Hi, hopefully I will be retiring in 8 years when I turn 60…I’ve been living and working in New York as a nurse for 30 years now… im planning to retire in Vegas, where taxes are less and life is more laid back..I have nothing to return to in the Philippines..I have a few friends, but that’s it..I’m single and my only son is here with me in the US..I will go visit the Philippines once in a while, but my life is really now here in the US, and I’m happy with that!
It's a case to case basis. Yes, it varies from our experiences. You are all correct because there is truth in what each person have been through. Some people can dismiss the kabastusan ng mga pinoys on the road. And the never-ending road repairs that really do not need repair. Then some pinoys are masochists, they love experiencing the pain of bureaucracy, slow justice system, the outright stupidity of pinoys in playing karaokes, videokes, sound system with scant regard to people sleeping at midnight. Pure rudeness and even clueless. Oh, the chaos in Avenida and EDSA. It is hell. Pinoys are racists too. We have low impression of the other pinoy's ethnicity. Kapampangans look down on Tagalogs, the latter look down on... Name it. In Visayas Cebuanos look down on... Well, you think only Americans are racists? In the US, of course, there problems are... Name it. In Ph, government employees, when you process documents, will give you the back and forth. Slow slow slow. And you can see these employees enjoying the kakanin delivered by vendors as ordinary pinoys languish in the waiting area wondering when their papers will be handed to them. So, to each his own, it would just depend on problems your personality can take. I wish the best wherever your heart may find the serenity and love. Good luck to all.

I recently retired to the Philippines after living 50 years in the USA. I settled here because my retirement money goes a lot further. Imagine $1000 is more than enough for one person on a monthly basis, its why I can afford to go Business class everytime I go back to the the USA for a vacation. It also helps that i'm considered a senior citizen cause you get a big discount in restaurants, you get to watch movies for free and you get to go to the front of any line, seniors are the priority. I've only lived here for 1.5 years now and have assimilated to the culture and way of life. The only thing that makes my blood boil is the lack of discipline with regards to the driving here especialyy those pesky motorcycle riders.
Completely agree with you, it’s like they give anyone a drivers license in the Philippines 😂, motorcycles be driving in side walks and not thinking of the people walking.

Hi, we are also from the Bay Area and starting the "Meet and Greet" stage of our retirement (?) in the Phils. All I can say to both of you is...have patience, lots and lots of patience, and the way things are done in the Phils, my mindset is somewhat "It is what it is" 🙂. Best of luck and welcome back to our home country.
What ive realized living in the us. Kahit saan walanh perfect country even here in the us so much better to go back home sa pinas mas panatag ang loob comfortable after makapag ipon and invests and the thing is mas maeenjoy pinaghirapang pera kasi mas malaki ang value from usd to php. Just my opinion i dont want to be in the us forever rat race dito and madami ding imperfections so why not embrace the imperfections of ur own country ganun din naman in diff ways lang.
Not perfect but healthcare sucks. Questionable medical knowledge specially in the provinces. Make sure you have at least $30K for each person in case you need major surgery. Insurance for 70 yrs old is around $400 a month per person with limited coverage & goes up as you aged. Crowded, traffic is horrendous, Lot of red tapes, inconveniences, electricity is the highest in Asia, Imported items are double or triple the price & more.
@@JunRoss-pp3mv That's the most important thing to consider prior to deciding in moving back to the Philippines, HEALTHCARE. Hende naman sa pag down sa atin bayan pero pagdating sa processo sa ospital o alin man bagay ay hende pa rin nabago yon mabagal na processo due to complicated bureaucratic system. Also, I noticed sa atin mga kababayan na most don't "think outside the box" to facilitate a task, instead rely on the sequence listed in their requirements, prior to proceeding to a next task.
Hello there Ati Gi! New subscriber from San Diego, You tuber din kami ni Mrs. Pero more in me ang mga technical, Bilib ako sa lahat ng mga technical work, from editing, music background and camera placement👏👏 same vision tayo, Retired sa Phil. while we are still healthy and able to walk around.
You’re right with all those things to be missed in America. Good luck to your Philippine life. For sure masaya din naman sa pinas lalo na with family and friends.
Oh, you're definitely going to miss A LOT!! I only got to live there for a couple of years during the 80's and there's not a day that goes by that I don't miss living in the US. Simple and yet peaceful. Hardly surrounding toxicity. That's why I still go back from time to time every chance I get. People saying that's it's more happy to live in the Philippines, haven't really found true happiness. Happiness comes from within. Happiness DOES NOT depend on the place you're staying at or the people around you (whether family or friends).
Love your channel, and nakaabang na ako sa new upload mo.
Enjoy your journey in the States. You will love it. It have given countless Filipinos a chance at a better life, or second chances. My best to you. Thanks for watching.
Gi I am enjoying your videos. I have the same situation, SC base, nurse, 20+ years. Just came back visiting the Philippines 1 week ago. While there, hubby and I decided to retire which is a change from our prior plan to stay in the US. Plan is 4-5 years from now, just in time for my youngest to graduate from college. I get emotional with your videos, lol. Feeling senti. Anyways, been planning now...how to spread out our retirement funds to avoid taxes and of course planning to build just a small house that will be comfortable and functional until we are very old. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
Ate Gi! I enjoy watching your channel. Panalo story telling. My wife and I have 10 more years to go to retire. We are still undecided if we are to retire sa Philippines. So pls. continue building this chanel even pag retire na kayo sa Philippines. 🙂

