7:16-8:20 and 8:40-10:25 I knew Francis was a good guitarist and all, but OMG I never knew he could play like THAT! He is so underrated as a guitarist and I think he is a worthy guitar god. I mean 7:29-7:50, those pinch harmonics are amazing!
One of the great Quo songs and brilliant vocals from Rick. Brilliant version. A cloud of nostalgia has come over and I feel like crying from the memories
Listened to this a million times,(never mind 45)all different versions, especially '73 album, seen them 18 times how can you not like it,go listen to QUO LIVE 1976,then discover who they were!
Thanks for all the comments about the video, nice to see people appreciate this awesome song as much as myself. Favourite bit though Francis' solo @ 13:40, only him on the guitar and he is kicking arse! and without even looking half the time. Truely an underrated player if ever there was!
Tanked up on umpteen bottles of olde English cider enjoying a classic English band and not realising just how much I should soak it all up to the memory bank for a rainy day. God bless ya Quo👍
This 1 song smashes many that people consider in the top 100 of all time, this performance alone is worthy of being up there, Quo fan or not! Just a high quality performance I've watched since I had the video aged 10 in 1985!
when they get going at the 8.30 min mark they REALLY get going. I would be hard pressed to see and hear any other band perform at this level of intensity. Rossi and all of the band are absolutely on fire at this point. It is exhilarating to watch. What an incredible band they were. And how sad it ended here at Milton Keynes in 1984. They never, ever came close to the magic defined here. Even without John Coghlan they were an incredible band live. After 1984, well we all know where Rossi took the band. Such a shame it had to be this way. Their entire legacy is built on gigs such as this and music such as this not the Margie Time music Mr. Rossi so loved and pushed through under the Quo name. I saw them 40+ times up to this point. Never saw them again until the reunion gigs of 13 and 14 - now that was worth waiting for.
I felt sure this was Milton Keynes bowl, I was there and it was epic. Always loved 4500 times, this is Quo at their best. I only saw them 8 times, wish I had done more but hey what can you do. Still got all the vinyl I bought back then. I also had a VHS from the Milton Keynes gig for years, not had anything to play it on for so long it went to a charity shop, bloody wish I kept that now.
RIP Rick, the first concert I ever went to, End of the Road, Edinburgh Playhouse 1984, to this day one of the best concerts ive ever been to. Huge loss to many
I was 17 when i went to this tour. 2 nights at southampton gaumont. my dad picked me up after the gig and said that didnt sound to bad when he was standing outside waiting for the show to end. i took him to see quo in '97 at bornemouth. he was 67 years old and he loved it.
There early seventies albums are full of bruisers , pure no nonsense electric rock n roll , My favourite gig I attended of theirs was Reading festival 1978 , ten minute walk from where I live well handy 😎RIP Alan and Rick
17.08 of pure excellence, watch this and then you realise why they are still rocking after 50 years. The reason? It's quite simple, they are absolutely, totally, fucking brilliant, that's why:-))))))))))))))
Very emotional watching that, for a life long Quo fan. Best line up and only two of the regular members left now. How on earth did they not make it big in America? Response to article only.
So true pal,,! Don't know why they never got to America,? , grew up likening the quo back when I was a kid in the 70s, born May 23rd 1968 from northern Ireland UK, 🇬🇧 , I can even say my late gran liked them,! RIP Gran 1989,!
Probably not pretentious enough for the US. They played as back up for ZZ Top a few times. I believe they showed them up . Possibly didn’t do them any favours. Doesn’t make sense.
Alan Lancaster told me years ago that they supported Savoy Brown in the states and the Americans wanted them to have more of an image. Eg permed hair and satin flares. Quo were too working class for the yanks. The yanks wouldn't have got rossis cockney slang. They were too gritty.
if i had a penny for every time i've watched this, i'd have £5.63. probably. ok it's edited and the sound mix isn't great but i love this version of 4500 times - i may even get round to building a replica of the black Gibson. RIP Ricky, you're the reason i wanted to play guitar in the first place and you're the reason i play rhythm guitar with a wound 3rd. cheers
Quo dies when Alan Lancaster left, not Rick Parfitt. When you change the theme from Rock 'n' Roll to Pop it is definitely time to move on and Alan was right to do what he did. Forty Five Hundred Times or Living On An Island? You have to make a stand and Francis & Rick sold their souls to be pop stars but yeah, RIP Rick.
4500x is a song you either get or you don't. The latter being because a monster from another planet has devoured your soul. The recipe is simple. 5 parts rock, 1 part emo, 1 part blues. Stir 4500 times. Cook at 11.
Rolling stones are crap compared to the mighty quo not even in the same league as the greatest rock band in the world RIP Rick and God bless you for the fantastic performances
Saw them when I served in the Army in my hometown Örebro Sweden march 1978, one of the ultimate rocknroll experiences of my entire life. What a band, they really raised the roof on Örebro Sport Hall. They ended the concert with this amazing 45000 times song there as well. My tinnitus will never let me forget that evening when I had the luck to see the Frantic Four that amazing band Staus Quo. Praise the Lord that I had the opportunity to live in the same time as those guys.
@Whaddaboutye I agree my friend but not let us forget Uriah Heep !! they were fokkin great too back in those days !! love Quo 4 ever though !! from friggin Holland yours sinceraly >> etc :-) oh yeah and thanx 4 posting this !!
God I miss this version of Quo, with Rick and Alan. Went to the Deeside Leisure Centre gig of this "End of the Road Tour". Alan clonked Francis on the nose with the end of his swinging guitar and got a real scowl off Francis! Where the hell has the intervening 39 years gone.... Love this song. Thanks for sharing.
The (approx) 30 minute version of 4500 times I saw Quo perform at Hammersmith was '79 when they did (I think) 3 nights at Wembley then announced they were doing the 7 night run at Hammersmith. I was 14 and they blew my f*ckin' 'ead orf
I was there in 84...this is Quo at their best..one of the best gigs they did..Rock on Quo, seeing the Frantic Four next April 2014 in Wolverhampton, all being well !!!! Forever Quomania.
I was there it was the saddest day of my life..and getting off the car park afterwards was just horrible..it took 2hrs to get off the site and another 3hrs to drive home. Quo were never the same after this..it was an amazing gig but one I wish that I'd never had to go too.
WOW this live is even better than the album version!
The energy is infectious 👍🏻
Quo at their best, all tho for me they will always be
The QUO at their rockin best
fantastic energy
7:16-8:20 and 8:40-10:25 I knew Francis was a good guitarist and all, but OMG I never knew he could play like THAT! He is so underrated as a guitarist and I think he is a worthy guitar god. I mean 7:29-7:50, those pinch harmonics are amazing!

