    Faster, cleaner and with one huge improvement I didn't see coming, but I highly appreciate it. I'm going to show you that at the end of this video. I managed to get my hands on the newest Divi 5.0 beta release with the new interface. Now, the new interface was nothing at all that Elegant Themes ever told us before. Let me quote Nick Roach CEO of Elegant Themes. This is just a reskin of the UI. We decided to make this initial change now instead of waiting for Divi 6 because, it's a relatively easy update that will help showcase Divi's new focus on speed and efficiency. We haven't done any major testing or polishing the UI yet. So what about this new interface, guys? Do you like it or do you hate it? Tell me in the comments already. I'm going to walk you through all these settings to show you what is actually does. Well, of course, we have the page settings over here, which is not new in Divi 5 because in Divi 4 you already have here the page settings, it's just right there. Its the same thing, with just some new layout in here. You can go to design. advanced, drag this and dock it to the left side, or I can drag it and dock it to the right side like this. And your menu is always over here. These animations, they take some time. In Divi 5 you won't see any animations at all. It is on or it is off like this. You can dock it to the right side, like this or you can dock it on the left side. whatever is the best for your own workflow. I really like this. You have the layers section, you have the wireframe view, which is also the same in Divi 4, but as you can see, the speed of this is just stunning. If I go to my Divi 4 and I go to the wireframe view, I have to wait a couple of seconds before things fall into place. Never mind switching to tablet view or mobile view. It's just... it just feel a little bit clunky, Divi 5 when you just switch to your phone view, tablet view, desktop view, it doesn't even have to render it again for my feeling, it's just it's there. It's already there, it's already been there and I can switch seamlessly between the four of them. It is just no problem at all. Then we have, of course, the hover mode. Nothing new in here, just the way you work with the elements, but you also have the click mode when you click on it, it just stays there and it also opens directly, which is in Divi 4, If you want to switch between, click modes, you have to click in here, and we enable all these buttons, and then we go to click mode, for example. Then I click on this and then again I have to click on this module settings or my row settings. It doesn't open up automatically. It's saves me a lot of clicking, and I don't want to click as much as I do now in Divi 4. That's a huge improvement which I really like and appreciate. Something that we saw in demo was this breadcrumb. This is actually pretty useful. I can now, from my blurb settings in here, I can quickly go to my row settings in there. That is actually a big improvement. And then we have the grid mode, which is nothing new. Also, if if you also have the grid mode over there, but when you use the grid mode as you can feel it, it just.... you can see that it's not very smooth anymore, because of the way Divi 4 works. In Divi 5, you won't see anything with that, it's just really smooth and it just works. And it's great. If you go into the module settings, you can also just change to tablet mode, phone mode and desktop modes and also hover mode, which is new...

    Regarding skipping the step in 6:58. We always Divi Theme Options > Builder > Advanced > Enable Classic Editor to avoid that. I think that is what you are asking for. It brings up the wireframe view by default instead of that extra step.

    Awesome video! Can you do one about conversion of a Divi 4 site to 5. Struggling to get a straight answer from ET. Our understanding is Divi 4 shortcodes are not "converted" really to 5, just made "compatible" with a performance hit. Wondering why a client would convert to Divi 5 then unless it's the only way to get critical updates like security, bug fixes, etc. In essence will Divi 4 people be forced to chance to Divi 5?
    We have a few top tier clients who need site updates and we have been telling them to hold off for 5, not to develop on 4 and then have performance loss or conflicts with 5. But those clients can't wait forever without any solid ETA from ET.
    Also, can you speak to how Divi 4 marketplace plugins work or bomb in Divi 5?
    Thanks.

    • @WPressDoctor
      @WPressDoctor  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Mark and Alison again! Thanks for your good questions. I don't work with Elegant Themes, but what I have seen so far is that existing Divi 4 sites will be 'converted' upon activating Divi 5. That explains the speed change and the fast UI. But I don't know exactly how this will go when its the final release...
      I understand though, I have a lot of clients asking me to build the site in Elementor Pro, because of Divi is just going WAY to slow. I have told Elegant Themes many times, but we are actually losing the war right now to Elementor. And I don't mind, because that is also a great builder, but I do like the lifetime license of Divi 😉.
      About the marketplace, all developers are actively enabled to fix all their plugins for the last months. So there is no excuse why it would not work in Divi 5. If it bombs, the developer just choose to not update it and abandon it. This happens all around the WordPress eco-system, so yeah...
      Have a great day and I wist you all the best with your business!

    • @stiescreativeagency
      @stiescreativeagency 4 місяці тому +1

      Getting mixed messages from Elegant about 4 to 5. 4 shortcodes will run in 5 but unless converted they will suffer performance loss. Of course, converting you run the risk of layout and functionality issues especially as an early adopter.
      One MAJOR criticism we have of Elegant is their main focus is always new features. They don't address bugs and quirks so you put in workarounds, primarily through CSS. As they release fixes those workarounds get problematic. So after a few years each client site is full of ducktape workarounds. This is my main concern in converting 4 content to 5, the accumulated workarounds and quirks. We'll see. We applied for a beta testing license and never heard back.

    One thing that I don't like is the auto-save for module changes.
    I've often made changes to see how different styling looks and then cancelled them again if they didn't work. Now with the auto-save, there's no way to "quit without saving" when testing different settings in the modules...

      I see this theme Clotya is very popular for online clothes retailers and looks good enough on a screen. However, I have no reviews on its technical features: speed, lightness, online appearance stability, and etc - those qualities come as of utmost importance, and it feels as more suitable for huge stock inventory in different categories - this is not what I am after. Hi there! Thanks for your comment. Yeah I have compared the two recently: ua-cam.com/video/fjhVijhiQtI/v-deo.htmlsi=eF99N_QrTKZlAVk- so then you can make a well informed decision 😀👍🏻 There are some up and down to both of them, but I have to agree, Elementor is a bit better now! 👍🏻

    Do one thing for me... go to any settings panel, place your cursor in a field someway down the page... and press the key combination [shift]-[tab]. If the cursor DOESN'T go into the previous settings field (which would be the correct behaviour... never seen in Divi... ever) then the "new improved UI" is BS. Cheers

      Hi there! Thanks for the comment! This sounds like normal shortcuts indeed. Doesn’t it does that? That’s strange… well maybe they can still put it in, I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♂️. Have a great day and take care!

    6:55 - no, it should be like this. I only use DIVI for making templates, not entire pages and posts. I don't want divi editor when I'm publishing a page or post. I'm using gutenberg for this. Why? Imagine when you will need to migrate your website in the future to other template. And imagine having all pages and posts made in DIVI. I made this mistake in the past and never again.

      Hi SirMiluch, thanks for the comment. Yeah that would be a disaster! As long as they don't move away from the shortcodes, we indeed have to keep this in mind! Have a great day and take care 😁

      @@WPressDoctoryes, i love divi, i use divi engine as well, but elementor has most of the features INBUILT like loops etc.
      Also Elementor has Grid and Flexbox! For people who want to improve and learn in webdesgin its really good to understand the CSS first in a page builder, which is later easily applied to custom css in a website. I only use wordpress/woo for shops.
      I would highly appreciate a elementor pro video :) Right now switching and learning elementor but its going really good since its really intuitive

    DIVI is and will always be garbage. Always needing to use CSS and all kinds of hacks to make it work properly, especially when it comes to responsive design.

      Hi there! Thanks for your comment! I totally agree on that, it could improve drastically. That’s why I created this video: ua-cam.com/video/fjhVijhiQtI/v-deo.htmlsi=XLD7kzBQ8-_qjaeE
      😀👍🏻
