Here's something that would blow your mind. As you know, in the Arabic culture, especially as we go back a few hundred years, women were (in many ways) very protected and very shielded to where in some cases they were almost too sacred or holy to talk about, like a very private position if I may say, especially when it comes to the mother, wife, and sisters. It is to the point where most men today would still get offerended if you ask them what their mother or their wife first name is and they'd refuse to tell you. Most would not even address their women with their first names. They would say om (meaning the mother of) followed by the name of her oldest male child! So hundreds of years ago, when a man wrote a poem about the women he loved, he would refer to her as "he" instead of "she"!! Kinda similar to not say the name of God in vain! So, that tradition continued until very very recently (not so much today anymore). But you would notice in this song that the male writer of the song refers to the woman he loves as a "he", and the male singer sings about the woman he loves referring to her as "he" as well. So, did you ever wonder why the singer for example says: "his" smile deceived me when he was talking about a his woman??
That's why.
It's interesting, fascinating, and messed up!!
I am wholeheartedly grateful to for shedding light on this matter and I believe it is nothing but honor and respect towards the female gender.

"Gabbar" here means very powerful and ruthless.
In arabic poetry “him” means “her” when its a male singing. He is singing about a girl betraying him.
True! In Arabic sometimes in songs especially we refer to the female by him! For example, a male often sings (Habibi) not (Habibti)
The first singers say “her” in Arabic songs is Mohammed abdo
Him and he can be Gender-Neutral in Arabic
Gabbar somthing like she is mighty in her goodness or her unjust
I suggest also the video of Morrocean/Egyptian singer Samira Said "mahasalsh haga" & also the Egyptian singer Mohamed Abdelwahhab "dahet hanaya fedah" as I am sure you will love it so much.. many thanks for you.. I really enjoy your videos 😍

I advise you to watch the real video of the song
At 10min 30 they play several measures of Caravan. Composed in 1936 by Juan Tizol and Duke Ellington...
Abdel Halim is a great, giant artistic icon that time cannot decide again, believe me, and this is not an exaggeration .. from egypt 🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬
I am from Algeria and I was in high school when Haleem died the whole high school girls started crying, the whole Arab world mourned Haleem , his funeral was a big one, Haleem was the most romantic, sensitive, artist.
I used to cry every time I'm hearing this song since I was just a kid
now I'm 32 years old and still crying even more when I hear this

My fav singer ever , he is so special ♥️
Thank you for Egyptian singers👏♥️♥️🇪🇬
My sisters and I, although we are teenagers, but we love Umm Kulthum and Abdel Halim and we will forever listen to them that they are indeed a legend
This song from his movie jay. The story of the film is that Abdel Halim is a poor young man who works in acting, but his luck is bad because he takes short roles. He loves a famous actress and the day comes when he will stand in front of her on the stage and tell her words of love as written in the script, and she will know that he loves her very much and she also loves him. The love relationship between them begins until evil people set up a trap to make the actress stay away from him, then Abdel Halim begins to sing songs of sadness and reproach for her until he becomes a famous singer and in the world the truth is revealed and that she is wrong and they return to each other
abdel halim is known by his strong feelings and he make you feel the words through his voice.
Actually no one can sing like abdelhalim and um kalthum , not at their time nor this time , especially when they hold their breath in singing, it's actually hard to do it and to make a good result, plus abdelhalim can be a tender and also a powerful voice😍🌼❤👏 , may god bless them and take them to heaven,
Abdel Halim Hafez is very good at singing and acting... And this song is from a movie called(معبودة الجماهير) If you want to watch the movie, it is very beautiful, starring Abdel Halim Hafez and Shadia, one of the most wonderful Egyptian films
It’s from the movie
If you want to listen to another song for abdelhaleem Hafez that shows the strength of his vocals listen to “ hobak nar “
I think there is a misconception about Halim having a strong voice. His voice was never characterized as strong although he could sing high tones. He was mostly known about making male singing more romantic more simple pronouncing the words so everybody could sing it, like a predecessor of Amr Diab. He was a genius who simplified arab music who before he arrived was about long words and where male men had to sing in a certain way he, simplified it so today almost all arab male singers have soft voices.
@@Khaled4life although his voice was so tender and soft it was also so powerful in his high notes
@@gabermostafa4932 True, but that does’nt mean a strong voice. By “any composition” Abdelwahab mean that Halim was a genius in making any song his own. His voice was very simple but bird like, very enjoyable and sensational. But he did not have a strong voice, he is the reasons why Amr Diab and Hany Shaker exists, because before Halim such “weak” voices were not giving any chance. Hany Shaker himself said “I never knew I could sing untill I heard Halim”. That means his voice type had no chance if it was’nt for Halim who “forced” people to listen to a soft male voice.
We really love u from egypt big big love to u ❤️❤️❤️