Quo don't get much better than this bad boy!!
QUO's Holy Grail
One of the great Quo songs and brilliant vocals from Rick. Brilliant version. A cloud of nostalgia has come over and I feel like crying from the memories
I’m with you there, man. JaneR
Ladies and gentlemen a proper Rock ‘n’ roll band.
Well said from oz
Listened to this a million times,(never mind 45)all different versions, especially '73 album, seen them 18 times how can you not like it,go listen to QUO LIVE 1976,then discover who they were!
Live in Lyon ’76 it’s excellent
Thanks for all the comments about the video, nice to see people appreciate this awesome song as much as myself.
Favourite bit though Francis' solo @ 13:40, only him on the guitar and he is kicking arse! and without even looking half the time.
Truely an underrated player if ever there was!
RIP Rick Parfitt legend
It IS the show you never forgot. Freaking awesome. Nothing like it nowadays, and the kids don't have a clue what they missed.
Tanked up on umpteen bottles of olde English cider enjoying a classic English band and not realising just how much I should soak it all up to the memory bank for a rainy day. God bless ya Quo👍
👍
My mum had both the Channel 5 videos for this concert, Watched them so many times as a kid, This is my favourite Quo song.
Michael Robert yep
I was at The Apollo in Hammersmith. Just incredible.
this is the best rock an roll ever.17 mins of true rock
Shame there will be no more music like this.
I often say: "If I ever fall into a coma and the Sound of Status Quo doesn't bring me back to Life, you can Turn off the Machines!" Love Quo!
Without doubt the best live band ever, first concert at Blackpool opera house around 1975.Thanks for the memories Rick, yes indeed, A legend.
Best Quo song.
Shame that so many of my friends don't get it.
I guess you either do or you don't.

In fact the whole band
Rick is always with us due to technology
What a song. One of the best album tracks ever. I still love the Quo and have most of their CDs and DVDs. Absolute legends.
This 1 song smashes many that people consider in the top 100 of all time, this performance alone is worthy of being up there, Quo fan or not! Just a high quality performance I've watched since I had the video aged 10 in 1985!
the yanks have freebird ,we have this Gem.R,I,P Rick
MAGNIFICENTLY SAID!!!!!!!
we're all in time, but somebody's missing. RIP Rick.
Brilliant

I love how they drag the 70's kicking and screaming into every decade since, yet still make it look cool.
Well said ❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🙏
What a Phenomenal Drummer 👏. To play at that tempo plus those fills
the best live song

The only real rock band, RIP Rick.
How Francis Rossi can play with his guitar amazes me to this day!
I was 17 when i went to this tour. 2 nights at southampton gaumont. my dad picked me up after the gig and said that didnt sound to bad when he was standing outside waiting for the show to end. i took him to see quo in '97 at bornemouth. he was 67 years old and he loved it.
Beautiful memory. Thanks for sharing. 🙏. Your dad rocks. 👍🏻👍🏻
Saw The Quo 50+ times over the last 35 years. Rick always gave 100%. God Bless You Sir! Rock In Peace.
the real heavy quo in the 70's and 80's
Watch this and i'm 23 again. Was this really 40 years ago? It surely was.
Proof yet again that in their day they were by far the best live band to ever grace a stage - awesome playing.
Pete Kirtcher did a great job on that, really made him work for his money.
There early seventies albums are full of bruisers , pure no nonsense electric rock n roll ,
My favourite gig I attended of theirs was Reading festival 1978 , ten minute walk from where I live well handy 😎RIP Alan and Rick
Seen them live. They are the best live band ever, never a dull moment when they around
Thanks, Craggers. No one does it like the Quo. This is the best version of a classic track. Want this playing at my funeral :-)
Best live performance of any band anywhere 😍
Nuff said...

Absolutely! Our priviledge to be on this side of the pool.

one of the best rock tunes ever and that's official ,,,

Fucking phenomenal! There has never been a better live act than Quo. Never!

Best played as loud as you can get away with for the best effect, I think!
Susan Whittenham What a bass! What a song! What a performance! I have it on blu ray ,play it loud! What a quality!
The rhythm master. Bet he's giving it belters to that Tele somewhere. RIP Rick.
