Shang Tsung is the long con. You will benefit from every other character you play when you play him. His old/ young gameplay improves his efficacy while keeping to his theme. Obviously changing to the opponents is the goal, but he shape shifts even without that gimmick. I applaud the devs. Super hard to use though. I appreciate the knowledge you provided for him. I think base Shang is absolutely a zoner. He has several ways to reset neutral, create space, and full screen presence. Also been loving Sektor as his Kameo, the telepunch tracking makes kombo extension easy and his missiles at full screen will force people to block and take chip from triple fireball that they otherwise could have ducked. Lot of potential with Shang this time around and I think this may be the best version of the character we’ve ever had playable 😊
I previously played Street Fighter 6 and am new to Mortal Kombat. I'm having a problem with the changeover when blocking. I will main Shang Tsung. Play him main and the other characters by the way to master the transformation. You really have to know the other characters at least the basics. That's why it's not suitable for beginners. Secondary I play Baraka and Liu Kang. But I love Shang Tsung.
He’s the first character I picked up for mk1. The other characters feel much easier to learn but if you can get great with Shang, he can be a monster. Switching between young and old once you know the strings for each… he becomes insanely fun
Most players even pros don’t use the shapeshift into the opponent. I mean a guy like Sonicfox that really can play every character could do it but most won’t and it will always be a “wow” moment when someone uses it in a tournament.
Found a pretty cool way to perform a combo and finish with the stick around brutality. Start with old form, F3, DF1, 4, DF1, 4, DF1, switch to young form, DB3.
A combo I enjoy is B12, F43x(Far) Fire Breath [Scorpion Kameo], FDB4. This leaves the opponent still in a juggle state, allowing you to continue the combo as their kharacter. It’s pretty cool in my opinion, and a good base 👍
I honestly did not realize how prominent Onestep was in this space until i started looking at hella MK1 videos and seeing his name in almost every search! Hats off sir

hm I have him paired with Sonya for combo extenders, but I think someone like Frost might be good depending on your opponent, Her freeze allows him to setup morphing combo's.

The universal language is easier for everyone. Not everyone plays the same console and so the buttons wouldn’t make sense to some. So using the universal input language helps everyone

Is it possible to be old Shang tsung and do the fire skulls that pull the enemy towards you, then whilst they are coming towards you, morph to Scorpion and continue the combo with his air launcher?
Sooo really quick question i didnt hear you explain. In other mk’s shang tsung only had him and morphs but now we have him young, old and morphs but my question is whats the MAIN difference between young and old. From the video it seems to have different options depending on your playstyle. Its looks like young is for keep away with a little rushdown and old is more like get over here and eat this but he seems slower. Am i correct?

You bought it recently? Or pre ordered it? Cuz you had to have pre ordered the game before this past Thursday to get him digitally. If you pre ordered through a store they should’ve given you a code 😅
@@Kongenkonny oh buying it yesterday doesn’t count as a pre order as the game officially launch on Thursday for premium versions. Epic games might not have counted that as a pre order.

Extremely disappointing. Why have they gimped his classic ability to turn into anyone in any fight? That was literally the funnest thing about him, letting you turn into anyone's hard counter if you were good. Gimped Tsung sucks.

Mortal Kombat is an amazing game but it has a horrible hard problem. We have to press a button to cover from the attacks. Why the hell they don't allow us to cover just with the left cross like all the other fighting games???

Shang tsung is good even without transformations but its sick when you can alternate combos with transformations

He’s hard to get down tbh. He’s a lot to handle at first. But keep up the practice and he’ll be a menace!
Been having fun using frost or subzero i hit confirm into freeze, enhance morph to get the damage bonus and do their own combos against them

The premium version doesnt guarantee Shang Tsung, it was pre ordering the game that did. So you had to have pre ordered the game to get him
