- 'This is another lament from the Frantic Four! Frantic Four, Lame Brains and all that.' I've made another video by combining the audio of the Live! album and footage mainly from Madrid '75.
I was there the 3 nights ,what a memory.What a band !
When I started listening to music I heard the Beatles. Then I recognized Quo Live among the LPs of my older brother. When I first heard the intro and Juniors wailing I fell in love with this music and the Quo. That was more than 40 years ago. Nothing has changed since that time. This is still my favourite album of all time!
Awesome! Beautiful to see this, Quo at the height of their powers in the 70s. Status Quo Live is the best live album ever recorded. The best years 70 - 76...maybe we can stretch it to 79...but that is pure, raw and energetic Status Quo that you just can't overlook....Rock in peace Rick...missed, respected and loved 🤘
I was there, upper balcony , 15 years old and can remember it like yesterday. No big screens, no dancers, no choreography, just four guys at the top of their game outplaying everything else on the planet.
Then came Rocking All Over The World, and the beginning of the end until their resurrection in 2013/14. I was there as well.

I was so lucky to see them in the very early 70’s in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 of all places. We were there to see Rory Gallagher. Never heard of them and when an announcer from AM radio of all things announced “ from England…Status Quo ! “ We all thought oh gawd’ nooo ! But they were fn’ incredible, literally jaw dropping in their prime, Lancaster on bass of course. I bought everything friggin album I could get my hands on. I remember a guitarist friend and I literally played Status Quo song’s acoustically jamming for over 2 hours straight. We loved them so much. And I love the Quo to this day. That’s why I’m here, I still play them all the time. It’s a shame we never got to see them again as, well I don’t think they did that well in America. Shows what Americans know eh ? True honest rock ! I hear people, think their a joke “ they sound the same ( Status Quo ) dummies…but their answer to that was “ of course we do, who else would we sound like, we’re Status Quo ! We’ll never really see them again live. RIP Rick ❤️ and I’m sorry it’s just not the same without Lancaster on bass and his singing very under rated ! Love “ The Quo “ !!! 🎶🎸🥁👍🏻❤️
Well said, the USA missed out. What a band they were in the 70's, ì have followed them never since but tbh not the same without John, Rick and Alan.
I bought this double LP when I was 14, my first record. The album got legs. I'll buy it again and again the album had legs. Then I bought it used, in a Second Record store and got my legs back,again..... Later I bought it several times as a double CD. Now, in old age, without interested friends, the CD is in the closet. The cut is different on the LP, unfortunately. In the meantime I've heard so many live albums in my life that I can hardly count them anymore and whenever I'm asked which live album I keep listening to, I call this the album.
Thank you for this album and for allowing me to listen to it again and again for so many years.
Saw Quo when this album first came out. At a small venue in Elgin Illinois called the Blue Moon. They were opening for Mahogany Rush, who we didn't bother to stick around to hear. These guys kicked ass for 50 minutes straight. I rate that show number one of the many, many live shows I've attended and I've seen dozens of live 70's shows. The place was so small that they ended up in the crowd a lot of the time. It was just amazing. And maybe $10. One of my all time favorite memories.

Am 63 and a seen Quo at the Glasgow Apollo 5 times between 1973 +1976 brilliant.
Best rock music in the universe. And Rick with black Gibson guitar, it looks just great...

Just check out the sheer energy of John Coughlan (Spud) on Drums, Rick, Francis & Nuff!! They must have been so exhausted after every gig!! What an incredible Band they were as the four originals!
I have been a Quo fan ever since I found a rocking through the years vhs in my dads cupboard and watched it all the way from beginning to end then want to watch it all over again :D was around 10 at the time

It was the best venue in Britain for sound and atmosphere. The Glasgow Apollo has never been properly replaced.

I saw Quo in Brussels , guess it was 1973. This was the best live concert I ever, ever saw in my life, and I saw many as wi worked for EMI . So glad I was there.

@@softickman It's such a shame that the Madrid 75 didn't have the sound quality recording, because those boys were bang on the night (probably very high). Best I've ever seen them. However Rolloverlaydowndown has done a great job of amalgamating the footage with sound from Live 76 🤘🤘

Bought the vinyl live album the day it came out in Australia - I still have it, but it's getting worn out I played it so often, using my tennis racquet to play along to a certain battered white Telecaster!. I did all my year 12 study to this album. But because I had no record player in my room, I went and bought the cassette as well! That eventually wore out completely.
You had to be there in the 70s, to have witnessed the BEST ROCK band EVER. Sure there has been some good uns, but by Christ...THE QUO were sheer full frontal assault rocking..no prisoners. and the blue army were a terrific bunch !

If only theyd split in 77 they'd be revered now as one of the great all time rockin' bands-stuff like this kept me alive from 72 till Punk came along.
They should have split up after the Live Album. I can"t find the appropriate words to describe what happened to this band.

Memories came flooding back seeing the Frantic Four at Glasgow Apollo all those years ago. 4 weeks til we see them again although maybe a wee bit less frantic. Apart from the fact that they lack the aggression I’ve always wondered why the current lineup doesn’t play this pair of songs together - a devastating pairing. Relegating Most Of The Time to a mere bit part in a medley is just ridiculous while shite like Burning Bridges and The Wanderer mostly get a full airing. Baffling.