Good luck with that ...I tried staying sa atin for good for a year but it did not work out well for me so I'm back in the States. Maybe it will be different for you
Hi Ate Gi! New subscriber here in Toronto Canada. Kmi din excited na mag retire sa Pinas. By 2026 mag reretire na ang husband ko so ako semi retire narin that time. I love watching your vlogs, i love listening your soothing voice and topics are very entertaining. Good luck and enjoy the retirement soon.😍
Why would you retire in the Philippines if you're doing good & fully assimilated in the states? Well, it seems you're in CA where the standard of living is so high & the politics became toxic & unbearable, but there are other places in the states like in the east (FL) or south TX) that are more retirees-friendly, particularly giving more "value" with your retirement funds. I'm not saying our homeland is bad to retire but I just can't imagine going back & start all over again. Moreover, the weather & pollution in the Philippines why I reconsidered to just stay put in the states ..just my 2 cents :)
I retired from the same area as Ate, and moved to Makati 5 years ago. I would say the #1 reason was stress. Life in the US is very stressful, even if you have money and live in the SF Bday area. There is constant micro aggression and occasional outright racism. Life in the Philippines, again if you have some money, is much less stressful and joyful. No arguments in the parking lot and running every day errands like grocery shopping, going to the bank, dental office, cafes, etc. is much less stressful. The level of service in the Philippines is much higher, and no one is demanding a 25 to 30% tip from you. When you go to the grocery store in the Philippines, one or two young men will be happy to help you box up your purchases and then carry them for you to your car or even to your condo! It's amazing...no way that ever happens in the Bay area.
It's our Filipino culture to be helpful all the time. Kaya nga Filipinos are known to be good, compassionate workers. That's the Pinoy at heart. Despite the cons, i think there's better quality of life sa atin. Thanks for watching.
I myself live d2o po sa states Minnesota for 4 decades since childhood...I never had the urge of going on vacation on other states pero na ka punta din ako sa mga outskirts of other states from here, I lived in a simple life..from grade school, high school to college .. hindi ako materialistic pero enough to get by of my needs. sa pag tipid may ipon din .. I can't see myself living here being a senior citizen.. malapit darating before retirement ko.. uuwi din ako.. build a small concret house wihit grid solar panel and water tank (vital necessities) at since lumaki ako in the cities.. I prefer in the province either by the ocean .. La Union.. o maybe lang sa a little cold climate Bagiou.
I will never retire in the Philippines. Visit, yes, but retire completely, nope. Poor infrastructures, the most expensive and inefficient utilities in Southeast Asia, rampant corruption, terrible poverty and inequality, very expensive medical care, non existent judiciary system, very hot and humid. Plus, the coming war between China and Taiwan. Best place to retire in Southeast Asia are Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. Not the Philippines. What you should do is split your time between the Philippines and the US. And make sure you have a backup plan to leave the Philippines immediately.
