    You could shoot a short video for each machine type showing the routine maintenance and grease points. Then have these linked using a QR code which is on a plate / sticker on the machine. Then the operator can refer back at any time to guidance on how to maintain it. The plate / sticker could be next to the control panel so there can be no excuses.

    Re the issue with the hidden grease points, haven't McCloskey dropped the ball by not having all the nipple's grouped together along side the jaw ones? Great video showing plant fitting as it is. Hope you're back firing on all cylinders soon...

    That flu bug really floors people. Good to see you finally getting over it(slowly). Fair play to you going to lie under a crusher when you feel rotten. As usual another great informative video. Hope they get a practice in place that all operators know where all the grease points are on the crushers(expensive lesson to learn). 👍

    1:00:00 , love that mans shop, I worked in a similar shop that was started in 1934,
    with the train tracks less that 8 meters from the building.....
    lots of old school machines, we did repair and some new parts manufacture.......
    the big lathes, drills and mills were also great to use, we had a 1x16 meter lathe that was
    adapted to weld build up, the gun was fed by the lead screw, and the rpm could down to
    about 1/4 rpm.......slow baby......it did one heck of a job on MIG weld build up on shafts.....

    Always tricky when you get ill like that. I run my own business and like to set an example of being in unless I’m properly ill, and it’s really easy to convince yourself that you can’t be that ill, keep on going, then end up properly floored with it!! Been there and done it! Know what you mean on the “3 days off” too, you tell yourself a day at home and you’ll be right, but a day in you realise that’s not happening!! You need to make a folder up for each machine with colour photos of the grease point locations on the machine and fundamental maintenance checks.
    A separate sheet or computer based record with dates and times that the greaseeing is carried out, operator to intial this every time they carry out greaseing and checks.
    Any half decent operator will know the grease points on a 360 but a crusher is a different animal with hidden grease points, some remote from were logic would say the bearing location or pivotpoint is.
    Trouble is when dropping off a machine a simple walk around can be easily forgotten, and frankly, those unnloading often have little operational 39:43 experience of specific machines.

    Watching the bearing replacement on the crusher, and lack of maintenance,
    it seems that Fox Group should make a check list for their equipment,
    that shows greasing points and intervals, instead of relying on manufacturers placards.....in hard to see places.....just a thought....
    and also any other sort of field preventative maintenance that might be need,
    like inspection of belts, ect....

    Hi team, I really appreciate how you don’t fill the chronicle with advert’s like most channels, but to be fare I think you deserve to put a few more in especially the longer vlogs it’s only fare the effort you boys put in.
    As reference to the greasing education I’ve been on a few jobs now where operator shift hours/maintenance and hour logs have been in an app format,maybe specific grease location’s can be added to such a system when an op logs in and out of a shift on a numbered piece of plant.
    It’d be a large undertaking to set in place but like your main sponcer Autovolt stream lines the other side of the company’s management to great effect maybe I could be as successful managing the plant hire side.

    • @gruunt4064
      @gruunt4064 7 місяців тому +1

      wouldn't be difficult for Fox to implement but i imagine you could only do it for machines with your own operator supplied, if you just hire out a machine you can't make them use an app to log tasks, maybe if you give a hire discount, could also put how to guides on UA-cam for each machine, easy to access and refer back to,, maybe even more in depth to show other things to look out for that go wrong regularly

    • @Smokey1970
      @Smokey1970 7 місяців тому

      Hi, the app’s I mentioned was implemented by the main construction contractors who either hired the plant or hired a sub contractor company to do the work and I was on hire to the subby.
      The benefit to all participants is if a fault is reported and past on to the plant hire firm or contractor the liability of the expense to the main contractor is greatly reduced if any further damage or wear was to be caused.
      And in the case of machines ie digger’s etc etc there’s a manual supplied of each machine and in most cases a large information sticker on a cab window of greasing schedule of each of the grease point’s but most don’t even see they are there or understand how to interpret them. It’s the same with the lifting and dig parameter charts.
      As for greasing points it’s quite simple, if there’s a joint, knuckle, bearing or pin the chance’s are there’s a nipple.
      At some degree the blame is down to the op unless they are brand new.
      The video idea is good as simply put a lot in construction can’t read well.
      A QR code system would be useful for a little video to each type of machine but that’s on the manufacturer and not the one’s purchasing or leasing like fox.
      A system for the operator to be accountable and register that they have done daily checks and greased at recommended intervals and log machine hour’s is needed. The app would also notify the yard when service was due and faults found it could notify the op which points were due to be greased the paper system rarely works in a timely fashion wether it’s an op’s fault for not handing them in or an office not actually processing them but mainly they just don’t care as they are rarely brought to task and if they are they just move on to become someone else’s problem a app and data base could also cure that issue over time.
      The level of op knowledge is frighteningly low these day’s most don’t even understand to check an air filter let alone clean it from dust.
      As for adoption, agencies are the main supplier of operators to the industry so if firms like fox insisted agencies have the op’s use a system or be off hired for that client it’d roll out fast in my opinion.

    guys who do hand rail use to grind welds....the ones that have a belt with a splice
    that can be opened up and reattached, to you can get on those shafts that
    need some soothing out for bearing replacement......
    by the way, I have the same Sanp-On dead blow ball been you are using at 56:00,
    and got it used in 1982.....the compothane is still holding up, I do not use very much,
    but all the other Dead Blow hammers I have bought have disintegrated , possibly due to
    oil or grease, some by just sitting in the tool box.....both Snap-On and other major brands....
    I love my Sanp-On tools....started buying the in 1973....and still have the first 10mm socket I bought,

Think a maintaince manual with a few picture showing at all the points that need constant looking after should be made up for all the machines not just the crushers. And getting the maintaince guy sign and date when its done. Won't be long finding out who slacking . Not great weather to crawling around in after yous were SO sick. I was wondering about the log wash plant. How come there is fabric on the logs? Take care guys and stay safe.

    Good one baz. Too many bosses are quick to blame the workers but if they haven't been shown/told how do you expect them to do the job. At that point as bosses we have to put our hands up and say "you didn't know and that is my fault"

      Trouble is the drivers who do the haulage usually only know the basic operation so new operators don't get the right information. I have seen this dozens of times with mewp hire.

    Great videos lads watching here in Southern Ireland. Would it be an idea to bring the crusher operators with you on breakdowns and have them involved in the repair so they can see how everything needs to be maintained and see the damage and time lost by not doing the simple things. That’s the way I learned but I was footing the bills so you learn quicker then😂

    • @welderfabber
      @welderfabber  7 місяців тому

      No we would never take them on a repair. We need to implement better check procedures
