It's still the best live album. I was there that night and even pictured in the inside cover standing waiting to get in to the Apollo with my mates. It took me 20 years to notice I was in the photo.😀
There will never be another band to come close to what Quo were when they were at the top of their game. The Frantic Four..... Rick Parfitt was totally unique and a absolute joy to watch. The best rhythm guitarist ever. An impossibility for his shoes to ever be filled. They might try, but.... "Accept no substitute." What a Legend. They don't make them like that anymore. RIP Rick. X
And this ladies and gentlemen is proof that us boring old farts who go on about the real Quo in the 70's aren't as daft as you all think. OK the video isn't from the Glasgow gig, but the syncing to the live album soundtrack is cleverly done and is from the same era. The energy is there for all to see, and it was 10 times better live in the crumbling Apollo theatre - happy days and thanks for posting this
Well, there was a Band member called Roy Lynes from 1965-1970, who by leaving QUO, is actually responsible for the existence of THE FRANTIC FOUR. Nobody wanted him to leave the Band, though it did work out well. A true QUO fan always remembers Roy Lynes and shows him the respect he deserves. Roy co-wrote some cool QUO songs. It was bad enough using Keyboards at the end of RUNAWAY on 1979's " Whatever You Want " album These days Andy Bown plays Keyboards in some very inappropriate places in QUO Classics. More proof that Cabaret QUO are a disgrace and embarrassment to the memory of ALAN LANCASTER. We all know that RICK just went a long for the ride and the money, because he'd spent all of his on booze and drugs. I'm very surprised that Rick and Francis didn't notice that they were playing their Guitar parts 2 or 3 octaves higher than the original versions. It was very noticeable on DOWN DOWN. I very rarely venture down past halfway on the neck of a Guitar.
First live album i bought , thin lizzy was next one. Put it on the turntable , speakers on the windowsill , full volume. Every one in my village loved Quo. :)
I'm nearly 60 now and you just can't beat listening to the Quo live album, I cracked my mum's glass cabinet from the bass when I used to play this loud when I was 16 !!, Wow, Great memories.
@@theSunKing142 I guess Steve's right. They are kinda underrated. Just an exmple - they are not in rock'n'roll Hall of fame. Considering the 100M solds, count of singles in charts and more than 6000 live shows seems to be a joke. Just beacause they were not popular in the states.
Brilliant. Great footage from Madrid 75 with the best sound from Apollo 76. What other band in the world could cover their faces or turn their back on the crowd and still get a massive standing ovation. In their day, a truly in-sync quartet on every level
just watched this with volume full up and gave me goose bumps. i was there also on all three nights...couldn't hear and was sore all over for days....lol. Awesome job. ;)
Was my 1st concert aged 12 and what a gig to go to , Parfitt [ god bless] at his finest with big fat mama ,a song that really shows Quo as a rock band ,seen them again another 3 times at the apollo and it just got better every time , The apollo was some place for a gig and AC/DC done a live album in the same year ,says a lot about the place .
This is the song that began a 40+ year love affair for me and this is the best version of all. Quo doing their thing in front of 4,000 Glaswegians. Absolute magic. Thank you for uploading this cracking tune.
Saw them at the Apollo. The circle above us bounced about 4 feet up and down. Unbelievable. Best ever venue for a quo concert. Just been with the wife to see them plus skynnard; f#@/sake brilliant
Your damn right....I was a Glasgow Apollo roadie and I did their last gig there and I totally was amazed. The balcony was swaying down to about 8 inches...these technicians were shining a laser to 9 inches below and if the sway had been 1 more inch they would have evacuated the place. After that I always ran instead of walked under it if I could incase it fell on my head.
The leap from 'Dog Of Two Head' to 'Piledriver' was massive in all aspects, especially Rossi's lead breaks. He must have done a lot of work on that in 12 months!
AC/DC would never of had a band to copy off of. Sorry David, there are two grammatical errors here. First one is 'never of had ' the correct grammar is ' never have had ' Second one is 'copy off of ' the correct grammar is ' had a band to copy off ' I cringe when Americans say 'get your feet off of the table ' Saying ' of ' is redundant and obsolete and just plain unnecessary. Long Live the QUO!!!!!!!
They used two layers: The most time we have seen pictures of a concert 1975 .. but it was Live! Music / in the Apollo concert 1974 - for a short time we could see this layer!
Alan Strom Francis and Rick started taking a lot of drugs like cocaine and that affected their individual mentality. Alan said in a long interview, that Francis wanted to control the Band. Francis got Pip Williams to Produce RAOTWorld in 1977, without consulting the Band. Francis had secret ambitions to move the Band in a different direction musically. This became more prevalent in 1982 and 1983 by which time Alan was only just hanging on. In Alan's long interview he said it would have cost him too much in legal fees to fight for his rights. All through the Band's existence there were songs that Alan had written, yet the Record Company and Francis decided that Alan wouldn't sing. This came to a head on the Back to Back album. Plus, as any real QUO supporter knows, Francis loves Country music, and that's OK, as long as he did it under his own name. Both Francis and myself have a passion for 'Already Gone ' by The Eagles, however that is a Country Rock song and to me it's a very cool tune. However, ' Marguerita Time' is a disgusting and revolting tune which Francis insisted on recording and releasing under the banner of Status Quo. Alan said that it was too embarrassing for him to be associated with and he left the Band that he formed in 1962. There were other serious issues that affected Alan which were weighing heavily upon him. There were royalty issues and poor management problems which were either out of his control or too expensive to fight. 'Marguerita Time' was the straw that broke Alan's back. Unfortunately, Alan lost the part of the court case whereby Rossi and Parfitt were allowed to keep the Band name. After all, it was Alan's Band. Selfishly on my behalf, I and my mates got to see Alan in his various Hard Rock Bands in Sydney, Australia. He was so cool, that he hung out with the crowd after the gigs. I hung out with him quite a few times, had a smoke and a beer with him at several pub venues. Lancaster and Coghlan were QUO's engine room.
Got to say you have done an awesome job with this video. Where did you get the footage from and why the hell wasn't it released on video by the band? For me this is the best LIVE album EVER released!

Cool! So you were one of those 'freaks' I adored as a 10yr old.
It was just great to see a great live band at the top of their game.@@Signofevil_Smile4theCam
Probably one of the most honest live LPs of the 70s. It still Rocks!

Great words Brian.
You sound like a true QUO supporter.
Good onya mate.
Hands down the best live album of any band EVER!
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.!!!!!!!
I love this album, I must have listened to it forty five hundred times :)
Ha ha, well done!
Nice one Fuego.
There is no-one to come near quo ever.
I was there on the 3 nights of the recording, nothing has ever come close to the experience of the Quo live..........sensational

It's fantastic
That was the Quo that we all love. Man they really gave everything back then. Thank you for the music. You truly kicked ass
Nuffs Base playing total class. Spud on drums unsurpassed. The one and only Quo

Wholeheartedly agreed
The QUO Energy
