It is funny that the director of the Olympia Theater at the time thought that one song by Umm Kulthum would last for 5 minutes at most, and when he asked her how many songs she would sing, she replied that she would sing two songs in each concert. He was shocked by her response, but he realized that one song would last for an hour and a half, and Paris continued to enjoy Umm Kulthum for five full hours.
I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO OUM KELTHOUM FOR 47 YEARS BECAUSE SHE IS A MIRACLE. HER VOICE IS CHARACTERIZED BY MANY FEATURES. EVEN MARIA CALLAS SAID THAT OUM KELTHOUM'S VOICE IS ICOMPARABLE. TAKEN AS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VOICE IN THE WORLD
She was in her sixties and did a tour around the world to bring money for the Egyptian army to help Egypt to fight against Israel to bring our sinai back , she was a strong patriot woman

Oum Kalthoum is a treasure. The composer for her and Abd Al Halim Hafez were Muhammad Abdel wahab and Baligh Hamdih, absolute geniuses Thank you for honoring our cultures most riveting artists!
You forgot Riadh Sonbati😤who would do that?!😳🤨 he composed a lot of her best songs! Besides, baligh composed only 3 songs for her. And my dearest Abdelwahab had a humongous ego 😅 he worked with her creating amazing songs, but he wasn't the one who created the most songs for her, but all of them were of course among the best of the best!❤❤ I love them very much, om kolthoum, Abdelwahab (as a singer and a composer of course), but my favorite om kolthoum composer is without a single doubt Riadh Sonbati! It was simply the geniuses period of time! We didn't see better or even something at the same level ever since😢. Music of this period, even all over the world was simply amazing!

Om Kalthoum - Inta Omry (You are my Life!) Your eyes took me back to the days that used to be (have gone), They’ve taught me to regret the past and its wounds. The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted, and they shouldn’t have been counted against me. You are my life, whose morning started with your light! You are my life! How much of my life’s time, before you, has gone and been spent. Habibi (my love), how much of my life’s time has gone, But the heart before you never saw a single joy, Nor has it tasted in the world other than the taste of wounds! I have only started to love my life now. I have also started to fear that life might run past me. My heart and mind met joy in the light of your eyes. Ye life of my heart, more precious than my life itself. Why Haven’t I met your love sooner? The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted, and they shouldn’t have been counted against me. You are my life, whose morning started with your light! You are my life! The beautiful nights, affection and love, The heart has saved them aside for you, since a long time ago. Taste with me the love, feel its bits and pieces, From the tenderness of my heart whose yearning for your love has reached its limit. Give me your eyes, where my eyes can daydream into. Give me your hands, where mine feel at ease upon touching them. Habibi (my love), come, what has passed us is enough already! The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted, and they shouldn’t have been counted against me. You are my life, whose morning started with your light! You are my life! Ye more precious than my days, ye more beautiful than my dreams! Take me to your love and keep me away from the world, Let’s go far away, just me and you, We shall wake up with love and sleep on affection. You made me come to peace with my life, And helped me forget my pain, and with you I forget all sadness. Your eyes took me back to the days that used to be (have gone), They’ve taught me to regret the past and its wounds. The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted, and they shouldn’t have been counted against me. You are my life, whose morning started with your light! Did you notice the distance between her and the microphone ? :) In her parties, Usually if the microphone was closer, it would have been damaged by the strength of her vocals :)
Especially for that song, she used to have a chair to sit on during the intro. The intro is 15 min long in the original full version of this song, composed by the great of all time artist Mohammed Abdel Wahab, it is the first work that gathered them together by the wishes of President Naser and basically everyone. They had a tiny clash where the intro was too long but the artist insisted on showing his talent as well as she shows her. This work was named "The meeting of Clouds" as two great of all time artists. Worth mentioning also that one of her old crew died around the sixties and she since then left an empty chair behind her where he used to sit as a memory of him. I advice everyone to listen to the music of that song after enjoying the strong voice of Umm Kulthum, a.k.a Egypt.
You are watching "Al-sitt", "The Lady of Arabic singing", "The fourth pyramid" ,"The Eastern Planet" and "The Greatest of All Time" 💙 Omm Kolthoum is our history, our love stories, our memory .. People from all around Egypt and arab countries used to dream about having a ticket to Omm Kolthum's party .. Enjoy her voice and greatness like we and our fathers and grandfathers did ❤️
By the time of that concert, she was in her seventies. My father had the privilege of attending many of her concerts. He often remarked on how extraordinary her voice was in person, a true marvel to experience. Given how expensive her tickets were, he would save for months to afford just one, and even then, they would sell out almost immediately.
Umm Kulthum drives me crazy when I listen to her songs. makes me say allllaaaah! I feel my heart dancing and full in deep love with her voice! gosh! I am lucky to understand Arabic!
The classics tell a story in just the orchestra alone. it starts slow and hypnotic, then dies down for the singer, then busts into a great bridge, has a few solos of a qanun in between and goes out like a train. there are many layers to it. this is why when I used to train bellydancers i would make them start with the classics so that they can recognize these layers until their bodies just move on their own. even if you dont understand the language, the voice just becomes another instrument.
You have my respect bcoz of your reaction for the greatest Singer ever in Egypt and alk the arab world . Really her voice is incredible even by the since measurements . A little while ago I was listening to this wonderful song and when I finished your video appeared and I was curious to watch it, I am proud to be an Arab and listen to this wonderful voice. Of course, you will not understand the words because the translation does not give 1% of the feeling in the words. And to mention the Paris concert, a funny situation happened with her. A young man attacked her on stage and tried to kiss her feet. During this situation, she fell to the ground. She is in her sixties. She is just a legend and something great for the Arabs. She is truly the fourth pyramid in Egypt and the Arab world. Thank you for this video and thank you for spreading our singing culture in its wonderful form. ❤

