It looks like Alcatraz with all the hardware cloth wrapped around, inside, outside, around...over and under..and stapled and hammered and covered with cement...if a fox raccoon or possum gets its grubby little claws inside our hen house, then by God, it was meant to be🥺

For you people saying to shot the fox: the fox is an animal, SURPRISE animals need to hunt and when they see those chickens they see a feast just sitting there, so of course they're gonna eat it because SURPRISE instincts.

It's the best way to let them kill and eat your poultry, not only because the predators are able to get in but because chickens are not able to escape anywhere. When a fox attack a flock of chickens outside it can catch only one specimen (if it's lucky) while all the others run and fly away and hide themselves or find a refuge. Chickens use to sleeps on trees, it's how they protect themselves from attacks. All similar birds do that (turkeys, peafowl, pheasants, etc.) while waterfowl sleep on the borders of a pound/lake, ready to get into the water if a danger approaches. if you want to have poultry, please build up or buy a real, robust poultry house and lock up every door and window during the night.
Yes. I have had the chickens our in the garden at times and occassionally forgot to let them in. Then I would find them up in hedge and trees in the morning. It is awfull how the coop makes it possible for the fox to kill them all as you are absolutely right: there is no way the fox can catch more than one as the rest easily can fly up to higher grounds and be out of harms way. I felt so bad when I watched the surveillance clip the following morning of this incident.
I just got my chickens... wish it showed how the fox got in, but I will be outside with a .38 in a tent beside my coup the first few nights (ain't no fox gonna feed me!)... I completely free range my birds without fencing on several acres way up north, but I have multiple large roosters for defense. It brings my food cost's down to an extreme level as they forage for anything they want on green pasture all day, people spend so much money on protection and then so much money on food because of a isolated closed habitat, predators will always find a way or eventual make a way over several visits trying to get in.
This happened to my chickens when a fox broke in, nobody died but the 4 roosters present in there showed their velociraptor side, they take no prisoners ans the fox lost both eyes.

A few weeks back I woke up to frantic clucking outside my window. My dad, step Mom, little brother and I walked out to a sea of feathers and two fox hounds cashing my chickens. Thankfully, none were killed but one of them was seriously injured. After that we shot the dogs with a bb gun and locked them up in extra kennels we had. After that we posted an add on every form of social media saying whoever's dogs these where to pick them up within the next day or they'd go to the pound. Eventually the dogs went to the shelter and after that I stand guard ready to hurt anything that comes near my girls. Mama's gonna protect her girls by any means necessary.

Wow, that stinks. I got tired of coyotes walsing into my barn and taking chickens, and rats coming up and chewing through concrete (it was old, but still). I made a chicken shed just for them, and placed hardware cloth along the bottom to prevent rats chewing up into it, and I close it off completely at night (aside from their ventilation). If they still get attacked, it will be during the day in their open yard, and maybe I will have a chance to save them. Wild things should just eat wild things.

This happened to me it killed all of my chickens so we got new ones and it come again and killed 1 more out of the 4 we had so because I know that it would come back the next night I sleeped with them and it come in and I CHOCKED THAT BASTED till he was dead 💀

Watched a fox snatch up one of my hens but I just yelled "hey fox" and it dropped her. She came out of shock 10 minutes later, and they all survived

Nope. He had all the time in the world to take all 4 of them.
I lost 15 chickens in 2 days! I was at my cottage and come back and there were only 6 left!!

ghayath2011 Foxes are opportunists. When they find a flock, they will take every chicken if they have the time, carry them off and eat them all over time or share them with a mate and or babies.

Easy meal right there, can't blame the fox it's what they do. I killed a grey fox that got in my coop a few years back, they will reek havoc on some chickens, lost 12 birds at one sittin'.

I love it! The chaos is absolutely fantastic. Lunch time came for the very clever fox. It probably has little ones at home to feed. Most owners should understand that at times all their dumb chickens will be ripped to shreds. It's normal. People want chicken 🐔 for dinner, and so do the marauding creatures around them.
Humans don't think twice about stealing from the larders of the wild animals themselves, so turnabout is fair play, eh wot?

happened in my chicken coop too, but in my coop it was a dog instead of a fox son of a b**** killed 35 of my hens

I have a 22 mag with "shot shells", not as good as the 410. Just the same, the best thing, seriously man--the best thing is make a good shelter that the fox can't get into. After all, the fox is only trying to feed her young --can you really blame her for that? But if you keep her out, build a good pen--that's it, she will try once, not get in and give it up.
This happened to me it killed all of my chickens so we got new ones and it come again and killed 1 more out of the 4 we had so because I know that it would come back the next night I sleeped with them and it come in and I CHOCKED THAT BASTED till he was dead 💀
