Can we just give some massive credit to Deep Roy? Guy did every single Oompa Loompa in every single shot with little to no CGI. Guy put in a ton of effort and even learned to dance for this film.

That's actually perfect, except for Mike, even though he likes watching TV and playing video games, his "Sin" is not related to Sloth, he is shown over and over with extremely angry and violent behavior. He has anger issues and and very antagonistic behavior like he want to fight or looks for reasons to fight. I don't think any of the kids resemble "Sloth".
Willy Wonka is supposed to be Wrath because of his angst towards the adults and the concept of a family Charlie is supposed to be Lust not for sexual temptation but for extreme desire for chocolate and of course the factory Envy would be Slugworth and the other competitors

I remember having this DVD as a kid and being obsessed with the songs. There were special features that tried to teach you the dances and I was so dedicated to trying this one and Violet's.
My parents find it hilarious that I actually know and mimic the dance number for Agustus Gloop specifically, though that's the only one as I didn't watch the dvd feature.

Like you pointed out, the vacuum would asuffocate Augustus, not to mention all other nasty stuff that would happen to his body, but he seems perfectly able to breath. Then there is the fact, that there is building presure below Augustus from the incoming chocolate. If it were a sucktion, Augustus blocking the pipe would prevent any chocolate to be sucked into the pipe. But since there is building enough pressure till Augustus gets loose, it means the chocolate must be pumped through. My theory on this is, that the pipe gets conected to a pump in the river, that pumpes the chocolate through the pipe

I'm simply going to conclude it on the fact that this is a movie and it doesn't follow the rules of pipe machinery all too well. It seems as if the movie wants it to seem pumped but also air suctioned. Hell, perhaps it could be both. I'll create a better theory: The initial starting phase of the extraction requires a suction force and acts as a kick start which then transfers to a pump that pushes the rest of the chocolate from below the pipe as the finishing phase. There are, by my count, eighteen Oompa Loompas visible in that shot. That means that Deep Roy shot each one of their movements separately. He was filmed doing the same exact thing in different positions on the set AT LEAST EIGHTEEN DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THIS ONE SHOT! And that’s not even mentioning the wide shots in this scene where you can see far more, as well as the other Oompa Loompa songs where even more are seen. In conclusion, Deep Roy deserved some sort of Oscar for this film. The amount of time, dedication and effort he put into playing the Oompa Loompas was absolutely incredible. This is an actor who enjoys his craft and wants to get it right so much that he was willing to film the choreography for each song countless times until he and Tim Burton were happy with it. Even if there was no specific category for what he did, they should have made some special award for him to recognise all the time and effort that went into this. I will forever admire Deep Roy for this. That is all, have a good day everyone
He wasn't. If you look at some behind the scenes videos, you'll that Deep Roy had to do each individual OL several times to get them right, until Burton decided to implement indentical animatronics of him later on. It was very exausting for him.
I feel so bad for Mrs. Gloop. She was the most upset of all the parents. Aside from letting her son eat too much, she wasn't a really shitty parent compared to the others. She seemed to be very devoted to her son.
She did love him, but she was also horrible in her own way. That kid was going to have weight problems all his life, including all the medical, psychological, and emotional problems that go with it. He also will likely have little self-restraint because his parents never taught him. Just because you love your kid doesn’t mean you’re not making massive mistakes in how you raise them.
Mr. Willy Wonka is definitely a sadist. He planned the whole thing and judging by his reactions he was having the time of his life watching the kids get tortured. lmao