I totally agree with your current observations and foresight. It is a matter of when not if China will invade Taiwan. China will do it soon to save face and save their collapsing economy. Always have a plan B or an exit strategy. I retired in Southern California 17 years ago, I am 55 now. Living in SoCal is like living in US & Philippines at the same time without the humidity and inconveniences. I also lived in NorCal for 3 years but it is not for me, boring there compared to SoCal.I can only last up to 3-4 weeks in the Philippines, it is too crazy and hot/humid plus over 20 typhoons a year! I have to go back to SoCal to get my sanity and peace of mind back! It is actually more fun in SoCal than the Philippines! We also have all the authentic Mexican, Filipino, Asian, and other ethnic foods in SoCal. We are close to Mexico and a 45 minute flight away from Vegas. Planned my retirement and totally debt-free and house;/cars are paid off. All of my retirement accounts, precious metals, investments, real estate and superb healthcare are in USA. Now, if I only had SS income, I won't have a choice but to retire in the Philippines. Most(not all) of those who retire in the Philippines, including Americans, retire in Pinas because it is the only place they can afford where cost of living/housing is cheaper.😊
Deciding to retire in the Philippines is a very personal decision which requires a lot of thought & preparation. As long as people do their due diligence, whether they retire in the Philippines or in any other country for that matter, will be well prepared. My wife & I decided we will retire in the Philippines back in 2020 & started preparing for it. We are 4 years away from our goal. We will be traveling between Vacaville, CA & Philippines, & we plan to do a lot of traveling as well in Europe & SE Asia. Best of luck to you!
I just retired here last year after living in the states for 50yrs and we love it here. No, AC cost is not even expensive, I got one running all day downstairs and it cost us about $250 a month during the Summer. I did worst than than living in Arizona. Also, there are so much more food options and delivery services here unlike the states its so far just to get food and Chinese restaurants have generic type food menus, here is a smorgasmorg of China on the plate. We also, like the out doors here and although we live near Manila, we often just take a plane to one of the other islands like Cebu, Palawan and Bohol for vacation. On top of that, any service here is dirt cheap like plumbing, car wash, hair cuts and pet sitting. I even got my own driver too now. Hahahaha!
We tested the water there and retired early and lasted 2 years in 2015. Aging with the need for quick, adequate and affordable medical treatment made us go back to the States. Pneumonia hospitalization there for 2 weeks was almost $20,000 in US dollars. Our nextdoor Neighbor was going through kidney dialysis and was paying $400 dollars per session weekly (21,000 php) to a point he no longer can afford it. It would have been possible if we were much younger but as we aged, we knew we had to be in the U.S.
Hi. Been watching your vlogs, they are informative. 😊 l'm working as a nurse here in SF, Ca for two years now, planning to retire in Philippines din po, malayo pa pero need na din paghandaan. Hehe. Is it because California, some parts, is going down the toilet with homelessness and crime and high taxes? I loved the Pacific Coast Highway and walking the Golden Gate Bridge when we went for a visit.

