Hey guys, what's up? It's Matt and in this video we're gonna check out the front end speed of Divi 5. On my last video a lot of you guys asked me "What about the speed on the front end?" We're gonna check this out in this video right now.
And we're gonna test it out on this website my remake of the Tesla website in Divi. And it works still of course. Great. In even with the Divi 4 builder you can create this with your own hands, it is fairly easy to do so. Alright let me show you I have no caching installed on this website whatsoever. I even don't have a lot of plugins on this site. It's just iThemes Security, it's deactivated and Site Access is also deactivated. So we should be good with this test, should be really clean. Also for this test we don't have any scripts running on this website so we can also disable this all. Now let's create a benchmark with all the testing tools to see the front end speed. We're gonna run Page Speed Insights. We're also going to run GTmetrix analyze. And of course Pingdom Web Speed. Now let's see what the Benchmark is. So here we go, we have on the Page Speed Insights wpressdoc.com we have a 67 - Divi out of the box, no caching plugins whatsoever. 67 and desktop 91. Good actually. Let's go for GTmetrix. Oh it's also pretty good. I'm not disappointed actually. And Pingdom is actually the least impressed with a performance grade of 76. All right let's go to the themes, we're gonna add in our Divi 5. Upload theme here we go, Divi 5 Dev Alpha number 8. I'm gonna press install now. Replace active with uploaded oh yeah here we go man. Go to Themes page. Well let's not use my child theme, let's only use this theme, Divi 5 Alpha Release, here we go. First we're gonna check out our site. How does it work with our new Divi 5. Well this looks great. Everything still works, buttons still work. Let's edit it with Divi. Oh the website is really feeling fast right now. Great, everything works. Yeah just as it was, really fast and responsive. All right let's save this page. And then we go exit visual builder. Actually everything still works as the way it's intended. Model X here we go. Now I can remember one of you guys also asked "What about all the shortcodes, are there gone in the background?" Well there's one way to see this very clearly. Let's go to edit page and we go over here to revisions. Let's see the current revision because I saved the page again in Divi 5. Here we see on the left side we see the old Divi 4 with all kind of shortcodes. And here you see on the right side you'll see Divi 5 in action with actually no shortcuts at all. A real different kind of way to build. Remember it's still a alpha release, so it's not the definite version, but we're getting there. Some guys of you also asking "Can you show us the back end of this page, the page Source right now?" Well of course we can do that. Just go into here, view page source. This is the page source of the Divi 5 Alpha release. 430 lines of code and some scripts inside of their. All classes and divs. Well that's just it. But now we are curious of course what about the page speed? So we go to Page Speed Insights over there. I'm gonna copy this, open in a new tab and run this. And then we press analyze again. Also with GTmetrix, copy it go into a new tab, paste it in and let's retest it. Also with Pingdom, copy it, open up a new tab and we're gonna start to test again....

    Hi Matt,
That was a Great video - Love seeing Divi getting better.
I do have a couple of questions:
    1. Do you know when Divi is going to release it's Final version?
    2. Can you Please create a video on How to add Tooltip (Affiliate disclosure) to all Blog Posts using Divi?
    Thank you, Matt, ❤

Hi James, thanks for your kind words, really appreciate it. When it will be released, we don't know for sure, but I'm counting on black friday 😊. Tooltip to blog posts? That's a good idea, I'll add it to my video list. Have a great day and stay safe!

At 2:56 you show revisions and it looks like what we are seeing what we get in terms of tag commenting to delinieate all the elements, similar to the block editor. If we inspect this on the frot end how much nesting is now involved? And, in terms of HTML tags is this now more in line with proper conventions, for example a section should be marked up as a section and not as a class which Divi currently does. Also are all those styles inline in terms of output. One of the criticisms apparently with the block editor, but I suppose we should be using the preset system.
I'm looking at the Bricks builder at the moment in relation to some online Kevin Geary videos and he is pointing out how a lot of page builders aren't structured for professional workflows. I am hopint that Divi 5 will adress a lot of the shorcomings implied.

Hi Stephen, thanks for your concerns and great questions. I sure hope that to! We just have to sit and wait for it... but I must admit that it DO takes a lot of time...

      Hi Matt,
I sent off some of my concerns to Elegant Themes suport. To say that the reply was inspirational would by an overstatement. The basic response was that all builders do things differently and this is the way that Divi does it and it follows WordPress convention. Now if one has been tuned into the preachings of Kevin Foy and the more gently persuasive Dave Foy, even WordPress isn't folowing proper site building convention when it comes to html maekup and the application of css. Now I am not averse to bending the rules a little to make things work but I do expect, where feasible, for tools to stick to the rules. As we may have dealing with suport at a lower level maybe higher up the food chain, behind the closed doors of the developer lair at ET, the plans and intentions are different.
Can you look again at my request to inspect the html rendering on the front end in Chrome to see if Divi 5 sections are now correctly tagged as and notthe et-class version? Also is the nesting, runnign from to the first section reduced?
In the meantime I am considering moving to Bricks till Divi catches up.
By the way having a look through Kevin Geay's and Dave Foy's videos on best practice is worth it and much of this can be applied to Divi with workarounds.

Awesome, love your divi 5 videos. Cant wait for the full release. But im a bit scared. i think my divi engine Plugin uses shortcodes to display my own Category on the Website "Recipes" which i created with divi engine aswell. Should i import it to posts before switching to divi 5? or dont i have to worry

@@WPressDoctor, thank you 😊 cause there is only one thing I don't love about Divi, and it is that there are no prebuilt rows and sections like in other page builders, and that even if I do save some sections, I can't see them properly, but I can see only the name of the section... if they fix that I will be so happy 😊 I already bought lifetime Divi, so I plan on sticking with it for long term 😊 but having prebuilt sections and rows would actually be so helpful 😊

    • @WPressDoctor

Does the generated code decrease significantly compared to the previous code with short codes?

Hi which server do you suggest, apache or litespeed servers for DIVI websites for better performance

    • @WPressDoctor
      @WPressDoctor  10 місяців тому

Hi there and thanks for your question! Well it totally depends on your hosting company. Some work really fast with Apache and some are blazing fast with litespeed. There is a lot more that comes into play here. Security and high traffic loads are also issues for example. I’m theory litespeed could work better with Divi, but if you don’t have enormous amount of traffic… I don’t think you’ll notice any difference…. But as always - you have to test it.