By the way, most of these old Egyptian songs are part of movies, this is why they seem to have a story behind them.
Thanks brother. I think you are doing something wonderful in a very professional and sweet style. All best wishes from egypt.
I hope you read this ...
Of all Your reactions , this video is your best one yet .
You are very aware and focused on the meaning of the song .
Bravo.
Even though I don't comment on social media, you made me
you have to be aware of this, in Arabic poems sometimes the poet use HE instead of SHE and in this song all the HE must be translated into SHE while the poet wrote it HE
It’s the girl who destroyed the guy in love story of this movie. But, they kept loving each other through out the movie. It also has a very happy ending. Watched it multiple times. Love it.
Halim is one of a kind person with endless talents. He’s alive alive now and for ever. He gave his life for his craft. Love you always Halim🤗😘💗😍💕
As an Egyptian him trying to sing Arabic with the song was so hilarious 😂😂😂
Gabbar in this song mean cruelty with strength

Halim is to all Arab people a living LEGEND who no other singer comes clones to his voice, vocals, songs and Music ! Long Live Halim ❤️❤️❤️
All the Arab world lived his adolescence with Halim until now, all the love stories with its beauty and its torments
As well as his nationalistic songs that ignited our hearts in love stories of another kind
Love ur reaction to this song, gabbar was the first songs of hafez that i loved since i had 9 yo now i have 40 yo and it still my prefered one and also "do2o chamassi", hafez will always be the most romantic singer.
Me too. I love Abdel Halim from my age 9. Now i am 39
In the same movie he sing a great song called "balash etaab" it's so epic
the Moon is a symbol of beauty in a sort. so when you here them talk about the Moon in Arabic songs it always as beauty description of their lover therefor they're talking about their significant other.
One of his best 😍👍
This song was released in 1967 , ... 56 years ago .. can you imagine 😮😮😮😮😮
This is it, The most strong song A.E.H have ever did
Very nice and very good
I loved your reaction..as a fan of Abdelhalim I truly enjoyed listening to him with you.. thank you
I love it when jay at the beginning is always very concerned about the length of the video or how sad it is gonna be and then he engages with the song and at the end he wants to listen more :)
Wow I didn't even notice that! You are absolutely right.
Long videos are more difficult to edit and record than the short ones, and my Camera stops working when it overheats! I should buy a better camera but it is expensive and because of that I am trying to deal with the one one that I have now. Maybe that is why I am concerned about the length of the video. And sometimes people are complaining about the length of the video and they say that it is boring to watch all of it! So I just wanna give a heads up to those viewers 🙂
That's really nice, i didn't know you had all these issues to think about, it's not easy at all to listen to long songs in a foreign language you are doing a great job and i love your videos 🙂
I am really impressed by reading your comment. It is so valuable to know these detailed information and I am grateful to you for that🙏🙏🙏🙂🙂

My favourite Abdulhalem😍😍😍😍
The song is from a movie . And Halim ( his nickname) was just like a spark plug that ignited the imagination of his contemporary song writers and composers , so every song of his is an Arabic musical masterpiece.
This song is from "the masses' goddess" in 1967
You have to wach the movie 😍😍😍

Love your reactions. What inreally liked is that you made a bond with Halim and felt his feelings. That what made Halim one of the best if not the best arab singer starting form the 50s. Although he passed away, his lengend never dies and his records are wide spread till nowadays.

Gabar means "the absolute powerful" .
it actually was performed in a movie

GABAR finally, yes it was already a part of a movie, you'd better watch the original video ..He was singing this to Shadia , who made with Abdel Halim amazing duos.. Surprisingly, Shadia started her career way before Abdel Halim, and his biggest dream was to sing with her someday, and finally did it..creating one of the most adorable duos in the Arab music..
Rest in Peace Halim 😢