I have property in the Philippines but i dont plan to retire there . I still love to live here specially i have formed a life time friends started way back University days in the Philippines and they all live here . I have relatives that are of the same age as me . But the most part I want to be part of the life of my grand children someday . Your video is very relatable . Beautiful editing too . Your narration is soothing to listen to.❤

Sometimes, we need to learn to embrace change because nothing in life is permanent. As we grow older, things change, and we must accept these changes. Material things are temporary and offer only convenience, not lasting happiness.
Great sharing of life events and experiences!!! Thats what filipinos are!!! If we could only have a great gov’t im pretty sure our is one of the best among southeast asia country…. Philippines is rich with our ofw who are sending dollars…
24 years in the States. I'll miss the beaches of Hawaii I call my backyard for 14 years and my mom and sister, I will miss living next to the mall here in Washington State, the dog friendly park, but what I will not miss living here is the gloomy weather, my body likes the heat and my mental health likes the sun all year round. 10 years is living with SAD I can't do it anymore. 😮💨 Iba pa rin ang mga Pinoy sa Pilipinas, totoo talaga yung it's more fun in the Philippines, It's either move back to Hawaii or go straight to the Philippines. I want my son to go to school in the Philippines and have the filipino values and learn to be fluent in Tagalog.
Ok lang, wala yata kayong anak & grandkids.. I can’t retire sa PI dahil ma mi Miss ko ang mga anak & very young grandkids ko… Once a month we hang out, creating memories! Priceless! Enjoy your stay sa PI & GOD bless to both of you!!..
2 years after retiring in the Philippines....ang na miss ko lang yung weather, Walmart, Costco, Marshalls, outlets...PERO ok lng mas masaya pa rin sa Pinas❤

There's Tesla here already, you may like to buy one. 😊 And there are already charging infrastructure in malls. Madami na rin pong hybrid and electric cars in the Philippines.
Yup its cheaper to retire in P.I.. Your retirement money buys a lot in P.I. you can have katulong. You can also afford caregiver at home when you need help. Your social status improves, more friends and relatives.
Yes! I've been told there's Tesla in teh Philippines now. Thats' good to hear! I just wonder of the batteries will hold up to the traffic. Thanks for watching!!💚💚

Yes, I've heard of those energy saving inverters. Is that "only in the Philippines"?
Hi, we are also from the Bay Area and starting the "Meet and Greet" stage of our retirement (?) in the Phils. All I can say to both of you is...have patience, lots and lots of patience, and the way things are done in the Phils, my mindset is somewhat "It is what it is" 🙂. Best of luck and welcome back to our home country.
I guess it doesn't frustate us as much when it is the expectation. Agree. It is what it is. Thanks for watching.
That is so true. Wala namang perfect place. We can only follow what we feel is best for our circumstances. Thanks for watching!
Agree
Hello there Ati Gi! New subscriber from San Diego, You tuber din kami ni Mrs. Pero more in me ang mga technical, Bilib ako sa lahat ng mga technical work, from editing, music background and camera placement👏👏 same vision tayo, Retired sa Phil. while we are still healthy and able to walk around.
Salamat po! I try my best. Ganyan nga, habang malakas pa tayo, at kaya na naman, puede na tayong mag retire sa atin. Thanks for watching!!
You’re right with all those things to be missed in America. Good luck to your Philippine life. For sure masaya din naman sa pinas lalo na with family and friends.
i'm sure. life is what we make it. thanks for watching!
yes you are right about that ! 50 yrs here in east bay cali. not to mention, we have a clean air too and its a lot different to pinas.😊
Wow! 50 years! My best to you. Thanks for watching.
I am new subscribers po I love the way na in details po ang vlog ninyo at exited for the nxt episode na🤗
aww..! thanks, that's so good to hear. trying my best to give you quality videos to watch para di sayang oras nyo. Thanks for watching.
Totally agree! If we have joy in our hearts, no matter where we are, no matter what the conditions may be, we will be happy. Thanks for watching.
thank you po for your vlog very informative and gives us choices where to retire. Would love to retire in the Philippines in the future too.
I realize from the comments na marami din palang katulad natin who want to retire sa atin. Thanks for watching.
Love your channel, and nakaabang na ako sa new upload mo.
Thanks for watching.
It's a happy day as always you have great upload, always watching your videos, keep safe, sending my full support..
Thanks so much for your support 💚🙂💙
Kami naman, Ate Gi. Nagsisimula pa lang ang buhay Amerika… L-visa kami and just came 3 mos. ago. Godspeed sa pagbabalik mo po ng Pinas!
Enjoy your journey in the States. You will love it. It have given countless Filipinos a chance at a better life, or second chances. My best to you. Thanks for watching.

