- In today's vlog, I go and take a look at a brand new traditional Thai Home complex, all available for rental. The property is located in Saraphi, about 20 minutes south of Chiang Mai. Shows that the Thai Ancestors are really the wisest when it comes to house design as these houses are the only ones that are truly flood proof n most suitable for the Thai Climate .. 😎😎🙏🙏
That's right Rudd, these houses would reduce flood damage. I guess the kitchen and bathroom could get flooded but most possessions would be upstairs.

Notice that all the electrical connections are located high up ..
Of cos they can be easily re-wired higher too if desired, important thing is not to let the water get into them ..
What you have on the ground floor are items that are not easily damage by water n other minor stuff that you can afford to write off with the fridge being on 2F

Love the indoor/outdoor feel and all the wood throughout. Feels very natural. I'd install a ceiling fan downstairs. $215/mo seems a great deal. - WW

These are nice properties that appear to be well-made and have a lot of character, but I wouldn't recommend them for foreigners. The showpiece is the downstairs living area that lacks privacy and will almost certainly become very noisy once surrounded by Thais. A lack of Thai communication skills will make it even more challenging.
As a temporary stay they could be cool but long-term I'd personally opt for somewhere else.
Yes, that could be a problem. The propertys are very close to one another. Language would be harder out of town also but you could still get by. Thanks.
That's an absolute gem mate! I would a 100% rent one if I stayed in a condo. Get a freezer/fridge, bbq for downstairs and your set. Go for one Wayne. So lovely quiet once the builders have gone tho. Waking up at 6 am by drills and god knows what, you wont be to happy I guess. 7 more cold weekscto go. Counting days! :) Thanx Wayne

Nice tour Wayne, I lived in a similar design a few years back. It was good for the cooler months but perhaps a bit too warm in the hot season. I also think they could knock at least 1k off that price. I'm heading your way in a few weeks, we'll have to get together for a cuppa if you are around. Cheers mate 👍🏻

I love those traditional Thai homes. They are pretty much the same up Kanchanaburi way where I have stayed before on the wife's family farm in the past. Very nice and an absolute steal at around AUD300.00 (Aussie) a month When you moving in Wayne? 🤩

I love the traditional Thai style places Wayne. The one bedroom place looks great. Noise from neighbours may be an issue. It's in a great location near shops and the market. A fair way from the old city if you don't have transport. I guess the yellow or white songthaews provide a cheap ride into town. I have a banana tree in my backyard and it only has one green leaf. Pitiful!
It's a nice place Doug, great for single person or couple. Yes, the neighbours could be an issue, bit close. It's also just enough out the city i think. I would be over the moon with a banana tree. Thanks mate.

Wow, that would be a BIG challenge Julie. I could find rooms here for 1000. They wouldn't be very nice but it's possible.
I second this idea. But wayne, if you do this, there must be some standards. It really should be a studio. At least a bed, a sofa, a desk, a kitchen and a bathroom with shower. Not an empty 10m² room.

Very cute property. Actually would love to see more places like that even suitable for a small family. We have a 10 yr old. We’re thinking of moving there and starting a business bit right now it’s only a thought. Online I have seen some 3 bedroom homes even for $500 usd a month which for our family would be amazing! We are wasting away here in the Us with our high mortgage especially where we are in New Hampshire near the Massachusetts border. My husband has family just outside of Udon Thani so it would be nice to do something else for a bit but for now, my husband does have an amazing job here but we’re really contemplating just taking a step down and doing something else :) love your videos by the way. Hope the tourist season picks up this year so all the businesses can get back up from the struggle

Restful, peaceful, and accommodating. Would be glad not to pay for a pool, or a gym. Two baths would work for a couple, but I would need to trim that extravagance. Always the Goldilocks deliberation; damn, I'm particular. Sweet deal in a green locality.

I love it. Quiet very clean and mostly furnished. A small garden. You can have a dog etc etc and a few chickens. No flooding. Can you get internet in that place

About 20 minutes into town Robert. Loads of shops and markets around. The restaurants will be a bit thin but you'll find some around. I could live here easy .

You would need to get ykur own refrigerator Dennis and some extra furniture. Luckily there was a second hand fridge place right outside.

I love watching your videos but after going to Thailand twice, I wonder if we would just stay inside in the a/c all the time. We have been to BKK and Pattaya. I guess we need to try Chiang Mai and see if it is cool enough for us. We love so many things about the country….just worry about that heat/humidity….

Thanks for liking the videos. Yes, the heat can be a problem but you do get use to it. I'm very fair skin and sensitive to heat but after a few years, it doesn't effect me like it once did.

Unbelievable that there is a beautiful village behind the road. which can not be seen from the road and looks shady and there is a gold shop in front of the road If the country is really unsafe, there will be no gold shops to open like this. In SEA countries, I don't think there is any country. with a gold shop to open in a place like this😲😉🤙❤️

Outside of City but convenient for shops etc. Great for anyone working from home.
The minimum contract is 6 months I think mate. Yes, for anyone doing stuff from home, this would be ideal. Everything close by also. 👍

The problem of the condos is there are far away from the city. If you have no cicle or car you must always take a taxi . I am looking for a condo near by the action is like Astra condo. But those are already rented
Yes, you would ideally need some sort of transport to live here. Many great places in the city and alot of places getting built now. I have some new condo videos coming soon.
The insulation might not be that great, so the aircon would be running full pelt when it's hot.
Yes mate, would need a ceiling fan or put some fans in. I would say this place would get super hot in dry season.
I would live there in a heartbeat even with my missus and teenage son who like sleeping in the same area room as us even though he has his own room down stairs i would have a ping pong table punching bag weights i would have a couple of fans attached to ceiling would be good how far is a pool Wayne

They are getting harder, people are struggling to find short term deals, but you can still find them.
I like it, but the occupied neighbors have roosters. Those were rooster cages.

Yes mate, it will prob be cheaper for the year. I would say wifi included but it's hard to tell when every property will have a different owner.
