With so many rooms and houses available now in Thailand due to the pandemic, i take a trip down to one of my favourite areas of the city, about 10 minutes south and walk around some of the streets to see some of the amazing Chiang Mai house for rent and very nice Chiang Mai house for sale. I have a friend who lives in the area and rents a basic but nice 2 bedroom house for as little as $130 a month. I also take a look at a new build house for sale in Chiang Mai. Living in Chiang Mai can be as cheap as you want really. Just 10 minutes out of the city you can find amazing cheap property in Chiang Mai.

I think its always good to explore different areas and options. Its true when they say there is no such thing as the perfect property but there is always the perfect property for you.

Thanks for showing us that neighborhood. It seems like everything you need is nearby. I plan to bring my dog to CM with me and it looks like a better area to go for walks, play ball, etc.

I'm happy where i am for now but this is an area for the future maybe mate.
Another pleasant stroll through another very pleasant part of CM..it’s been said if you move from BKK to CM you save about 30% and if you move outside of CM you save another 30%..the freedom from stress is very affordable and beaches are only a $30 plane ride away...so all in all it’s hard to beat..CM...and Tland in general..thx for the vid, keep on peddling 🙏🏻👍🏻✌🏻🕊

great vids enjoyed it great prices to rent them houses i was paying 16,000 baht a month in phuket 2019 for the same style of house/bunglow :( deffo will be checking out chang mi in the future

I've never been to 89 Plaza. That parking lot looks gigantic. Must really come to life at night with vendors selling food.
As you say, it's a perfect place to rent a place nearby. Thai rates and only 10 minutes from the city center. Much quieter, but still all the markets for fresh food. Living smack in the middle of the tourist zone, I found myself spending money needlessly and foolishly on Western foods at almost Western prices (Pizza, burgers, Italian food, etc) which if you're on a budget or gonna live their longterm, it's best not to indulge on a daily basis.
Anyways, next time I'm in CM, I'm gonna check that neighborhood out. Thanks for that video, Wayne. Cheers....
It's a massive place Sean and defo comes to life at night. This area has everything! and easy to get to town, casual 10 minutes ride on the bike. Yes, long-term down near 89 is perfect. If i was coming short term i would prob stay in and around the city still. You get alot more for the money just outside the city. You would probably need to furnish it but some do come furnished.

Yes, some good deals 10 minutes out of the city, especially now. Some of the houses had a swimming pool. Would be easy to find other places with a nice pool. Peace and quiet is what it's all about mate. Thanks. 👍

ahh ive been there before! I was told that its the residential part of chiang mai and houses are more cheaper compared to the touristic old city!
It's a nice area and cheaper than inside the city for sure. Not far from the city either 👍

Wayne, one of the things ive thought about Chiang Mai that puts me off a little is not having a beach nearby - is that something that you miss?
Thanks Stuart buddy. I think a lot of people stay down south for that reason mate, the beach. I'm from the seaside and lived with a beach outside my door back home all my life, so I guess it doesn't matter to much to me. Don't get me wrong though, I would love a beach in Chiang Mai. I've always been a jungle, trees and mountain guy, so I would choose jungle over the beach every time, but sure everyone's different. Sometimes I do miss that clean ocean air but missing a beach is something that never crosses my mind here mate. Thanks Stuart

4,000 thb a month, I think that may be Thai rates it would cost more for a farang unless you go and rent one with a Thai friend helping you negotiate rates.
Love the area Wayne, plaza 89 is great evenings for sure, I will check that area out when I come over,I prefer a small house 5o apartment anyway.

The area looked familiar but that's because it is close to our home. Still surprised about the ruins though.
Nice area south of the city Jaco, peace and quiet but with everything you need.
You should go up to Doi Pui to take photos of Himalayan cherry blossoms. 🤭😊

I just started enjoying your channel. My girlfriend and I are planning on coming to Chaing Mi for a month or two when the travel restrictions ease up some. In looking for a condo to rent for a month or two, could you recommend a web site, realtor, or other method to find a place or would AirBnB be the best option? Thanks, keep up the good work!

The best and cheapest way is to look on foot when your here. Book a hotel for a couple nights and then find an apartment when your here. You will get the best prices that way, but if your just coming for a month or 2, then sure AirBnB would be ok .

@@WalkAboutWayne I'm no expert but compared to other channels this video seems somewhat yellowish which is reducing the experience for me. I try to watch videos in 4k whenever possible which makes it so satisfying to watch. Just my opinion though.

How's the air quality in Chiang Mai now? Is it worth visiting?
Hi Brad, the air is pretty bad at the minute mate, in the unhealthy 127 zone. The mountain is hazy most days but nothing as bad as it's going to get in the coming weeks. Not the best time to be coming but it's still bearable at the minute. Thanks Brad.

Is Chiang Mai gate the same as Thapae gate?
No mate, Chiang Mai gate is the south gate, different from Tha Pae gate.

I LIVED IN NONG HOI FOR JUST OVER 2 YEARS, GREAT AREA, DRIVING THROUGH THOSE GIANT RUBBER TREES, THAT STRIP MALL IS ALRIGHT, WITH JAPANESE BUFFET ACROSS THE STREET. HOWEVER THE AREA LACKS SIDEWALKS AND THE OLD TOWN APPEAL. THOUGHT ABOUT BUYING THERE, BUT I'D HAVE TO BE INSIDE THE MAHIDOL RING
