That was a bummer about the speaker but appreciated the help from Arendal. As for the monitors I'm still impressed by the bookshelf speakers ability to hang with the rest of the family and while the measurements show the slight differences I do think that the bookshelf speakers are a good way to save some money for other ccomponents.
It’s funny how you and I are similar. I’m currently redoing my home theater setup and during my research after I make my selections of equipment I decide on I stumble upon your videos lol. Currently bought the Anthem mrx 740 and about to order a svs sb3000. I was looking into Arendal speakers at one point but I’m really leaning into some CSS audio for LCR.
You know it feels like that sometimes. Kind of when you start looking to buy a car and then you start seeing it on the road all the time. Congrats on the new and upcoming gear. I actually did look at CSS audio and GR research as well but ultimately I didn’t think I had enough experience or tools to make it look nice enough that my wife would be good with it. Not to mention the time and patience. I’ve heard good things about them but have not heard them personally. Best of luck and appreciate you checking out the video!
Hello again , please try the 1961 bookshelf (as it is) vs laid down monitor as center channel. It would be interesting to see what the bookshelf can do as center vs the MTM.
@@hdsaint79 Looking forward!! Another idea for the future is to upload a video related to the replacement of the tweeter. Do you have to disassemble the speaker? It would be nice to see the crossover parts.
@@Nickceidwell I said in the video if somebody would want to see that then I would go ahead and shoot it so will do that. Keep an eye out for that one too.
Interesting resolution on Arendal's part...The bad speaker is essentially new they should have offered a swap out for a new speaker. You are appear to be a kind soul and handy one many folks are not comfortable with going into a speaker and swapping out componets and at the price they charge you should not have to. I understand not wanting to deal with the shipping back the monitor aspect. I was considering these speakers based on all the glowing reviews but honestly my spidey sense said the is a lot of "giving away' or reduced cost for You Tube influencers shenanigans going on with this brand...I hope the resolutions outcome is to your satifaction.
Yes, I was a little surprised as well but to be fair they did ask if I was comfortable with switching out the tweeter so it's possible that they may have done something different if I would have said no. It did remind me though of stories that I have heard of SVS subwoofers. In some situations, they send out either a new woofer or amp for the customer to replace so it's kind of a similar situation. I totally understand the apprehension and when I decided to buy these they actually didn't have very many videos out there so made it harder for me to trust in going with them against other known brands. Once I got them I was very happy with them so I tried to do more videos on them but it seems like there are a lot more reviews out there now but I'm assuming that they are just trying to get their name out there. I hope you stay tuned for the follow-up video when the tweeter comes in and how well that goes.
For some reason I was thinking that the 1961 series had a 5 year warranty while the 1723 series had 10 years, but looking at their website now I see that they show all to have 10 year warranties. However, it is 5 years for the electronics. Maybe I looked at the information incorrectly?
@@RandomDistractionsYT well you’re the first negative review I’ve seen on this company and I’ve decided to upgrade my system with them. @@MikeSmith-rh5gc Sorry that it came across as negative, it's actually quite the opposite. While I am still on the fence about going with the 1961 monitors over the bookshelf speakers or even towers I still really like having the Arendals. Regarding the tweeter issue in a later video, I mentioned that it was my mistake but Arendal still took care of it. Definitely still recommend them!
@@MikeSmith-rh5gc Sorry to hear about the sub but congrats on the new gear. I have a 1723 S center which is basically like the monitor and I have been happy with that.

I touch on this in my video about fine tuning my height speakers. Calibration did its job but it didn’t sound right to my ears and made adjustments which made it sound much better. Always trust your ears!
Arendal are not very nice company who promote free shipping on their website. This is BS and basically false advertising and I think is illegal under EU E-commerce law. If you do not live in the USA or EU they increase the price by around 30% AND then charge extra for shipping and Taxes. They have been increasing the prices every few months over the last year or 2. So much for Factory to end user direct pricing. In my country of residence, the Arendal 1723 2s costs $3,070 with shipping and taxes included. For comparison the SVS sb16-ultra costs $2,500 in local hifi shop retail and that is before discount which of course comes with local warranty and support. Are Arendal products good? Yes! Management......hhmmmm yeah. The same arendal sub in EU costs $2600. Dont bother replying to my comment trying to blame taxes etc because my country of residence import duty is 5%. VAT in EU is 21% and Arendal sell taxes and delivery included.
Don't know if I'll ever understand how any of that works but sorry to hear that is the case for you. It is pretty crazy since for me the 1723 S would cost $2399 with tax and shipping. Hopefully you have different speaker options that are better deals. I've heard good things of the SVS Ultra series.
@@RandomDistractionsYT Thanks for the reply thing is I do understand how it all works and they are very simply price gouging. You can see for yourself. Change your country to UAE on the arendal website. You will see 1723 2s sub sale price = $2,399 excluding shipping and any or all taxes. If you put the sub in the cart you will see they add $500 for air freight and still mention that the customer shall pay all import duties and taxes. The price a customer pays in the European Union is approx $2499 but this also includes European Value Added Tax (VAT) which is 21% of selling price. VAT is non applicable to exports from EU so remove the 21% and whatever the EU shipping cost is and the real price should be around $1,900 sale price + freight + duties for me to buy in the UAE. But Arendal have decided to screw over customers here. I am european myself and am stating facts. Thing is I like arendal products and want to buy so why am I here ranting? Well dont put free shipping on your website when it isn't true and say factory to customer pricing no middle man save money. BULLSHIT! I can buy SVS, KEF, FOCAL and nearly every other brand that Arendal competes with for less money here than Arendal! Do they think people in Dubai are stupid rich and therefore stupid with their money?
@@pumpituphomeboy I appreciate you sharing the experience even if it wasn't the best as it provides a perspective for other customers who may experience or not be aware of this situation. @@RandomDistractionsYT I have seen on trust pilot that 1 poor dude got charged 50% taxes etc in Australia as he took website at face value and didn't read the small print. BTW Australia and India have extremely high import duties for any electronic product coming from outside.
