I'm well use to it Ross and those trout seem to like the shore line where the wind is blowing in, hopefully I get a few more days there before it closes, I'm only 45 minutes away. Thanks for comment and watching 👍
You both did well in those conditions, getting some off the top too - nice to see the take off the top. We have a loch with rainbows but it’s like they went down the plug hole in Aug, I should go and try for one as we can fish on til end of Nov. All the best.
@highlandfishingdiary8818 that fishery is about 45 minutes from me, what I like about it is the fishing can be good with the dry fly, and plenty of room with only 3 boats available. I will probably put up another video where I was out on my own. Thanks for comment and watching 👍
Another nice video Joe. Well done, great visual fishing on the dries when you get it. You were hard on that lassie at the start. Nae time for chattin! Quite right, especially when fish are moving. 😂 Looking forward to your next adventure. 👍👏🏴 I'll give this loch a go when Im over next May. Cheers Joe.
Got my first trout there in June 1965 on a small Meps - that time it was one of the few stocked lakes in Ireland - fish were all about 3/4 lb termed "hybreds".
@@russellpoole3151 often wondered what they were as they did not look like rainbows. I ws ten and a day not forgotton - my Dad got two and a cousin 4 on fly.
I was getting a lot off offers to the dry but not connecting, dropped leader diameter to 0.15mm and it made the difference, even in the big wind they were spooky. Thanks for comment and watching Evelyn 👍
@@JoeQuinnFollow_the_fln what make and strength of fluorocarbon do you use I struggle with it as the knot strength is no good any advice would be appreciated
i enjoyed that Joe keep it up
Glad you liked it Raymond, thanks for comment and watching 👍
That was some multi tasking.. Motoring the boat whilst playing a fish.. Fair play Joe 👏.. Bonnie scraps off those fish too

I went trout fishing in Ballinlough not so long ago, but it was Ballinlough in Co. Roscommon... I didn't know there was a Ballinlough near Westport
It's the lake that's called Ballinlough, thanks for comment and watching 👍

Thanks for comment and watching 👍 Ewan, lake should be fishing well when you are over in May as it will only be open on May 1st

They were salmon x trout hybrids stocked by the Salmon Research Trust.

@russellpoole3151 apparently they were great sport when you got one, I didn't fish it back then
Lovely video Joe is this lake open over the winter I might go up for a look if it is
Unfortunately Adam it closes the end of this month, thanks for comment and watching 👍
You made some of those catches look easy, which I'm sure they weren't, given the conditions.

that lake is my local fishery and me and my mate fish it every 2nd week... my biggest fish was a 5 pound rainbow
Thanks for comment and watching 👍 I'll be fishing it next year more often myself, I've a couple of more videos to put up off fishing it
