Thanks for vid. If you are getting annoyed the loud beep with every notification I went to the APRS Ringer option #7 and turned off the RX Beacon and the beeping stops. Much nicer now.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Thanks for the info!!
Pure and simple… no hassles or side chat. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated.
@@WJ6FRadio my pleasure.
Nice Job, just got this radio, have it setup in the shack but will be putting it in the truck this weekend
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated.
thank you bro. I just bought FTM300..
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated.
Excellent video.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated.
Tnx for the video. Regards EA3FHB
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
i followed your step by step...thank you. but i can not transmit only receiving....any ideas...thanks
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Is it possible the CTCSS is on on the transmit side? I would start there to make sure.
Great video, but not sure why you skipped over PATH. There is significance to the PATH options.
PATH is one of the most important elements in APRS setup. Get it wrong and we're all clogged up with unnecessary and unwelcome packets.
I have everything set-up like the video but can't see myself on aprs.fi. I have aprsdroid and it shows on fi, any ideas of what might not be set correctly? K4EAE-9 WiresX 35810. I have modem and beacon ON.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I don't know if it something with the APRS.fi site, but I too have been having issues finding myself.
Is there a way to have the channel name larger and have the freq displayed in the small font?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Not that I have found yet
Someone on a FB group mentioned turning off each individual ringer. It worked. Just sharing in case someone else runs into it.
Is there anyway to turn off the beeps? Mute turns off chirps and I tried turning off beeps in config - have turned it off and on but still every time I receive an APRS there is a loud audible beep.
The manual doesn't seem to address this. The video was great and I have subscribed.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I will see what I can find out about the beeps. I agree they are annoying as hell!
FYI - Rings setting (means beeps or chirps). Each ringer can be turned off individually and it solved the problem.
Personally I think of a ring as a bell sound, not a nasty beep :)
Problem solved - thx
Does this unit not have an internal GPR? The whole reason I purchased this radio was for APRS functions when I am overlanding. Do I now need to purchase an external GPR to plug into the FTM-300?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Everything is self contained in the radio. To track your location use aprs.fi
@@WJ6FRadio Thanks again for taking the time to get back to me! I am relieved to learn that the 300 has internal GPS and APRS functions. I thought I was going to have to purchase an external GPS unit to plug into the unit.
Hello: Great Video! Is it possible to connect the FTM-300 to an Android phone/tablet, via bluetooth, enabling the APRSDroid app. for bidirectional messaging?
8P6RC
Robert Chambers Thanks for watching and commenting. I honestly don’t know. I believe the Bluetooth may only work with the Yaesu Bluetooth device and a few others. Would be great if it would connect to anything.
If I setup aprs on B band but have A band selected, will aprs still beacon out or do I need to have B selected?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! It is greatly appreciated! Yes, the APRS should function normally while you use band A.
@WJ6F Radio Thank you! Great video BTW.
@@jdberryman3112 No problem!!
this radio or the ft3d?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Are you asking which radio I prefer or recommend?
@@WJ6FRadio out of these two yes
@@Sam-w9des It all depends on what you wish to do. For me the best combo is FTM-400 and FT3. This is only my opinion, but if I had to choose I would probably go with the FTM-300 due to the fact that I am more often driving than walking around with an HT.
@@WJ6FRadio thanks i guess the ht would maybe suit me better as i would be using a hot spot but i like the 300 for the 50 watts they looks like the same radio except one mobile and the other one an ht
@@Sam-w9des If using a hot spot then the FT3 would be a better choice. If you go with the FT3 I do have a video on programming it using different programming software.