Salamat! Ingat din kayo 💙💜
Well done. All good points to consider.
Thank you!
Yes, strategize on those retirement funds to minimize taxes. My best to you. Thanks for watching my videos!!
Ate Gi! I enjoy watching your channel. Panalo story telling. My wife and I have 10 more years to go to retire. We are still undecided if we are to retire sa Philippines. So pls. continue building this chanel even pag retire na kayo sa Philippines. 🙂
💛💚 Enjoy your journey in the States. And kahit saan kayo mag-retire, basta together kayo, that's the most important thing. Thanks for watching!
New subcriber po. ❤❤❤

Hello 😊 Thanks for dropping by!
Planning to retire next year as well. Nice blog!
Thanks for watching. My best to you on your retirement.
Good luck with that ...I tried staying sa atin for good for a year but it did not work out well for me so I'm back in the States. Maybe it will be different for you
I hope that it will be different. Thanks for watching.
I like your blogs thanks for sharing.
…and thanks for watching ❤️💙
Aww..! I'm glad you're enjoyng the vlogs. Lapit na kayong umuwi!! sarap! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for your input. I value what every comment bring here. Thanks for watching.
It's our Filipino culture to be helpful all the time. Kaya nga Filipinos are known to be good, compassionate workers. That's the Pinoy at heart. Despite the cons, i think there's better quality of life sa atin. Thanks for watching.
They miss the organized chaos in the Philippines.
Politics.? Lol. politics has nothing to do about where they want to retire. Living in the US is stressful. Also there’s no place like home.
ang galing ng pagkagawa ng video,,... parang pro na pro.. ang galing din ng voice over nya..
Ako mami miss ko yung four seasons (winter, spring, summer at fall)
ang favorite ko, spring! Like now 💚.
You seem to have your plans set up. My best to you! Thanks for watching.
So true ❤
Good luck 🍀 to your retirement plans 🇵🇭🇺🇸🇵🇭
thank you!
Great suggestion! Thank you!
Don't comeback 😂 Philippines dont want you
Hi po! New subscribers po from Winnipeg, Canada. Inspiring po ang vlog nyo.
Salamat for subscribing! Thanks for watching.
Enjoy retirement, your travels ang being together. My best to you! Thanks for watching!
I love this!
Thanks Chinky💜💙💜
It's a case to case basis. Yes, it varies from our experiences. You are all correct because there is truth in what each person have been through.
I totally agree. Thanks for watching!!
Hahahaha!
That's amazing! You are the living the life I want to live when we finally retire. Enjoy each day!! Thanks for watching.
Same with homedepot and lowes with 1 year warranty for plants. Keep your receipts though.
Kakatuwa ang return policy nila, no? Thanks for watching!
Happy retirement po❤
Salamat po!
Hehe. Sana next content po ay tips on how to prepare for retirement like yung mga pinagpaguran natin na ss at 401k.
You know, this is a great idea and it may be what my next video will be about. Salamat!! Thanks for watching.
Yes po its gonna be different.you just have to accept what Philippines offer.its not for everybody.but for sure money goes far.Goodluck po😇
Totally aware about our country's kakulangan. I've lived with that before, I can live with it again. Salamat ha!
I love 😍 love your show.. I have been here for 37 in California. We are planning to go back in the Philippines for good.
American dream is gone. . 😢😢
Is it because California, some parts, is going down the toilet with homelessness and crime and high taxes? I loved the Pacific Coast Highway and walking the Golden Gate Bridge when we went for a visit.
We know in our hearts when it's time to move back, no? Thanks for watching.
Hi Gi. New sub here, just discovered your channel. It showed on my recommendations I didn't know you're doing vlogs pala. I'm really enjoying your videos. I'm from 4-green pala, I don't know if you'll remember me.

I love your vlog..who edit your videos? It’s so cool!
Hi! I film and edit the videos myself. I’m glad you like them. Thanks for watching!
It’ll be “hard” sa first few years of living here. Good thing with us is we can go back and forth from Pinas and US whenever we want:-)
It's such a blessing to have that flexibility to go back and forth. Thanks for watching!
What i will miss things ? like drive thru banks, drive thru food places, drive thru pharmacies , drive thru almost everything. You can use apps to make a dri appt, med test results etc.
Very True same here
Of course the weather, the peoples decipline,Security ,good environment !