Om Kalthoom is the most famous singer in the Arabic world, not only in Egypt. I wish you would start with the start music before she starts singing. It’s a wonderful orchestra and very exciting and unique
Glad to see you reviewing Um Kulthum. Some things to note: The music is as much a part of the show as the vocalist, that's why there usually would be a whole 30min of pure music before the vocalist even begins to put the audience into mood (what arabs call "tarab", its like a musical high). Arab audiences are so different from their Western counterparts. In Arabian concerts, the audience adds cues and signals that a good performer uses to emphasize on certain verses... The performer may repeat certain passages, emphasize certain notes and basically improvise to fit the "tarab"
I am Lebanese and I grew up to listening to Oum khaltoum. She was blasting from every little lane, balcony, corner shop.etc at your Nan's house at your aunty"s your uncle's at your neighbour's house. What he's talking about after the 9 minute mark 💯. Talent back then was just undeniable, no cheating with vocal enhancing technology. Speakers weren't like now. The auditoriums they sang in were built magical. That's why I can never stop listening to the classics. No matter what country or language 😊
Love the word. Really Arabic speaking people are the only audience who could really know how deep and far the words go. It a treasure of poems she sang. If you covered her you would definitely love Mercedt Sosa of Argentina
Wow, her pitch range is amazing. One the versatile singer. In my country India, we too had a versatile, with heavenly voice playback singer. He sang as low pitch to the highest pitch. His sweetness in the voice would certainly capture souls. No matter what the situation of the scenes and song is, he dissolved himself like water. He's none other than the greatest ever lived Muhammad Rafi.
she is my favorite singer, I feel high when I listen to her❤️🥰😅 It's so nice seeing other people having the same feeling ( specially from The minute 10 to 12 ) 🥂
LIFE magazine wrote that if you want to know where Umm Kulthum stood in the Arabs you have to combine Eleanor Roosevelt with Marian Anderson and Ella Fitzgerald and Edith Piaf and Maria Callas and three other famous women whose names I can't recall now, to understand her position in the Arab world.
Powerful vocals, being Arabic I grew up to my parents listening to her, back then I had little appreciation for it. I was young and Arabic music made me cry constantly. Like I did the first time I heard the Beatles "Here comes the sun"! Now I don't mind crying to music at all. I do it on the regular.

"Oh God, bring us back to the best days and nights. We grew up listening to Umm Kulthum's voice. The homes would prepare for the first Thursday night of every month when she would sing on Egyptian radio. You'd find all the Egyptians on their balconies, holding their old radios and listening with all their hearts to that voice. And it wasn’t just the Egyptians, but the entire Arab world, from the Atlantic to the Gulf, eagerly awaited her on the first Thursday of every month."
I love the fact that I am Arabic guy and understand the letters that come out from her mouth 🎷🎷💚💚🪘🪘 قدي إيه من عمري قبلك راح و عدى يا حبيبي 💚💚 Don't even try to translate it from google translater XD
Her name consists of two words, Umm Kulthum, not just Umm. It is a feminine name, Umm, which means mother. We also use Umm to refer to ownership, and Kulthum means beautiful, plump cheek.
Her voice, poetry, and music transport you to an emotional ecstasy, free of any substance. You experience the purest form of love, as it was always meant to be. For me, it's God revealing the true feeling of love in its most ideal state.
The best part about her is that she is still the most listed to artist in Egypt, and you're very likely to hear her playing at any taxi or cafe you enter

He was shocked by her response, but he realized that one song would last for an hour and a half, and Paris continued to enjoy Umm Kulthum for five full hours.

