videp for confirmation, thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed and learned at the same time!
