Kingly Gwalior Light Railway revisited | Narrow gauge journey compilation till Sabalgarh

- Presenting to you some fabulous highlights from my second visit to this 116 years old, 2 feet wide narrow gauge Gwalior Light Railways (GLR) falling under the Jhansi (JHS) division of North Central Railway (NCR) of Indian Railways. GLR was built for the Gwalior State in pre-independence era during the times of British ruled India by the then Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia. Construction of this Maharaja Railway line began in 1895 & the traffic to Sheopur Kalan was extended in 1904. After India gained independence in 1947, the GLR was merged in Northern Railway (now in NCR), Madhya Pradesh (MP).
I started my journey from Gwalior Jn. onboard 52175 DRC Passenger till Sabalgarh. NDM5 #803 of GWL (GWALIOR) NG diesel loco shed was at the helm & did the honor of poering my train that day. During my journey till Sabalgarh, 2 trains crossed my train, first train at Motijheel & second train at Kailaras. During my first visit to Gwalior in 2018, I couldn't cover much of this route. However, this time I made sure that I travel at least till Sabalgarh. But still due to shortage of time, I couldn't explore the entire section all the way till Sheopur. After reaching Sabalgarh, the same locomotive was reversed & powered the Gwalior bound 52176 Passenger. As seen in this video, one reserve locomotive is kept at Sabalgarh as a backup power, in case the locomotive of any train fails during the trips. That day, a dual-cab NDM5 #812 of GWL was at Sabalgarh.
For first 20 kms, the train passes through some densely populated suburbs & brushes with the houses built very close to the railway line that literally open up on the tracks & the locomotive pilots continuously blow the horns to alert the people roaming by the tracks as well as several level crossings. These trains are so much crowded that the passengers hop onto the top of the coaches. Since the train's speed is very low, its pretty much safe to travel on the rooftops of these trains. Unfortunately, the efforts for conversion of this narrow gauge section to the broad gauge are being made & this section can be closed anytime.

@@pranavchaware why closing covid?
@@malikoi1426broad gauge conversion started
its should run by electricity than petrol or coal
Locomotives on this sections ran on coal many years ago, then on diesel. But never on petrol. Once this section is converted to broad gauge, it will operate under electricity