I came across this video in the discover section, as soon as I heard Umm Kulthum, the old days came to mind. My mother was still alive, we would sit together and eat the kahya my father bought on Fridays, and my mother would make dolma for lunch. I got very emotional, I'm crying right now because this song reminded me of our good old days. American soldiers who tore apart millions of Iraqi families like mine, you will be held accountable to Allah.
Do you know she memorised the whole of the holy Qûran I believe this is why the phenoatics of her Arabic were flawless, may Allah rest all their souls, may God hold them to face justice ⚖️ Ameen

My Yemeni dad introduced me to Umm Kulthum. In 2023, I went to Egypt and listened to her music about why I was in Cairo.
So, it is healing to get in touch with your cultural ❤
Oum Kalthoum is a treasure. The composer for her and Abd Al Halim Hafez were Muhammad Abdel wahab and Baligh Hamdih, absolute geniuses Thank you for honoring our cultures most riveting artists!
They are all also known for their patriotic Egyptian songs, shaped Egyptian history.

She was called “El Set” in Egypt, which means The Woman. It is an ancient Egyptian word that translates as The Lady and signifies high respect and uniqueness
This is the beauty of the Egyptian culture, where two worlds meet, the ancient and the new, with 5000 years in between❤
El Sit means the lady, Al Sit also means in classical Arabic the respected and honored old woman

Umm Kulthum was called the Star of the East. Her voice is unparalleled, and despite the lack of technology in the past, her voice on stage is clear as if you were hearing it in a studio. Her songs will remain and will never die

Om Kalthoum - Inta Omry (You are my Life!)
Your eyes took me back to the days that used to be (have gone),
They’ve taught me to regret the past and its wounds.
The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted,
and they shouldn’t have been counted against me.
You are my life, whose morning started with your light!
You are my life!
How much of my life’s time, before you, has gone and been spent.
Habibi (my love), how much of my life’s time has gone,
But the heart before you never saw a single joy,
Nor has it tasted in the world other than the taste of wounds!
I have only started to love my life now.
I have also started to fear that life might run past me.
My heart and mind met joy in the light of your eyes.
Ye life of my heart, more precious than my life itself.
Why Haven’t I met your love sooner?
The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted,
and they shouldn’t have been counted against me.
You are my life, whose morning started with your light!
You are my life!
The beautiful nights, affection and love,
The heart has saved them aside for you, since a long time ago.
Taste with me the love, feel its bits and pieces,
From the tenderness of my heart whose yearning for your love has reached its limit.
Give me your eyes, where my eyes can daydream into.
Give me your hands, where mine feel at ease upon touching them.
Habibi (my love), come, what has passed us is enough already!
The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted,
and they shouldn’t have been counted against me.
You are my life, whose morning started with your light!
You are my life!
Ye more precious than my days, ye more beautiful than my dreams!
Take me to your love and keep me away from the world,
Let’s go far away, just me and you,
We shall wake up with love and sleep on affection.
You made me come to peace with my life,
And helped me forget my pain, and with you I forget all sadness.
Your eyes took me back to the days that used to be (have gone),
They’ve taught me to regret the past and its wounds.
The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted,
and they shouldn’t have been counted against me.
You are my life, whose morning started with your light!

Hello everyone. l am Ali Aljoundy from Syria and Umm koulthom is my favorite singer. l hear her songs every day
Did you notice the distance between her and the microphone ? :)
In her parties, Usually if the microphone was closer, it would have been damaged by the strength of her vocals :)
She was called
the lady
The harp of the East
One of the most beautiful strongest voices.
Ever
The star of east
Planet of East 😊
WOw, The harp of the East Sounds much cooler than Planet of east

Umm Kulthum drives me crazy when I listen to her songs. makes me say allllaaaah! I feel my heart dancing and full in deep love with her voice! gosh! I am lucky to understand Arabic!
So, did you studied Arabic?
The classics tell a story in just the orchestra alone. it starts slow and hypnotic, then dies down for the singer, then busts into a great bridge, has a few solos of a qanun in between and goes out like a train. there are many layers to it. this is why when I used to train bellydancers i would make them start with the classics so that they can recognize these layers until their bodies just move on their own. even if you dont understand the language, the voice just becomes another instrument.
You have my respect bcoz of your reaction for the greatest Singer ever in Egypt and alk the arab world .

Oh my God, the comments are really great, I have never felt so proud before as an Egyptian
Glad to see you reviewing Um Kulthum. Some things to note:
The music is as much a part of the show as the vocalist, that's why there usually would be a whole 30min of pure music before the vocalist even begins to put the audience into mood (what arabs call "tarab", its like a musical high).
Arab audiences are so different from their Western counterparts. In Arabian concerts, the audience adds cues and signals that a good performer uses to emphasize on certain verses... The performer may repeat certain passages, emphasize certain notes and basically improvise to fit the "tarab"