It's so important that you love what you're doing. Enjoy your journey. Thanks for watching.
Sometimes, we need to learn to embrace change because nothing in life is permanent. As we grow older, things change, and we must accept these changes. Material things are temporary and offer only convenience, not lasting happiness.
you are correct.
Most important of all is you will miss no tollways.
There’s a lot of tollways in Philippines, but you aren’t paying $8-10 to cross one small bridge.
You are an inspiration
Awww. Hindi naman po. Pero Salamat po for watching.
Well said my dearest♥️🙏🏽see you in Manila soon
Mariel E.?
Ingat palagi Ate
Great sharing of life events and experiences!!!
Thats what filipinos are!!!
If we could only have a great gov’t im pretty sure our is one of the best among southeast asia country….
Philippines is rich with our ofw who are sending dollars…
Idagdag mo ba rin yung better weather, although umiinit din pero hindi humid at hindi malamok 😊
That's true! Thanks for watching.
Even in Homedepot , you can return plant if it dies .
Yes ❤️💙 another viewer made that comment.
I hope your son would consider studying in the Phils. It will also save you a lot of money kasi mas mura sa atin mag college. thanks for watching!
I like your voice ate Gi. I have similar BB purse ❤. I also love Costco. My ecar I call her Gildzy, kapareho ni Tekla.
sosyal ang name ng e-car mo. lol!! thanks for watching!!
That is so priceless! I heard being a Lola is better than being a Mama! My best to you!! Thanks for watching!!
2 years after retiring in the Philippines....ang na miss ko lang yung weather, Walmart, Costco, Marshalls, outlets...PERO ok lng mas masaya pa rin sa Pinas❤
You are missing 5 things. Konti lang! hahaha!! It's more fun in the Philippines talaga! Its the one advertisement by line that rings true. Thanks for watching.
oo maluwag nga ang return policy ng costco....kaya madaming umaabuso
oo nga, merong ibang inaabuso ang systema. Thanks for watching.
There's Tesla here already, you may like to buy one. 😊 And there are already charging infrastructure in malls. Madami na rin pong hybrid and electric cars in the Philippines.
May plug-in hybrid ba?
Yup its cheaper to retire in P.I.. Your retirement money buys a lot in P.I. you can have katulong. You can also afford caregiver at home when you need help. Your social status improves, more friends and relatives.
That’s true. 🙂
Agree 💯
They sell Teslas in the Philippines now. There are no charging infrastructure but if you have a house not really a problem.
Yes! I've been told there's Tesla in teh Philippines now. Thats' good to hear! I just wonder of the batteries will hold up to the traffic. Thanks for watching!!💚💚
Hi ate, i will address you as ate, wish you a good luck po. You can always come back and visit the US. My wife and i are still young, my target date of retirement is 55 but not sure if we will retire sa pilipinas. I am only 41 so its still a long way. My wife loved it here though so most likely we are here to stay😅😅😅
We're lucky to have options of retiring in the Philippines or here in the States. Swerte natin, no? Thanks for watching.
Hi po watching from missouri
hello po!!! thanks for watching!
I will definitely miss shopping and can return if it does not fit right or something is wrong with full refund .
Convenience talaga ang mamimiss ng mga nasanay na tumira sa U.S. pero madali naman tayo maka adapt kaya ok lang yan. If you don't mind po pala ibebenta niyo po ba si Tekla?
No place like home Malaga. It’s my plan also, to retire in the Philippines at the age 62. Anyway, I’ve been living to Hawaii almost 30 years.
Hawaii! My favorite place! My best to you in your retirement plans! Thanks for watching!!
We have similar plans. I am still in the process of convincing my husband, who is an American, to retire in the Philippines. He is still a little bit hesitant.
It’s understandable why he’s hesitant. I hope he re-considers someday. My best to you. Thanks for watching!!
new subscriber here nakakatuwa ka po magkwento prang mama ko lng hehe
lol! I'm sure pag nag-meet kami ng mommy mo, masarap kwentuhan namin. Thanks for watching.
